Chapter 277: Chapter 277: Flying Pirates vs. Roger Pirates
"Shahaha, Roger, if you don't want to rule the world, then hand over the secret of the Ancient Weapons!" Shiki demanded. "Since ruling isn't your goal, these secrets are useless to you. Give them to me, and I'll rule the world while you pursue your adventures unhindered."
Shiki had anticipated Roger's refusal and was primarily interested in the secrets of the Ancient Weapons. He communicated this through his Haki, ensuring no one else could hear, as he didn't want others to become competitors for these secrets.
"If others learn about the Ancient Weapons, both the World Government and the Infinite Pirates will become my rivals, and I can't afford that," Shiki thought.
"Shiki, I may know of the Ancient Weapons, but I don't possess them, nor do I know what they are or where they're hidden!" Roger replied using his Haki to ensure privacy. "Moreover, I believe this world shouldn't fall into your hands, as it would only worsen."
Roger, aware of the chaos the revelation of the Ancient Weapons could cause, kept this knowledge closely guarded. He knew only that two of these weapons existed and could devastate islands with ease, thanks to Li Yuan's foresight in removing the Poneglyph detailing Pluton from Wano.
"You think the world shouldn't belong to me? Who, then? Li Yuan, or should the World Government continue its rule?" Shiki retorted, angered by Roger's dismissal of his ambitions. To Shiki, denying him was denying his right to rule.
"Isn't the world already chaotic enough? How much worse can it get?" Shiki thought, feeling his aspirations and dreams were being denied.
"Hahaha, neither you nor Li Yuan are fit to rule the world!" Roger declared. "If you want something, Shiki, come and take it. I have nothing for you."
In Roger's eyes, Shiki was ambitious and ruthless, unsuitable as a ruler. Li Yuan, despite his unspoken ambitions, also sought control, having destroyed many nations in his expansion. Now the world's largest arms dealer, Li Yuan had plunged the world into chaos, with wars erupting everywhere, indirectly causing countless deaths.
Thus, Roger also opposed Li Yuan ruling the world.
"Shahaha, if you won't hand it over, then you and your crew can take this secret to hell!" Shiki roared, drawing his twin blades. His Haki-infused swords crackled with black lightning, dispersing the storm around them.
"Lion's Threat: Thousand Slice Valley!" Shiki dove, unleashing a massive cross-shaped slash, a towering 500-meter tall wave forming into a giant lion's head behind it, both hurtling toward Roger.
"Hahaha, Shiki, you're not strong enough to kill me!" Roger leapt from his ship, Ace transforming into a black blade, clashing with Shiki's lightning-infused attack.
"Divine Departure!" Roger met Shiki's assault head-on, undaunted. The clash of their Haki released a shockwave, black and red lightning crackling in all directions.
In moments, Roger shattered Shiki's attack, even slicing the giant lion's head in two. However, Roger knew Shiki excelled in ranged battles, using his Devil Fruit to wear opponents down. Few could outlast Shiki in a drawn-out fight.
Roger surged toward Shiki, knowing close combat was his best chance.
"Shahaha, Roger, even with your storm, you can't change the fact that you'll lose!" Shiki taunted, countering Roger with his dual swords.
"Victory is still undecided, Shiki. Your arrogance is your downfall. The Roger Pirates will prevail!" Roger replied, parrying Shiki's attacks and countering with a swift strike aimed at Shiki's midsection.
"Shahaha, I, Shiki, will not lose! Only the Roger Pirates will fall!" Shiki retorted, evading Roger's blow and launching a fierce counterattack.
Despite the lack of aerial advantage, Roger held his ground against Shiki. As they clashed, the Flying Pirates and Roger Pirates engaged in battle below.
Reinhardt struck first, his Logia Air-Air Fruit powers amplified by the storm.
"Air Stream Tornado!" Reinhardt summoned a massive tornado, over 500 meters high, sweeping up seawater and wind, directing it at the Oro Jackson. Even the Adam Wood-made ship would suffer under such an assault.
"These youngsters with their powerful Devil Fruits," Rayleigh mused, having noted Reinhardt, Shiki's right-hand man.
"Underworld!" Rayleigh unleashed a powerful Haki-infused strike, obliterating Reinhardt's tornado.
"Youth, don't attack our Oro Jackson. It's our precious companion!" Rayleigh warned, leaping skyward to challenge Reinhardt.
"Roger's right hand, Rayleigh, as strong as an admiral!" Reinhardt thought, dodging Rayleigh's attack. His fighting style, akin to Shiki's, utilized flight and agility to outmaneuver foes, stalling Rayleigh while targeting the Oro Jackson.
Unable to ignore Reinhardt, Rayleigh was forced to engage, knowing the ship's safety depended on it.
The Flying Pirates' second in command, Harold William, transformed into a blazing, Mythical Zoan Griffin, his fiery form stark against the storm.
"Flaming Griffin!" Harold roared, unleashing a massive fireball shaped like a griffin at the Oro Jackson. The Flying Pirates aimed to sink the ship, knowing its loss would spell defeat for Roger's crew.
"These Flying Pirates are too cunning!" Jabba grumbled, hefting his massive axe as the flaming griffin descended.
"Heavenly Strike!" Jabba's axe gleamed black with Haki as he cleaved the fiery griffin in half, dispersing it like fireworks.
Jabba leapt skyward, determined to stop the attacks on the Oro Jackson. He couldn't guarantee he could block every assault.
"Jabba, Roger's left hand, on par with Rayleigh. Let's see your strength!" Harold taunted as Jabba approached.
"Try me and see!" Jabba challenged, swinging his axe with force.
"Fire Lion's Claw!" Harold's massive claw, wreathed in flames, met Jabba's axe, but the powerful strike sent Harold flying.
Harold quickly regained his balance, using his flight to evade Jabba's follow-up attack.
At that moment, Flying Pirates' third in command, Aslan Elasti, a Paramecia-type Null-Null Fruit user, joined the fray.
"Null Fist!" Aslan's punch unleashed a strange power, erasing wind, rain, and even air around him.
Jabba raised his axe defensively, shocked as his Haki was partially nullified. This power was dangerous, and Jabba grew wary.
"Fire Roar!" Harold fired a beam of flames at Jabba from the side.
"Fight me one-on-one! This is unfair!" Jabba evaded, frustrated by the two-on-one.
"Why not gang up on Rayleigh? Why me?" Jabba fumed internally, feeling unlucky.
"Take him down!" Aslan and Harold coordinated, intending to defeat Jabba before aiding Reinhardt against Rayleigh.
With over 300 Flying Pirates against 70 Roger Pirates, even Roger's elite crew struggled under the onslaught, forced to protect the Oro Jackson.
Though evenly matched in top-tier power, the Flying Pirates' numbers overwhelmed Roger's crew, putting them on the defensive.
In the Oro Jackson's cabin, Buggy and Shanks watched the battle through a crack, anxious and helpless. Seeing their comrades injured without being able to assist left them conflicted and fearful, as they were still just kids.
"Shahaha, Roger, surrender or watch your crew perish!" Shiki taunted as he and Roger clashed, their Haki evenly matched.
"Hmph, Shiki, I trust my crew. They won't lose!" Roger scoffed, unfazed by Shiki's taunts.
The Roger Pirates had weathered countless storms and wouldn't fall to the Flying Pirates now.
Realizing taunts were futile, Shiki focused on fighting Roger with all his might, determined to win.
