Chapter 297: | 297 | First Meeting of Ferus and Typhon Part 3
Colossal vessels of metal hung over the heavens of the capital city of Monstra. However, none of these strategic ships drifted across its skies to enact absolute decimation to those below it. The Combined-Fleet Longinus was merely the escort of the ones that stood at the very top of the United World Government, the Authority and the Dragon of Liberation.
Ten minutes later, Mercedes and Echidna stood before an empty and desolated square. It was where they would meet the rulers of the United World Government. Behind them were the Daemon Monarchs of the allied Typhon countries, and further at the rear were the Daemon Generals of Monstra. On the other hand, the guards enclosed the square, ensuring the security of their visitors.
Silence permeated throughout the surroundings as none uttered a single word. A squadron of Black Hawks descended, escorting a lone Sea King Helicopter. These aircrafts made their landing upon the desolated square, causing winds to surge outward. It was the first time that those from the Typhon Region contacted with the remarkable technologies of the World Government.
Whether it'd be the giant, hanging ships, or the sophisticated aircrafts.
It made many wonder how much more astounding technologies the United World Government hid beneath their covers. As they gazed onward, the Black Hawks opened, unveiling Sentinel Forces equipped with an arsenal capable of handling a magus. They stood with straightened backs and guarded the surroundings of the escorted Sea King.
"It has been a while." Mercedes smiled as she muttered to herself. Staying within the Kingdom of Monstra for over a month was an intriguing and nostalgic experience. But nothing could really experience the feeling of being part of the United World Government. It made her curious about how far the Atlas Conglomerate had ground.
The doors of the Sea King opened as a black-suited middle-aged man stepped out of it. His gaze was calm and cold, exuding authority and power without even uttering a single word. Following behind him was a gorgeous, silver-haired lady. Black draconic horns protruded from her head while a dark lizard tail shifted behind her.
Echidna and Mercedes composedly walked forward, meeting the two most important visitors that had ever made their way within the capital city of Monstra. Abraham and Laplace sauntered through the desolated square, approaching the silver wolf and the daemoness heading towards their direction. In mere moments, they stood before each other.
At first, there was an awkward silence but Abraham calmly led the way and shook hands with Echidna then Mercedes. "It has been a while since our meeting, Echidna. I'm grateful that you took care well of Mercedes." The middle-aged man remarked with a smile, earning the not-so-good smile of Echidna. "You're welcome, Abraham."
"So, this is Typhon, huh?" It wasn't Abraham or Laplace that uttered such words. Behind the dragoness was a little girl, hiding behind the body of her mother. She was none other than Tiamat, the daughter of the Authority and the Dragon of Liberation. The little dragon wasn't supposed to be brought alongside the two, but for the first time since her birth, she begged to her parents.
Naturally, Abraham and Laplace couldn't resist the cute temptations and request of their daughter. They had no choice but to bring her along. Mercedes raised her eyebrows, surprised that the two actually brought Little Tiamat with them. Laplace ushered the little girl to step forward and introduced herself. Tiamat gazed upon the two and uttered. "Hi, Aunties... I'm Tiamat."
Although Echidna understood that she needed to maintained her regal and graceful image to the masses, she almost couldn't resist the urge to pinch the cure and plump cheeks of Little Tiamat. She could only take a deep breath and also introduced herself with a smile. "Hello, Tiamat. I'm Echidna, your aunt." The daemoness was about to hug the cute little girl, but stopped herself from doing so.
"Ehem, I'm sure that the two of you are curious about the mainland. Typhon Region is a pretty interesting place, and a large one at that." Mercedes coughed and decided to take the lead of the conversation. Abraham and Laplace nodded, decided to follow whatever Mercedes and Echidna prepared for them.
Meanwhile, the Daemon Monarchs were dumbfounded. At first, they were surprised to see a dragon other than a Dragon Monarch. But to see a second and little one was even more astounding. Usually, the Dragon Monarch would have been excited to meet another dragon. After all, dragons was a rarity within the Primordial World.
But his excitement turned cold as he noticed the power radiating from the two. They were strong, too powerful. No wonder they didn't fear the Sovereigns of the League of Humanity. Wielding such power would make anyone fearless. 'The Dragon of Liberation and the Authority. There is no doubt that they are capable of rivalling a Sovereign.' He quietly thought to himself.
At any rate, following the arrival of the three visitors. A Banquet began. Even though first perception that the Daemon Monarchs had of Abraham was that of a cold man. It wasn't difficult to befriend and talk with him. It seemed that he wasn't as emotionally detached as they had previously thought. On the other hand, Laplace, Mercedes, and Echidna already formed a circle.
Of course, Little Tiamat was with them.
"Laplace, is the integration of the new states heading in a good direction?" While sipping a glass of wine, Mercedes questioned as she wasn't intricately updated with the circumstance of the United World Government and the wider Ferus Sea. Laplace glanced at her and thought about it for a moment before responding. "I guess it's heading in an adequate direction."
"Although, it is taking a toll to the United World Government. Managing such large regions and new states all at once is bound to be troublesome." The voice of the dragoness was calm, soothing, and alluring. Mercedes nodded in satisfaction. It seemed that the Atlas Conglomerate was doing well. But Echidna was surprised to hear about the expansion of the United World Government.
"The United World Government actually expanded? Did you pierce through the Frontier and established territory there?" She found it difficult to believe as the country was surrounded by Colonial Dominions at all sides. Hearing her confusing, a tight chuckle escaped the supple lips of Laplace. She then shook her head and responded to the daemoness.
"We haven't touched the Frontier yet. Instead, we took control of every Colonial Dominion within the Ferus Sea. In simpler terms, other than the Frontier, over half of Ferus Sea is under the influence and authority of the United World Government." Laplace's response was resounding and shocking. Echidna had never thought that the country would grow so much in mere months.
"I never thought that the Colonial Dominions would fall so quick. And to think that there isn't a violent reaction from the League of Humanity. One would expect them to be declaring a crusade against the Ferus Sea." Echidna muttered to herself, clearly unable to correlate the truth from reality. Mercedes also understood why it seemed false.
The Colonial Dominions weren't to be underestimated. Even though they were nothing more but colonies, they were second in power following the great powers of the League of Humanity. They were much stronger than weak countries that sprawled throughout the Continent of Europa. The fact over dozen of them had fallen in a month was akin to the heaven collapsed unto the earth.
"What can I say? Must husband is a genius." Laplace merely shook her head and acted as though she was stating a fact. Before even the war had begun, her husband had already prepared an army that would further reinforced his influence over the United Military. The disabling of the Combined-Offensive Fleet merely augmented the impact of the Sentinel.
"And the reaction of the Continent of Europa is to be expected. Even if the United World Government was slightly weaker than the League of Humanity, they wouldn't be able to declare war against us and concentrate their resources without attracting the attention of other major species within the continent." Mercedes stated, earning the nod of agreement from the daemoness.
"You're right, once the start a crusade, a whole can of worms would be unraveled. The elves and dwarves would probably not stay still and use this as an opportunity to attack the League of Humanity. With their aggressive expansion in the past centuries, there is no doubt that there isn't some resentment from the nature-loving elves and the technology-loving dwarves."
Echidna expounded the two since she wasn't ignorant of the sociopolitical circumstance that the League of Humanity found itself embroiled in. The three gorgeous ladies continued their conversation while Tiamat merely drank juice and observed them with interest. It was, after all, her first time leaving the Ferus Sea. She needed to be behave to get a chance of exploring it.
Somewhere within the capital city of Monstra, a small, lone, robed girl was walking through the streets and munching on bread. Behind her were mage apprentices who had come under her mentorship since they were a child. Although, apprentices. They weren't to be underestimated as the two had the capabilities of an Archmagus.
"Miss Althea, why are we in the middle of a monster nation?" The girl apprentice timidly complained as they were supposed to be heading towards a nearby human country. But for some unknown reason, their mentor decided to change their destination into the middle of nowhere. While they trusted their master, the two were still confused as to what brought them here.
"I heard that esteemed visitors from somewhere else would drop by, so I'm curious about who they are." Their mentor aloofly explained with a soft yet mature voice that echoed hundreds of years of experience. A sliver of a long-eared apparition formed from the hood of her robe, revealing a tinge of her identity.
