Chapter 214: Chapter 214
Kaido's laughter filled the battlefield, a wild, unsettling sound that echoed over the frozen expanse. But when Luffy's sharp retort rang out, Kaido's laughter abruptly stopped, his amusement choked off mid-breath. In stark contrast, Garp threw his head back, laughing so hard that tears gathered in his eyes, clapping his hands in delight. He didn't care about Kaido's ominous glare, nor did he hesitate to cheer on his grandson's boldness.
Ignoring the old man's laughter, Kaido's expression darkened as he lowered his head, locking eyes with Luffy. Slowly, a grin crept back onto his face, but this time it was cold, almost calculating.
"Little brat," he growled, "let's see if you really have what it takes to kill me."
The moment the words left his lips, Kaido's eyes flashed with a menacing red gleam, and an overwhelming force surged from his body. The entire sky seemed to shift as if recoiling from his power, dark clouds rolling in and the atmosphere thickening with an oppressive energy.
The ground trembled as Kaido unleashed his full Conqueror's Haki, an aura of pure domination aimed squarely at the four Marines, with Luffy as its primary target.
"Conqueror's Haki?" Garp muttered, eyes widening as he felt the immense pressure pressing down on them. He looked over at Luffy, realization dawning. Could Kaido be trying to force out Luffy's own Conqueror's Haki? He clenched his fists, understanding Kaido's twisted game.
Nearby, Aokiji swallowed, his gaze shifting nervously between Kaido and Luffy. "No way," he murmured, feeling the weight of Kaido's haki bearing down on him. "If Luffy has Conqueror's Haki too… just how powerful is he going to be?"
As Kaido's Haki bore down on him, Luffy stood firm, not backing down. But before he could react, Hancock stepped forward with a fierce expression, interposing herself between Kaido and Luffy.
"Enough! Leave him alone!" she shouted, anger radiating from her every pore. Kaido's relentless attempts to hurt Luffy had finally pushed her to the edge. With a single step forward, she released her own Conqueror's Haki, a deep red aura flaring out from her form, colliding with Kaido's overwhelming pressure.
Invisible waves of energy clashed in the air, creating a turbulent storm between them. The red aura of Hancock's Haki pushed back against Kaido's own, forcing him to retreat ever so slightly. Kaido's expression darkened, a frown crossing his face as he felt Hancock's power matching his, if only for a moment.
But then, Kaido let out a cold snort, and in an instant, he intensified his own Conqueror's Haki, his aura flaring with renewed intensity. Hancock staggered slightly, her Haki pushed back by the raw, brutal force of Kaido's power. It was clear she was struggling to maintain her ground, her defiant stance beginning to waver under the pressure.
Seeing Hancock struggle, Luffy stepped forward, his expression hardening as he grasped her hand, grounding her. His gaze was locked on Kaido, his voice sharp as he shouted, "Minotaur, back off! What do you think you're trying to do to my woman?"
The words had barely left his lips when a new wave of Haki surged out from him, an aura far more intense than before, blending seamlessly with Hancock's own. The combined power of their Conqueror's Haki pressed forward, colliding against Kaido's aura with equal force, pushing him back in a fierce battle of wills.
Kaido's eyes lit up with exhilaration as he felt Luffy's Haki pressing against him. "So, you do have it!" he bellowed, his voice booming with excitement. "And it's not just any Conqueror's Haki… it's stronger than most I've seen in the New World!"
Aokiji's jaw dropped as he observed the intense clash, unable to believe what he was witnessing. "Are you kidding me?" he muttered, his heart pounding as he watched Luffy match Kaido's Conqueror's Haki. "That level of power… even in the New World, there aren't many who could stand up to that!"
Beside him, Garp's expression softened, a mix of pride and exasperation filling his gaze. "So… he's unlocked it, huh?" he muttered, scratching his head. "You're something else, kid. But hiding this from your own grandpa? That's a bold move, Luffy!"
Though he spoke in a tone of mock scolding, Garp's smile was unmistakable. The fact that Luffy possessed Conqueror's Haki filled him with immense pride, for it wasn't just a power—it was a symbol of ambition and spirit. While ambition might seem contrary to the values of the Marines, Garp understood that ambition took many forms. Even the Marine Fleet Admiral Sengoku possessed Conqueror's Haki, driven by his vision of a just world.
Justice that reigns supreme, Garp thought, recalling Sengoku's motto. That's what had earned Sengoku his Conqueror's Haki—a desire for the Marines to become an undeniable force of justice, reigning over all.
But what made Garp truly happy was that Conqueror's Haki was a gateway to even greater power. Only the most elite fighters—those like Roger and Whitebeard—could learn to wield Conqueror's Haki Entanglement, a technique that few could ever hope to master. If Luffy could reach that level, his potential would be limitless.
Kaido, too, recognized the significance of this power. He watched Luffy with a gleam of approval, a grin stretching across his face. "Yes… yes! I acknowledge your Haki, kid!" he shouted, his voice echoing with exhilaration. "Come on, then! Fight me! Show me what you're made of!"
"Luffy, no!" Aokiji yelled, realizing the danger. He swiftly conjured an ice spear, hurling it at Kaido in an attempt to slow him down. In a flash, ice blades formed around Aokiji's hands as he lunged toward the Emperor, hoping to prevent Kaido from reaching Luffy.
But Kaido barely even noticed the ice spear. With a single swipe of his mace, he shattered it into shards that scattered harmlessly around him. Lifting his mace, Kaido's grin widened as it crackled with red and black lightning, a menacing aura swirling around the weapon.
"Get out of my way! Roaring Thunder Bagua!"
Aokiji's eyes widened as the attack surged toward him. He quickly raised an ice wall in front of himself, fortifying it with every ounce of strength he could muster. But Kaido's power was unstoppable. His mace obliterated the ice wall with a single blow, the force carrying through to Aokiji himself. The impact hit him with brutal force, sending him flying backward, blood spraying from his mouth.
"Kuzan!"
