Chapter 86: Chapter 86: Counter Every Move
Orochimaru: …
Was his laboratory really this easy to find?
First, it was that masked man appearing unannounced before him.
And now, a mysterious figure loomed behind him without warning.
Was the shinobi world filled with this many secret masterminds?
The shadowy figure made a request so astonishing that even Orochimaru, with his boundless curiosity, was momentarily taken aback.
To resurrect Uchiha Madara.
"Which member of the Akatsuki are you supposed to be?" Orochimaru's expression darkened as he stared intently at the shadow. His Mangekyō Sharingan spun ominously, yet even with its power, he couldn't discern the figure's face. Caution crept into his demeanor.
"I am indeed with the Akatsuki, but that's irrelevant."
"I can provide you with Madara's corpse, fully intact, and ensure he retains his strength from life. With him as your ally, killing Senju Tobirama would be a trivial matter."
The figure, cloaked entirely in black, spoke in a low, gravelly voice.
This was Black Zetsu.
The devastation Tobirama wrought on Iwagakure had left Black Zetsu anxious.
And now, with the information his White Zetsu spies scattered across the shinobi world brought back, he was stunned.
The day before Iwagakure's annihilation, Tobirama, along with Uchiha Itachi, had captured three Jinchūriki—those of the Four-Tails, Six-Tails, and Seven-Tails—in just two days.
Their speed and efficiency were so overwhelming that Black Zetsu's intelligence network could barely keep up.
What was meant to be chaos for Black Zetsu to exploit had instead turned him into a helpless observer.
If they wanted the tailed beasts back now, they'd have to steal them from Konoha directly. But given the Akatsuki's current strength, that was laughable.
Not to mention Tobirama, a shinobi capable of wiping out an entire village on his own. Konoha's strength had reached unprecedented heights, with two of the legendary Sannin back in the village and Uchiha Itachi wielding Shisui's transplanted Mangekyō Sharingan.
This deviation from Black Zetsu's millennium-spanning plan was intolerable. To regain control, there was only one solution—revive Uchiha Madara.
Only Madara had the power to seal Tobirama.
This plan, of course, was kept secret from Obito.
Obito would never willingly revive Madara. That boy had his own schemes and would never follow Madara's plans entirely.
But to Madara, Black Zetsu was his will incarnate. Madara would undoubtedly listen to him. Once revived, Madara could seal Tobirama, reclaim the Jinchūriki, and awaken the Ten-Tails.
Afterward, Black Zetsu would use Nagato to resurrect Madara as the Ten-Tails' Jinchūriki.
Only then could his plan proceed as originally envisioned.
Otherwise, he would be forced to wait another millennium for the next Indra reincarnation with Rinnegan to emerge.
Hearing this, even Orochimaru was momentarily stunned.
Collaborating with the Akatsuki to hold off Tobirama during their attack on Konoha was part of their initial deal.
But why was this mysterious figure meeting him alone, specifically requesting Madara's resurrection?
There was an enormous secret buried here, one Orochimaru was determined to uncover.
For the first time, Orochimaru felt as though the shinobi world was a colossal chessboard, with countless unseen hands manipulating pieces in an intricate game.
The masked Sharingan user, the uncontrollable Second Hokage, and now this enigmatic figure cloaked in black.
Even Pain seemed to be just another pawn in their schemes.
Not long ago, Orochimaru believed that with the fusion of Crystal Release and the Sharingan, he could rival the likes of Hashirama Senju and Uchiha Madara.
Now, it seemed he had been a frog at the bottom of a well.
Still, obtaining Madara's body could prove immensely beneficial.
Sweat beaded on his forehead. Orochimaru licked his lips and rasped:
"Fine. Hand over Uchiha Madara's corpse."
The shadowy figure nodded.
Mission: Crush Iwagakure (Completed)
Reward: Water Release Enhancement (Delivered)
A flash of white light surged into Tobirama's body, making him narrow his eyes slightly.
Though he felt no immediate difference...
After leveling Iwagakure last night, Tobirama had returned to Konoha.
The moment he stepped into his office, he was surrounded by Shikaku, Tsunade, Jiraiya, and others.
"Hokage-sama!"
"Second Granduncle!"
"Second Gra—"
"Jiraiya, are you tired of living?"
"Wait, what's going on here? Why are all of you gathered?" Tobirama's gaze swept over them, his tone calm but commanding.
"Hokage-sama, what on earth did you do to Iwagakure?!" Shikaku asked, his face pale with shock.
In the early hours, the three members of the Hoshigakure team had returned, but only two survived.
According to their report, the kunai they threw into Iwagakure's territory triggered an attack by the Iwa shinobi, drawing out Ōnoki himself.
One of their teamt, was killed by Ōnoki's Dust Release.
But amidst the chaos, the Iwa shinobi suddenly abandoned their pursuit to fight someone else.
The two survivors saw a giant over 100 meters tall appear within Iwagakure, and amidst the commotion, they managed to escape.
An hour after their escape, a series of explosions obliterated the village.
By morning, news had spread across the shinobi world:
Iwagakure was destroyed, Ōnoki was dead, and of the village's population, barely a thousand managed to flee to the Land of Earth's capital.
And the perpetrator was none other than their Hokage—Senju Tobirama.
"Shikaku, don't overreact," Tobirama said coolly. "This was just a minor punishment for Iwagakure."
"If they choose to oppose Konoha, this outcome is only natural."
The icy words left his lips as if this were a trivial matter.
"Second Granduncle, you're amazing!" Tsunade exclaimed, throwing herself into Tobirama's arms, her golden hair brushing against his armor as she clung to him. Jiraiya, watching from the side, seemed momentarily dazed.
"Be that as it may, Hokage-sama, wiping out Iwagakure has left the remaining villages on edge. They'll do everything they can to retaliate against Konoha," Shikaku said, rubbing his chin thoughtfully, his brow furrowed.
"Since your goal is to gather all the tailed beasts, conflict with the other villages is inevitable. But with Akatsuki also targeting the tailed beasts, and after seeing your strength, it's only a matter of time before Pain acts against Konoha," Uchiha Itachi added from the back, his tone heavy with concern.
"Then let them come," Tobirama said, gently patting Tsunade's head. His voice remained steady, calm.
"Against soldiers, we'll send soldiers. Against water, we'll use earth to dam it."
It wasn't arrogance—it was confidence born of strength. The reward of enhanced Water Release gave him all the assurance he needed.
