Chapter 29: CHAPTER 29:If I Don’t Cut It, I’ll Cry
Ohnogi took a deep breath.
It had been sixty-one years since Konoha was founded, and Ohnogi had grown from a boy into an old man.
His large, collapsed nose made him quite recognizable.
The moment his title appeared, Tobirama recognized him immediately.
This was the boy who had accompanied the Second Tsuchikage when Hashirama invited the Five Kage for a summit in the past.
Tobirama's soul body still appeared youthful and composed, while Ohnogi had aged significantly.
Often he wondered if death was nearing.
Yet he hadn't cultivated a Tsuchikage successor to whom he could entrust Iwagakure.
He had once trained Deidara, but Deidara defected.
Now, his only hope was placing his efforts into his granddaughter, Kurotsuchi.
But... Kurotsuchi wasn't enough, at least not yet.
Minato spoke up. "Well, Second Hokage, Third Tsuchikage—both of you seem on edge."
Tobirama gave a short sigh.
"This is just dull."
Then, with casual authority, he addressed the group.
"Let me reintroduce everyone. Welcome to the Konoha Exchange Group."
Ohnogi blinked.
His system screen, glowing beside his chest, did not indicate that this was the 'younger generation's exchange group' or the playful alias 'Live Kitahara Hitoshi's small group.'
Suddenly, he spotted a familiar face.
"Oh! Terumi Mei!"
He called out to her.
Terumi Mei responded smoothly. "Oh? Isn't that the Third Tsuchikage? I'm not Mizukage yet, but clearly you already know my info. So you've been monitoring the Five Great Nations. Are you planning to exploit the instability in Kirigakure to launch an attack?"
Tobirama instantly picked up on her meaning.
She was revealing a subtle message—Kirigakure was currently weak, and Iwagakure, by contrast, was strong.
Likewise, according to Kakashi, Konoha wasn't in much better shape than Kirigakure either.
So...
Suppressing Iwagakure's Ohnogi now would create breathing room for both Konoha and Kirigakure.
If Ohnogi faltered, then Iwagakure wouldn't be a threat, and both Konoha and Kirigakure could rebuild safely.
Tobirama understood this unspoken message from Terumi Mei and moved immediately.
He lifted two fingers from his left shoulder.
In that moment, overwhelming pressure surged from Tobirama, shooting directly at Ohnogi.
Ohnogi grunted.
He fell face-first to the ground under the sheer force of Tobirama's aura.
This was the Third Tsuchikage—eldest of the Five Kage, a veteran of three wars, and undoubtedly one of the strongest among them.
And yet, in front of Tobirama, he had no chance to resist.
This was the terrifying power of the old Konoha.
Hashirama's voice rang out.
"Tobirama!"
Hashirama hadn't reacted in time.
He thought his brother was bullying an old man and immediately tried to stop him.
"Put your fingers down."
A powerful green chakra erupted from the First Hokage's body.
Minato muttered, "So this is the power of the First and Second Hokage…"
The sheer difference in level hit him like a wave.
As for Kakashi—he fell completely silent.
Autistic silence.
He had come in as the so-called Sixth Hokage, but now, it truly felt like the weakest Hokage title in history.
And it was true—he was the weakest.
Tobirama scoffed.
Though he thought his older brother lacked basic tact, the sight of Ohnogi completely subdued brought him satisfaction.
His goal was complete.
Tobirama retracted his fingers and suppressed his aura.
Ohnogi wheezed, coughing as he tried to recover.
As the pressure vanished, he finally managed to breathe freely.
Tobirama gave a cold greeting.
"Ohnogi, welcome to the exchange group."
Then his tone turned pointed.
"After the First Great Ninja War, your Iwagakure was more than eager to participate in both the Second and Third. You performed quite actively."
Ohnogi hesitated. "Well… we didn't want to fight, but if Iwagakure didn't join, we would've been attacked instead."
Tobirama narrowed his eyes. "Then surely, signing an alliance treaty with Konoha should not be a problem."
Ohnogi stammered. "I... I need some time to think…"
Tobirama's aura began to build again.
"You disagree?"
"No no, I'll write it right now! I'll sign it immediately!"
The system chimed.
Tick.
The Third Tsuchikage has gone offline.
Everyone paused.
The group chat was stunned.
Tobirama muttered, "Ohnogi's courage is even smaller than I thought."
Hashirama frowned in confusion.
"?"
Tobirama turned to him, voice dripping with sarcasm.
"Big brother, you're hopeless. I was pressuring Ohnogi. Right now, the Five Great Villages still stand, but as Terumi Mei said—Konoha has fallen from first place to the bottom."
"Only the Sand Village is weaker."
"But Cloud and Stone still have power."
"So, by beating Ohnogi now, we gain breathing space."
"If he backs off, it buys Konoha valuable time to recover."
Hashirama's response was slow.
"Eh? So you were thinking that far ahead?"
Tobirama groaned inwardly.
"Honestly, if I hadn't supported you back then, the village would've been carved up ten years into your reign."
"Ehhh!"
Tobirama jabbed again.
"You're the one who handed out Tailed Beasts like party favors. Look at the mess it caused—Konoha's ninja count is below 3,000 now."
"Eh…"
So now, another person had gone completely silent in the group—emotionally devastated.
Outside, in the real world—
Splash!
"Water Style: Water Rush!"
Kakashi summoned water again, practicing.
"This is nowhere near the same level…"
Even a fool could see it.
The Water Barrier Terumi Mei used wasn't something he could compete with.
She could destroy it effortlessly.
She was preparing to snatch him up—like catching a chicken.
And to think, this woman was willing to personally chase after someone like him.
He felt… so lucky.
He stopped mocking himself.
Meanwhile, Zabuza had already given up resisting.
But then, to his surprise, Kakashi—having shattered the Water Barrier—ignored him.
So did Terumi Mei.
Kakashi silently walked back to the boat and sat down with his hands on his knees.
"Eh? Kakashi-sensei…"
Naruto and Sasuke looked at him, confused.
"Why are you depressed again?"
Terumi Mei, meanwhile, had shifted her full attention.
"What's your favorite food?"
"What fruit do you like best?"
"When you shower, what part do you wash first? I usually start with my shoulders."
"Dogs or cats?"
"Do you have a girlfriend?"
Kitahara Hitoshi sighed.
"I officially declare—I am not going to Kirigakure."
Terumi Mei smiled.
"I know. But I can go to Konoha."
Kitahara was speechless.
Zabuza stood quietly beside them.
He realized, in a single flash of understanding—no one was even paying attention to him anymore.
Had he already been reduced…
to a supporting role?
