Chapter 582: Chapter 582: In the Mist
Accompanied by a severe sense of dizziness, Reiki passed through a chaotic fog. The pulling sensation of space was uncomfortable, but fortunately, it subsided quickly.
"Boom!"
A burst of white mist enveloped Reiki as he emerged into a strange world.
"Is there natural energy here too?" he muttered, taking a moment to assess his surroundings. The environment was suffused with a faint presence of natural energy, though not overwhelmingly so.
Reiki's understanding of Sage Lands was that they were independent spaces brimming with powerful natural energy, ideal for practicing Sage Arts. However, a Sage Land required more than just natural energy—it also needed the methods to harness it.
The Chidori clan, for instance, carried natural energy in their blood but lacked the means to practice Sage Arts. As a result, their clan had nearly gone extinct.
A Mysterious Encounter
While lost in thought, Reiki sensed an investigative presence nearby. "Someone has noticed me," he realized. Without hesitation, he moved toward the source of the probing energy.
Soon, Reiki arrived at a hillside platform where the presence was strongest. Sitting atop it was a massive old turtle, its shell resembling a small hill.
"A ninja? Or something else? Come closer, young one," the turtle spoke, its ancient voice carrying an air of wisdom.
Reiki cupped his hands respectfully. "Please forgive me for the intrusion. I wished to explore the world of the so-called psychic beasts and seek answers to my questions."
The turtle remained silent for a moment before responding. "Ask. If I know, I will tell you."
Reiki wasted no time. "What conditions are required for a world to be promoted to a Sage Land?"
The old turtle pondered for a moment before answering cryptically. "When the time is right, the conditions will reveal themselves. The preparations you need to make will also become clear. Do you not already have some of the answers?"
The response left Reiki unsatisfied. It was as mysterious as it was unhelpful, providing no concrete information.
The turtle continued, "Stay here and think. Or, wander and explore. You may find what you need." It then closed its eyes, retreating into silence.
Exploring the Turtle's Domain
Reiki bowed to the turtle in gratitude and wandered through the area. The world was inhabited by various turtles, each absorbed in its own activities. Some basked in the sun, while others leisurely ate or moved about. Their gentle demeanor meant they paid little attention to Reiki's presence.
After some time, Reiki stopped in his tracks. "Wait... am I walking out of this place?" Turning around, he realized the faint natural energy that had permeated the air earlier was now gone.
He climbed a tall tree and surveyed his surroundings, expanding his perception. "This isn't the psychic beast's world anymore. This is... the Land of Fire?"
The realization shocked him. Though he had been walking in a straight line, he somehow returned to the ninja world. Changing direction and retracing his steps didn't help—he couldn't re-enter the psychic beast's world.
A Spatial Puzzle
Sitting on the tree trunk, Reiki reflected on his experience. "Is there something wrong with the space itself? Or did I unknowingly pass through some kind of teleportation barrier?"
The more he thought about it, the more plausible it seemed. The psychic beast worlds might not be directly connected to the ninja world. Instead, they were likely isolated and accessible only through special transmission methods.
"Could this mean these worlds are just like the Sage Lands—independent spaces?" Reiki mused, remembering the old turtle's cryptic words.
With no definitive answers, Reiki decided to try again. This time, he used Kakashi's ninja dog summoning contract.
The result was the same. After wandering aimlessly, he returned to the ninja world. This reinforced his theory: the psychic beast worlds were separate, yet somehow intertwined with the ninja world through unique spatial mechanisms.
Back at the Special Training Camp
Returning to the special training camp, Reiki sat under a large tree, deep in thought. His friends noticed his silence.
"Shisui, will Reiki be okay?" Nozuki asked, her voice tinged with worry. Among their group, she and Shisui were closest to Reiki, but even they didn't fully understand what he was trying to accomplish.
Shisui shook his head. "I don't know. But this is just how Reiki is. He always has some strange ideas, and we just have to support him."
Nozuki nodded. "I hope he finds what he's looking for."
The group decided to focus on their own training while waiting for instructions. Meanwhile, word of Konoha's special training camp activities began to spread. Other ninja villages, already wary of Reiki's reputation, started paying closer attention to the situation.
Reiki remained under the tree, lost in thought. "A special transmission method..." he muttered to himself, piecing together fragments of insight.
He wasn't just chasing answers anymore—he was uncovering truths that could change the understanding of space and Sage Lands forever.
