Chapter 151: Chapter 151: The Next Step

Ignoring Koharu's minor interruption, Mirai returned to the Uchiha compound.

At home, the dining table was laden with exquisite dishes.

Mikoto and Yakumo were nowhere to be seen. The only one present was Konan, dressed in a thin robe, kneeling by the table with her head lowered.

"Konan, why are you alone? Where are Mikoto and Yakumo?"

Hearing Mirai's question, a blush spread from Konan's ears, quickly creeping down her neck and disappearing beneath her robe.

After a moment, she murmured softly, her voice barely audible, "Yakumo said she wanted to grab some canvases and painting supplies. She dragged Mikoto along to Risa Hills Manor."

Mirai sat down beside her, paying no mind to the sumptuous meal before him. Instead, he spoke in a low, suggestive tone.

"Have you bathed already?"

Konan's breath hitched at the implication in his words.

"Mirai, let's… let's eat first," she stammered.

Mirai chuckled lightly, shaking his head. "Seeing you, I'm already full."

Konan blinked, her expression blank. "Huh? Why?"

Leaning closer, Mirai whispered hotly into her ear, "Because you're a feast for the eyes."

Before Konan could respond, she found herself swept into his arms with a surprised cry.

"Danzo is gone. Now it's time for you to repay me for all I've done," Mirai declared as he held her tightly.

Burying her face in his chest, Konan went silent, retreating into herself like a startled turtle. She hadn't expected it to be so easy for Mirai to eliminate someone as entrenched in power as Danzo Shimura, one of the village's elders.

As Mirai carried her toward the bedroom, Konan clenched her eyes shut, her entire body stiff with tension.

Noticing her state, a faint smile graced Mirai's lips. To mold someone from innocence to maturity… It was a possessive desire many men couldn't put into words.

Today, he would begin that process with Konan.

The next morning, Mirai rose from the bed, leaving Konan to rest after the long night. Dressing quietly, he left the room and headed to the Hokage building.

There, Uchiha Hachida, Uchiha Shisui, and Nara Shikaku were already waiting for him. Ever since the imprisonment of Hiruzen Sarutobi, Mirai had been steadily shifting the center of operations to the Hokage's office.

The moment Mirai entered, Shisui and the others stood respectfully, their excitement barely contained.

For the first time since Konoha's founding, the Uchiha clan was holding council in the Hokage building.

"Report," Mirai ordered calmly.

Hachida immediately stepped forward. "The remnants of the Shimura clan's shinobi have mostly gone silent. According to village records, some Root ninjas are still on missions outside the village. We've already dispatched teams to deal with them."

He continued, "The police force has also been restructured. We've recruited promising non-clan shinobi for lower ranks, while the middle ranks are filled with elite members from other clans. However, the core leadership remains firmly under Uchiha control."

"There's also been a request from several elders to hold a clan meeting to discuss the next steps for the Uchiha."

Mirai nodded thoughtfully before speaking. "Hachida, handle the transfer of Shimura clan assets. Allocate twenty percent to allied clans as goodwill, the rest will be used to improve conditions for our clansmen."

He added, "Spread scandals about the Mitokado and Utatane clans in the press. When the time is right, I'll ensure their complete removal from the village."

"As for the clan meeting, there's no need. The Uchiha's affairs are under my control, and that's final."

"Yes, sir!"

The deference in Hachida and the others' expressions deepened.

Erasing entire clans without hesitation—this was the fearsome decisiveness of Uchiha Mirai.

Compared to him, their own ambitions seemed almost timid.

"Shisui, update me on Itachi's progress," Mirai said, turning his attention to the young Uchiha.

Shisui smiled. "Itachi's growth has been remarkable. He's not even seven yet, but his strength already surpasses that of most genin. He's awakened the Sharingan and shows incredible potential. With the right guidance, he could eventually awaken the Mangekyo Sharingan."

He paused, then added with a chuckle, "He idolizes you, Captain. Every day, he pesters me to introduce him to you."

Mirai's lips curled into a smile. "Shisui, ensure his training continues. Don't let Hiruzen's so-called Will of Fire corrupt him. As for meeting me, I'll make time soon."

"Yes, Captain."

Shisui's admiration for Mirai grew with every interaction. Mirai's decision to nurture Itachi rather than eliminate him spoke volumes about his vision and leadership.

After dismissing Shisui and Hachida, Mirai turned to Shikaku.

"Shikaku, I hope I didn't keep you waiting too long."

Shikaku shook his head with a wry smile. "Not at all, Mirai-sama. Please, just give the order."

The nonchalant way Mirai had spoken of erasing clans earlier sent chills down Shikaku's spine. Though he'd once thought aligning with Mirai was a prudent move, he was beginning to have second thoughts.

Unlike Danzo or Hiruzen, who operated in secrecy, Mirai was brazen, decisive, and, most importantly, capable. His power and loyal followers made him a force unlike anything Konoha had seen before.

"I was just wondering," Mirai said, glancing at the calendar on his desk, "when is the next Chunin Exam scheduled?"
