Naruto: Starting with Snatching the Mangekyō Sharingan

Chapter 144: Chapter 144: The Technique of the Wooden Golem

In an instant, the Kamui Shuriken shattered, splitting into a rift of pitch-black spatial distortion.

A moment later, Yugito Nii let out an ear-piercing scream, the wail echoing across the battlefield.

A massive Kamui Shuriken had grazed Yugito Nii's body, while another was intercepted by the tendrils of roots extending from a Wood Release technique.

Where the shuriken passed, the space around Nii's body twisted into a spiraling vortex visible to the naked eye.

In the next moment, Yugito Nii's back, along with one of her hind legs, was forcibly consumed by the distorted space.

"As I suspected... a jutsu formed by the power of time and space." Nagato's face darkened at the sight.

"Such a pity," Akira muttered regretfully from the brow of his Susanoo. "If the Gedo Statue's chains hadn't dragged Yugito Nii just enough to shift his position, the shuriken would've taken her head."

The bluish chains of the Gedo Statue tightened, clinking ominously as the gravely injured Yugito Nii was forcibly hauled into its gaping maw.

In an instant, a tightly shut eye on the Gedo Statue's forehead snapped open!

"Good... even an incomplete tailed beast is enough to fuel the Gedo Statue's revival. It's just missing a fraction of chakra, so the impact is minimal," Nagato thought, breathing a sigh of relief.

Suddenly, a series of thunderous booms resounded from the sky. Two colossal Susanoo loomed, wings unfurling as they dove toward the Gedo Statue below.

Nagato inhaled deeply, weaving hand signs in the blink of an eye.

"Fire Release: Hiding in Ash and Dust Technique!"

A dense cloud of fiery ash spewed forth from his mouth, blanketing the battlefield. The smoke, saturated with chakra, rendered even the Byakugan ineffective.

The flapping wings of the Susanoo stirred a tempestuous wind, dispersing the smog in moments.

As the smoke cleared, Nagato and the Gedo Statue were nowhere to be found.

Realizing this, the two towering Susanoo vanished as well.

Meanwhile, Killer B remained trapped within the confines of the dense wooden cage created by the Wood Release. Nagato's Deva Path Hanzo of the Salamander had cornered him, preventing any attempt to break free.

While the Deva Path couldn't overpower Killer B, they were more than capable of keeping him contained within the Wood Release barrier.

Gyūki, the Eight-Tails, took control of B's body, gazing solemnly at the figures of Nagato and Hanzo ahead.

At this point, words were unnecessary—each side understood the gravity of the situation.

Gyūki, knowing far more about the Rinnegan than Killer B, resolved to confront Nagato himself.

Suddenly, dark clouds loomed over the battlefield, shrouding the area in shadows.

"So fast! Was that a space-time jump?" Nagato's heart sank. He had only just arrived here, yet the enemy moved with such precision.

"B, things aren't looking good for us," Gyūki muttered, his voice tinged with bitterness.

The Eight-Tails, second in power only to the Nine-Tails, had never imagined a day where it would feel this helpless.

"Quit moping, Gyūki! If we're going down, we're taking a chunk out of them!" B bellowed.

"Meeting you was my greatest fortune, B. Let's go all out, one last time!" Gyūki roared, its resolve reignited.

Above, Akira said nothing. The two massive Susanoo drew their swords, black blades glinting ominously.

In a flash, each Susanoo unleashed three devastating slashes—one aimed at the Eight-Tails, the other at Nagato.

Nagato clasped his hands together, shouting,

"Wood Release!"

A gigantic, snarling oni-faced shield enveloped Nagato and Hanzo, its defense absolute. This was the Thousand-Armed Kannon's ultimate protective tool, capable of withstanding almost anything.

On the other side, Gyūki had no such luxury. It relied solely on its agility to evade.

But the Susanoo's slashes were impossible to fully avoid.

Despite its efforts, Gyūki's body was partially severed by the black sword energy.

The battlefield lay in ruins. The Eight-Tails' lower body had been sliced clean off, its tails scattered like broken tentacles across the ground.

The Eight-Tails lay motionless, gravely weakened and barely able to move.

Against another's Perfect Susanoo, it might have endured longer. But Akira's techniques were in a league of their own.

Resistance was futile against the power of Kamui. Engaging in close combat only hastened death.

Meanwhile, Nagato's Shield was relatively unscathed, bearing only a few gashes from the attack. The strike hadn't been imbued with Kamui's power.

As the shield parted, Nagato emerged with his hands clasped, and Hanzo raised his arms toward the two Susanoo.

"Chibaku Tensei!"

Nagato's right hand extended upward, a small black sphere forming and splitting into three smaller cores that ascended into the sky.

"Shinra Tensei!"

Hanzo unleashed his full-strength Shinra Tensei without hesitation.

Nagato, now far stronger than before, had amplified his Rinnegan's abilities. Even the Perfect Susanoo struggled against the immense repelling force, pushed away into the distance.

The three gravity cores hovered in the sky, pulling chunks of earth upward.

Massive boulders, tens of meters across, were ripped from the ground, ascending as if in reverse meteoric rain.

"Kamui, twice!"

Two of the gravity spheres were swallowed by spatial vortices, leaving only the third intact.

The two Uchiha Akira avatars locked onto the remaining core, slashing it with their black blades.

Boom!

The core exploded in a fiery detonation, scattering debris across the crimson sky.

"Still not enough…" Nagato frowned, his heart sinking. Chibaku Tensei's shortcomings were glaringly apparent against opponents of this caliber.

At that moment, one of the Susanoo crumbled into shimmering particles of chakra, dispersing into the air. Akira, who had been within it, vanished without a trace.

The remaining Susanoo descended, its prolonged flight having drained too much ocular power.

"My left eye is completely spent…" Akira narrowed his eyes, unfazed.

Though both eyes were Mangekyō Sharingan, their abilities differed. The left eye governed the summoning of past selves, a power distinct from the right.

Gazing at Nagato, who stood ready below, Akira mused, "This guy's growth is astonishing. Even for me, defeating him will take a prolonged battle of attrition."

Akira harbored no doubt about his eventual victory. Nagato was no match for him. But eliminating him outright required time and effort.

"His technique has run its course? This might be my chance!" Nagato's eyes gleamed with determination.

Clasping his hands together, he roared, "Wood Release: Wood Human Technique!"

Nagato's chakra surged, his crimson hair billowing as a colossal wooden figure rose from the ground.

This was the true Wooden Golem, identical to the one used by Hashirama Senju.

The Wooden Golem, entwined with serpentine dragons, was the perfect counter to a Perfect Susanoo in close combat.
