Chapter 180: Chapter 180: Whitebeard's Fury
Chapter 180: Whitebeard's Fury
The battle between Shiki the Golden Lion and Admiral Zephyr was an intense clash of raw power.
"What incredible arm strength! As expected of a navy admiral—you're quite capable!" Shiki admitted, taking a half-step back and warily eyeing Zephyr.
Shiki raised his twin swords, Sakura and Tenkumu, and prepared for another attack.
"But brute strength alone won't defeat me! Lion Chikiri Ya!"
From the air, Shiki twisted and flipped his body, unleashing a barrage of slashes from different angles, leaving Zephyr no room to escape.
Shiki's sword attacks were blindingly fast and devastatingly sharp. In mere moments, he had unleashed over a dozen slashes, each one capable of cutting through steel.
Zephyr, however, stood firm. Covering his arms in Armament Haki, he braced himself.
Instead of dodging, Zephyr chose to face the attacks head-on, punching each slash as it approached.
With every punch, another of Shiki's attacks was shattered, but the battle began to take its toll. Both men were exhausted, having fought relentlessly for four days and three nights.
Knowing he couldn't match Zephyr in stamina, Shiki wisely stopped his barrage, unwilling to waste precious energy.
The two resumed their hand-to-hand combat. Shiki swung his swords with deadly precision, while Zephyr countered with powerful punches. Both fought with everything they had, showing no mercy.
---
Meanwhile, the subordinates of the Golden Lion and Whitebeard were struggling to hold their ground.
The elite vice admirals of the navy, renowned for their strength and experience, overwhelmed the pirate captains. Many of Shiki's men found themselves unable to withstand the relentless assault, with some even falling in battle.
On the Moby Dick, Whitebeard's crew was faring no better. They were surrounded and forced into a defensive position by rear admirals, colonels, and navy soldiers.
At the forefront stood Marco, his entire body engulfed in blue flames. He used his wings to shield his crewmates, burning any approaching marines.
Though just a child, Marco bore the responsibility of protecting his brothers, proving himself a true leader.
"Is this... a mythical Zoan-type ability?"
A rear admiral, wielding a long sword, stared at Marco with envy. Mythical Zoan Devil Fruits were exceedingly rare—rarer than even the Logia types. The only mythical Zoan user in the navy was Sengoku himself.
Jealousy burned in the rear admiral's eyes. To see such a treasure in the hands of a mere child drove him mad.
Wrapping his blade in Armament Haki, the rear admiral lunged at Marco.
"Ahh!"
Marco let out a pained scream as the blade pierced him, though his flames quickly healed the wound. However, the pain was real, and Marco was momentarily stunned.
Hearing his son's cry, Whitebeard turned sharply, his eyes blazing with fury.
"Marco!"
Whitebeard's thunderous voice shook the battlefield.
He swung Murakumogiri with immense force, forcing Sengoku to retreat momentarily.
Leaping from his position, Whitebeard closed the distance to Marco in an instant.
"Dare to hurt my family? Die!"
Grabbing the rear admiral's head with one massive hand, Whitebeard activated his Gura Gura no Mi powers. The vibrations coursed through the rear admiral's skull as Whitebeard slammed him into the deck with earth-shattering force.
Bang!
The rear admiral's body lay lifeless, his eyes white, and blood streaming from his head. The sight left everyone—pirates, marines, and even the spies watching from afar—frozen in fear.
It became clear to all: hurting Whitebeard's crew meant invoking the wrath of a king.
---
"Damn it!"
Sengoku steadied himself after Whitebeard's earlier strike and lunged forward, his palm glowing with golden light.
Whitebeard turned just in time, meeting Sengoku's attack with a vibrating punch.
"Marco! Take your brothers and retreat to the Moby Dick! Now!" Whitebeard bellowed without turning his gaze from Sengoku.
"But, Dad! What about you?" Marco cried, his voice filled with worry.
"Don't worry about me! I'm Whitebeard!"
With a powerful swing of Murakumogiri, Whitebeard forced Sengoku back, giving him a moment to address Marco.
"Go! I won't die!"
Tears streamed down Marco's face as he reluctantly led the others back toward the Moby Dick.
But their retreat wasn't without danger.
A vice admiral, his sword dripping with blood, stepped forward to block their path.
"Pirates, especially young ones, deserve no mercy!" the vice admiral declared coldly.
Marco, still weakened from his earlier injuries, spread his flaming wings and flew directly at the vice admiral, determined to protect his family.
"Humph! Foolish child!"
The vice admiral's sword, coated in Armament Haki, struck Marco, sending him crashing to the ground.
"Marco!"
Whitebeard's roar echoed across the battlefield as he tried to rush to his son's aid, but Sengoku blocked his path.
The vice admiral raised his blade to deliver the final blow.
"You'll die here, pirate!"
"Don't you dare!"
A flash of green light split the air, and a sharp sword strike intercepted the vice admiral's blade.
Bang!
The vice admiral screamed as his attack was deflected.
"Yo, yo, yo! That's quite the intense fight! I can't let you snuff out these kids so early—their era is just beginning!"
A familiar voice rang out.
From the sky, Charlotte descended like a green streak of light, wielding his Seven-Star Sword.
"Hahahahaha! I'm not too late, am I?" Charlotte said with a grin, standing protectively in front of Marco.
"Charlotte?"
The battlefield froze as everyone turned to stare at the newcomer.
Whitebeard and Shiki's voices were filled with surprise and relief, while Sengoku and Zephyr's expressions darkened.
Behind Charlotte, the flag of the Rockefeller Pirates fluttered proudly as his ship approached.
To be continued...
