The thought didn't linger long. He quickly shook his head. "No, if that were the case, I'd be tied to a chair with duct tape over my mouth."

He looked around again.

The scene before him was like something straight out of a sci-fi movie. The ceiling glowed softly with a purple hue, while holograms danced across the walls, casting shimmering patterns of light. By his bedside sat a sleek, futuristic computer that didn't look like anything from Earth.

"...What is this place?" Lin Xuanyu whispered, baffled.

He felt like he'd stumbled into the set of some space-opera film.

Moments ago, he'd been in his tiny apartment, struggling with a first-semester college assignment. He distinctly remembered taking a break after just 30 minutes of grueling work, intending to play his favorite online shooter game. But then his vision had blanked out—and now he was here.

He looked at the computer sitting on the desk.

Maybe it had the answers he was looking for.

As he stood up from his bed to approach the table with the computer, a sudden flicker in his vision stopped him cold. His surroundings blurred violently.
