Chapter 5: Chapter 5
*Chapter 5: The Journey Begins*
The clan leader's words echoed in Anshi's mind as he prepared for his journey. "The clan's annual competition is starting soon, so do your best to cultivate and master your Dragon Fist technique. Make a name for yourself during the event, and don't shame your master."
Anshi's determination grew with each passing moment. He was ready to face whatever challenges lay ahead, to prove himself and make his master proud.
As he walked through the clan's grounds, Anshi noticed several of his clan members watching him. Some of them whispered to each other, their eyes filled with a mixture of curiosity and disdain.
Anshi ignored them, his focus solely on his mission. He had three months to train and prepare for the annual clan competition, and he was determined to make the most of his time.
Before heading to the Cai Mountain Forest, Anshi decided to visit his master, Ling Xiao, to inform him of his plans. He found Ling Xiao meditating in his courtyard, surrounded by a serene aura.
"Speak your mind, boy," Ling Xiao said, his eyes still closed. "I can hear you."
Anshi explained his plans, seeking his master's permission. Ling Xiao granted his permission, saying, "You're going to the Cai Mountain Forest to hone your skills by fighting demonic beasts. That's no big deal compared to the ambitions in your heart."
Ling Xiao's words filled Anshi with a sense of pride and purpose. He knew that his master believed in him, and that gave him the courage to face whatever challenges lay ahead.
As Anshi prepared to leave, Ling Xiao cautioned him, "Remember, stay only on the outer perimeter of the forest. Don't go too deep, or you'll risk encountering mid-1st stage beasties."
Anshi nodded, his mind racing with excitement and anticipation. He was ready to face whatever dangers lay ahead, to prove himself and make his master proud.
The day of his departure finally arrived, and Anshi set off towards the Cai Mountain Forest. As he walked, he felt a sense of freedom and adventure wash over him. He was finally taking control of his destiny, and he was ready to face whatever challenges lay ahead.
The Cai Mountain Forest loomed before him, its towering trees and winding paths stretching out like an endless sea. Anshi took a deep breath, steeling himself for the journey ahead.
He walked for hours, the silence broken only by the sound of birds chirping and leaves rustling in the wind. Anshi's senses were on high alert, his eyes scanning the surroundings for any signs of danger.
As the sun began to set, Anshi noticed a strange energy emanating from a nearby thicket. He drew his sword, his heart pounding with excitement.
Suddenly, a low-ranking demonic beast emerged from the thicket. It was a small, wolf-like creature with razor-sharp claws and teeth. The beast's eyes glowed with an eerie red light, and its fur stood on end as it let out a menacing growl.
Anshi's instincts kicked in, and he charged forward, his sword flashing in the fading light. The beast snarled and snapped, its jaws wide open as it lunged at Anshi.
Anshi dodged to the side, avoiding the beast's attack by a hair's breadth. He countered with a swift strike, aiming for the beast's exposed flank. But the beast was too quick, and it dodged Anshi's attack with ease.
The beast retaliated with a flurry of claws, swiping at Anshi with deadly precision. Anshi leapt backward, avoiding the claws by mere inches. He landed awkwardly, his footwork stumbling as he struggled to regain his balance.
The beast sensed Anshi's momentary weakness and pounced, its jaws wide open as it lunged for the kill. Anshi raised his sword, bracing himself for the impact.
But just as the beast was about to strike, Anshi remembered his master's words: "A true warrior must always be aware of his surroundings." Anshi focused his senses, feeling the energy of the forest flowing through him.
With renewed clarity, Anshi saw an opening and took it. He sidestepped the beast's attack and countered with a powerful strike, aiming for the beast's heart. The sword sliced through the air, biting deep into the beast's flesh.
The beast let out a pained yelp, its body stumbling backward as it dissipated into nothingness. Anshi stood panting, his sword still trembling with the force of his strike.
He felt a surge of energy flow through him, a sense of pride and accomplishment washing over him. He had just defeated his first demonic beast, and he knew that this was just the beginning of his journey.
As he caught his breath, Anshi realized that the battle had taken a toll on him. His Qi was depleted, and his muscles ached with fatigue. He knew that he needed to rest and recover before continuing his training.
Anshi found a nearby clearing and sat down, closing his eyes as he focused on his breathing. He could feel his Qi flowing through him, slowly replenishing his depleted energy.
As he meditated, Anshi realized that the battle had taught him a valuable lesson. He had learned to stay focused and aware, even in the heat of battle. He had learned to trust his instincts and rely on his training.
With a newfound sense of confidence, Anshi opened his eyes and stood up. He knew that he still had a long way to go, but he was ready for whatever challenges lay ahead.
