Chapter 548 The Greatest Lie
A month had passed, and during that time, the world had finally stabilized.
There was something that had been bothering me ever since I conquered the entire world. I'm very sensitive to these kinds of things, so I needed to test my theory.
I was now flying toward the center of the portals created by Mirro, following Zely's orders. I had sent three of my clones to finish the job, but all of them had been killed, which was shocking.
Even though they weren't as powerful as me, those three should have been almost impossible to defeat, especially if they worked together.
But, they all died before they could do anything or send any signals to me.
"Where did you connect these portals?" I asked.
"Some planet," Mirro replied, sounding evasive. I transformed him into a bracelet to ensure he couldn't escape.
"Some planet? And it managed to defeat three of my clones?" I raised an eyebrow.
"Master, you might be overwhelmingly powerful on Earth, but the universe is vast. There are many powerful beings out there," Mirro said.
"Do you really think I'll lose?" I laughed, shaking my head at Mirro's continued underestimation.
Even now, I doubted anyone could stand against me if I really went all out.
Mirro remained silent, so I continued toward the portal . Discover exclusive tales on My Virtual Library Empire
When I arrived, the scene was unsettling. The area had transformed into a hellscape. Magma flowed everywhere, and the temperature was rising uncontrollably.
As I hovered over the land, I noticed strange anomalies in the environment.
The heat felt unnaturally intense, and the lava seemed to pulse with an eerie rhythm. It was as if the landscape itself was alive and reacting to my presence.
Suddenly, the molten lava beneath me began to churn violently.
BOOOOOOOM!
A massive explosion erupted, sending fiery debris and molten rock into the air.
The ground shook violently, and the heat grew so intense that the air was nearly unbearable. As the debris flew towards me, I waved my hand, disintegrating it instantly.
But it didn't stop there. Thousands of swirling vortex of lava burst out, threatening to kill me. This wasn't normal magma; each stream was hotter than the surface of the sun.
"This is stupid," I said, clapping my hands.
BOOOM!
It created a powerful sound wave that destroyed everything in its path. The force was so intense that it parted the clouds and was felt across the entire world.
"A World Destroyer!" Mirro exclaimed from the bracelet.
"World Destroyer?" I asked, puzzled.
This was the first time I had heard that term.
The bracelet trembled with Mirro's anxiety.
"This is a serious situation. A World Destroyer occurs when a planet evolves too quickly, beyond its natural limits. What did you do?"
"Nothing," I replied, puzzled. "And what do you mean by 'beyond its limits'?"
"Planets have natural boundaries to maintain balance. When a planet exceeds these boundaries, a catastrophic event, like a World Destroyer, happens to reset it. Only a few civilizations can survive it."
"Interesting," I mused aloud.
"Don't be too complacent. Even gods avoid World Destroyers. They're on a different level, and their power scales with the threat," Mirro warned.
"Wait, so if I'm stronger, does that make it matched my power?" I asked.
"Yes! That's why gods would rather sacrifice a planet than risk facing one—"
Before Mirro could finish, the molten lava began to cool rapidly, as if nothing had happened.
"What did you do?" Mirro asked, confused.
"What do you mean? I erased it," I replied nonchalantly.
"You erased it?" Mirro's voice wavered.
"Yes, I located the core and erased it from existence," I explained.
"You can do that?" Mirro's voice trembled, realizing he had greatly underestimated me.
"Well, now that's taken care of, do I need to worry about another one of these World Destroyers?" I asked.
Mirro, still stunned, took a moment to respond. "No, I don't think so. Your actions mean Earth is now ready for further evolution."
"That's it? That was pretty easy," I sighed, feeling it was more of a minor challenge than anything significant. I had expected something more challenging.
I wished I could have fought a much stronger opponent to satisfy my thirst for challenge and cure my boredom.
Just as I was about to leave
BOOOOOOM!
Ground shook again, and molten rock exploded into the air. From the fire, a humanoid figure shot up, made entirely of glowing, red-hot lava.
The figure's body flowed and shifted like liquid fire, crackling with intense heat. The temperature it gave off was so intense that it made the air around it crackled.
"I wished for a real challenge, and here it is," I muttered, shaking my head. "I knew it."
The figure closely resembled a character from a movie I had seen before, and something about the situation felt off.
I began to notice oddities—why were there familiar elements from my past experiences surfacing now?
"This might all just be an illusion," I sighed, my frustration growing. The sense of deja vu and the unreal nature of the scene started to make sense.
"What are you talking about? This is real! If you don't deal with that thing, this world will be destroyed!" Mirro's voice was tinged with panic.
"You're not real either," I said calmly, a sense of realization settling in.
Mirro's eyes widened in disbelief. "How can I not be real? I've existed for millions of years."
To prove my point, I made a simple wish with no power involved.
"I wish there were two of you," I said. Mirro's form suddenly duplicated, with another version of him appearing beside him.
The duplicate looked just as real, but it quickly began to glitch and fade away.
As the second Mirro vanished into thin air, it became clear that both were mere illusions created by my own mind.
"I can't believe I fell for this trick," I chuckled.
What was even scarier was realizing that I hadn't figured it out until now.
It wasn't such a strange and sudden concept now that I thought about it, especially since some of my abilities could do this to others.
The only mistake I made was not considering that the same could be done to me. I became complacent and actually forgot about my own ability, "Dream Manipulation."
I felt like I had missed all the foreshadowing just because I was enjoying my life too much.
The real question was, since when?
