One Wild Night Changed Everything

Chapter 10: Chapter 10

Zoe snorted with a smile as she stared at Bernard. "Thank you for allowing me to spend the night at your place, but I have to leave now."

Bernard didn't want Zoe to leave soon. He clicked with her.

"Where will you go? Have you suddenly decided to go back to your husband?" Bernard asked.

"Hell no! I told you last night that I'm not reconciling with him, my decision is final. I just have some work to attend to. But I owe you no explanation about my whereabouts." Zoe said with a deep frown.

"Of course, I know that; I'm just asking because I care, what we had last night was real, and I don't want to see you hurt anymore; you deserve happiness. I need only five minutes of your time. Let's have breakfast, and after that, I will drop you off wherever you wish to go." Bernard said, firmly.

Her heart replayed the moment they shared, analyzing every glance and gesture. Come to think of it, Zoe had never felt pleasure like she had last night.

Zoe rolled her eyes. "Geez, you are persuasive. I have agreed to have breakfast with you in just five minutes, nothing more, and I would prefer to take a taxi to my house."

Bernard grinned cheerfully, "Okay, that's fine." He quickly changed from his bathrobe into a white t-shirt and bold orange shorts, complementing his toned legs.

As she entered the dining room, she was struck by its beauty, which had gone unnoticed by her last night.

The crystal chandelier cast a radiant glow, illuminating the dining with refinement. The luxury tablescape was crafted with precision, blending elegance with eight seats to create an unforgettable dining experience.

Bernard possessed an impeccable taste for luxury, evident in every corner of his house.

Zoe glanced around speechlessly. 'He's not only handsome but he's got a luxury apartment. Who wouldn't want to stay or even want to live with him forever.' Zoe thought to herself.

Lucy had spent hours perfecting her cooking skills to impress Bernard and had set the table with precision and care; she was determined to make a lasting impression, always trying new things and hoping that Bernard would look her way for a relationship.

Bernard ushered Zoe to the table, inviting her to sit as he graciously pulled out a chair for her. Helping her settle in.

Zoe smiled, "Thank you. I must say, your house is beautiful."

"Thank you," he appreciated.

Lucy, the chef, walked in from the kitchen holding crisp white napkins. She staggered when she saw Zoe. She had never seen her boss bring a woman home before; it was a first in her year of serving, and it caught her off guard.

Lucy has worked as a chef in Bernard's house only for a year now, and she had only seen Bernard's mom, and his brother who visits often, and this made her secretly admire her boss.

Bernard's specious mansion was immaculately maintained by a team of three skilled female household staff.

Sophia managed the cleaning and organizing of the house, while Emily focused on laundry and ironing and Lucy handled the cooking and meal preparation. It was only Lucy who only admired their boss.

"Who could she be? So this was the reason he asked me to prepare breakfast for two. "This could be the reason why he only sees me like a maid and nothing else Lucy muttered.

"Hey Lucy, come and serve us please," Bernard asked respectfully. Bernard is the type of man who treats people with utmost respect, regardless of their social status. He saw the humanity in everyone and responded with compassion.

Zoe turned her head around to see who Bernard referred to as Lucy. "Oh, I guess she was the one that came knocking at the bedroom door some minute ago." She mumbled.

Lucy smiled as she moved to the dining table to serve them. As she grabbed the mug wanting to serve Bernard his coffee, he interrupted.

"Don't bother, I will pour it out myself. serve my guess." He instructed as he carefully poured the steaming coffee into a waiting mug, releasing the inviting aroma just the way he liked it. Black with a little bit of sugar. That has been Bernard's morning routine before breakfast.

Lucy carefully positioned the plates and served Zoe tangy cheese and sweet pastries. A mouth-watering breakfast spread lay before Zoe, and she had no choice but to eat from the one she was served by the chef.

Zoe snorted. "Nice meal." She said to Lucy after serving her but she didn't respond but frowned as she left the dining room.

Zoe sensed that something wasn't right about Bernard's chef, Lucy. 'Wait…is she crushing on him or something? I don't blame her though.' Zoe felt this whole thing could have been avoided if Stanley was able to put his dick in his pants.

Bernard didn't notice his chef was rude to Zoe as he was busy sipping and enjoying his coffee.

Zoe sighed. "I hope the meal wasn't poisoned by that chef. She thought I was Bernard's Mistress." Zoe felt the sting of humiliation, her patience worn thin.

She gritted her teeth and only took a bite from the tangy cheese. She stood up and glanced at her wristwatch. "Five minutes is up, I should be leaving now," Zoe said.

Bernard looked up before staring at Zoe's plates. "You didn't even touch your breakfast; it seems you don't like the food; I will ask my chef to make another.

'It seems he didn't notice his chef was rude to me,' Zoe thought to herself before responding to Bernard's question.

"Of course, I enjoyed it; I only took a bite because I was not hungry and I am running late, so I had to leave. Thank you so much for your hospitality."

"You are welcome, I hope you will be fine since you don't want me to drop you off?"

Zoe responded with a head nod as she grabbed the straps of her handbag, lifted it on her shoulder, and made her way to the door.

"Take care of yourself," Bernard said. And Zoe entered a cab.
