One Piece:Becoming the King of the World from the Rocks Era

Chapter 268: Chapter 268: Signal Jammers, Receivers, and Processors

"Has there been any word from Big Brother Kong yet?" Zephyr asked.

"No, I've been trying to contact headquarters, but they said Big Brother Kong went out and the specifics are unknown to the personnel on duty," Vice Admiral Tsuru replied, shaking her head.

"Bruru Bruru!!" At that moment, the Den Den Mushi rang, and it was a call from Saturn Saint of the Five Elders.

"Lord Saturn Saint, this is Tsuru. Sengoku and Garp are here with me," Tsuru said, immediately answering the call.

"I have some unfortunate news. Fleet Admiral Kong went out to confront the pirate Redfield but was killed by him. I am hereby appointing Sengoku as the new Fleet Admiral. Prepare for the inauguration ceremony upon your return to Marineford," Saturn Saint announced.

"What? How could Big Brother Kong be dead? What happened?" Sengoku and the others were stunned, as if struck by lightning, while Garp shouted in disbelief.

"You'll have to investigate the specifics when you return to Marineford. For now, stabilize the situation within the Navy. This defeat has been costly, and I hope, Sengoku, you can quickly reorganize the Navy and restore order to the seas," Saturn Saint said before abruptly ending the call.

"Hey, Saturn Saint, don't hang up! Tell me what happened to Big Brother Kong!" Garp yelled at the now silent Den Den Mushi in frustration.

"Garp, calm down!" Sengoku urged, trying to control his own anger.

"Calm down? How can I be calm? Wasn't Big Brother Kong safely in Marineford? How could he have gone to face Redfield, and how could he have died with his strength?" Garp's eyes were red, tears streaming down his face.

To Garp, Kong was like an older brother. Kong had taught him martial arts, and much of Garp's skill came from Kong. He respected Kong deeply, viewing him as both a brother and a mentor.

"Talking about it now is pointless. Tsuru, investigate what happened to Fleet Admiral Kong," Sengoku sighed. The Navy had just suffered a defeat, and now the Admiral's death had left a huge burden on him. He knew he was the next in line, but he hadn't wanted to take over under such dire circumstances.

"Alright, I'll start investigating now," Tsuru replied, also feeling the weight of recent events. The Navy was in a tough spot.

After defeating the Navy, Li Yuan and the Infinite Pirates celebrated on their ship, drinking heavily and sprawling out to sleep until morning.

News of the Infinite Pirates' victory over the Navy spread quickly, with Morgans receiving the scoop and rushing to publish the story worldwide. This was big news for him as the newly appointed president of the World Economic News Agency, helping cement his control over the organization.

By the next morning, newspapers were circulating globally with headlines:

"Shock: The Navy Defeated by the Legendary Infinite Pirates from the New World!"

"My God, if one pirate crew can defeat the Navy, what if all the New World pirate crews united against the World Government?"

"This era belongs to the pirates. The time when the Navy maintained order is over!"

"World's Greatest Swordsman Li Yuan Defeats the Strongest Marine, Garp. Once defeated Roger, now defeats Garp. The strongest since Rocks?"

"Fleet Admiral Kong Killed by Pirate! The culprit: Redfield, the Red Count!"

These eye-catching headlines flew worldwide, shocking those following the conflict between the Infinite Pirates and the Navy. Many couldn't believe the Navy had lost, despite having two admirals and the strongest marine, Garp. What kind of power did the Infinite Pirates possess?

As these newspapers spread, the world fell into panic. The Navy's defeat meant pirates were now stronger, worsening life for ordinary people as the threat of pirate attacks grew.

Whitebeard Pirates:

"Dad, look at these latest papers. They record a huge event—the Infinite Pirates won, and Garp lost to Li Yuan!" Marco exclaimed, bringing the papers to Whitebeard.

"Oh? The Infinite Pirates won? Li Yuan is truly remarkable for training his officers so well," Whitebeard mused. Without reading the papers, he could guess that Li Yuan had grown stronger, as had his officers, to withstand Sengoku and Zephyr.

"Look, there's another article. Fleet Admiral Kong was killed by Redfield, the one who challenged you alone!" Thatch added, handing another paper to Whitebeard.

"Redfield, defeated by Li Yuan, yet still strong enough to kill Kong? Or is Kong just too old?" Marco pondered.

"Marco, never underestimate someone who was once great, or you'll suffer for it," Whitebeard advised. "Kong wasn't too weak or too old—Redfield is just that strong, with incredibly powerful Observation Haki."

Whitebeard recalled his own spar with Redfield. Though they didn't fight to the death, Redfield's Observation Haki had been a real challenge.

"Dad, this paper claims Li Yuan is the world's strongest. That's nonsense! You're the strongest, and we'll defeat the Infinite Pirates. You'll beat Li Yuan and be the world's strongest!" Jozu declared.

"That's right, Dad's the strongest, and Li Yuan will fall to him!" Marco agreed.

"Hahahaha, you're right!" Whitebeard laughed, pleased. No father dislikes being praised and admired by his children, even if it's blind worship.

After defeating the Navy, Li Yuan returned to the Infinite Pirates' base. His first stop was Yuma's lab.

"Captain, congratulations on defeating Garp and becoming the world's strongest!" Yuma greeted Li Yuan enthusiastically, putting down his work.

"Okay, enough flattery. Show me what you've been working on," Li Yuan replied, smiling. He was here because Yuma had mentioned progress on their communication experiments.

"Captain, we've developed a signal jammer. Once activated, it can cover a large island and block all Den Den Mushi signals, putting them into a sleep state," Yuma explained, leading Li Yuan to the lab to showcase his invention.

"Good. This will be useful for ambushing the Navy or World Government, preventing information leaks. If we place it in our territory, it can stop enemy intelligence gathering," Li Yuan noted, satisfied. "But you must have more than just this jammer, right?"

"Indeed, Captain. We also have a signal receiver and processor," Yuma continued. "The receiver can pick up Den Den Mushi signals over a much larger area than the jammer. With just ten receivers, we could cover our entire territory."

"The signal processor works with the receiver, decoding the signals into text and language we can understand," Yuma added.

"If we set these up in our territory, we can monitor all communications and intercept any threats to us. If we place them at Navy headquarters, we could monitor their every move!" Li Yuan exclaimed, excited by the intelligence potential.

"Uh, Captain, using them in our territory is fine, but at Navy headquarters, they'd be detected. They likely have firewalls, as you described, and our receivers would be noticed if they intercepted headquarters' signals," Yuma cautioned.

"Then improve them. These receivers are great for our territory, but I want versions that can monitor the Navy and World Government. Also, develop a signal locator to pinpoint signal origins," Li Yuan instructed.

"I understand, Captain," Yuma replied, ready to take on the challenge.
