Naruto: Infinite Reincarnation

Chapter 12: Injuries and Hope

Onochi POV

I opened my eyes to see an unfamiliar room. The room was purple and filled with purple decorations.

I tried to stand up, but as soon as I did, a sharp pain surged through my chest. Without using my upper body much, I began to look around. Beside me lay the fat kid, Amara. She was holding a teddy bear while dried tears had formed around her eyes.

Behind her, my mom sat in a chair, sleeping. Like Amara, she also had dried tears, but I think hers were for me, while Amara's were from shock.

I chuckled at the thought of the foul-mouthed Amara crying for someone else.

As I turned the other way, I was startled to see a man staring at me with white eyes. The man was Hyo.

"You're awake," he said in a warm tone.

He smiled at me brightly, with a hint of pride on his face. He continued with a slight bow, "I am truly grateful for what you did…"

I wanted to speak, but my throat was dry. Hearing the noise, my mother woke up.

When she saw me awake, she began to cry again. She stood up and gave me a hug, which made me scream in pain.

"Argh! Mom! It hurts!"

Startled, she quickly stopped and apologized with a smile. But her smile soon faded as she cried once again. She sat back down and spoke with a shaky voice, "I-I'm sorry, Onochi… I should have never left you alone… I—"

I cut her off, not wanting to see her more devastated. "It's fine, Mom. I'm still alive, aren't I?"

She looked at me, but as she did, she cried even more. "I don't know what I would do without you… When I saw you lying on the floor, my heart nearly gave out."

I chuckled dryly. "It's fine, Mom. The past is the past. There's no point in crying about it."

She tried to speak, but nothing came out of her mouth. As she stayed silent, Amara woke up from her slumber.

Amara stared at me when she woke up, and after a few seconds, her eyes began to waver. Her brows furrowed as she covered her mouth, trying not to puke.

"You better not throw up, fatty!" I warned.

She glared at me. "Shut up! I-I just remembered a few details…"

Hearing her trembling voice, I looked at her solemnly. She was a girl no older than seven—a girl who had never seen dead bodies.

Tears began to form in her eyes as she thought more about what had happened to us. I tried to ease the mood by jokingly saying, "Would you stop that? At least they didn't get your candies, huh?"

Her tears stopped, and she chuckled a bit. She clenched the bedsheets and said, "Thank you… for saving me."

I chuckled. "Yeah, it was hard carrying someone so heavy."

She looked back with flames in her eyes while gripping her teddy bear tightly. She raised her arm, ready to smack me, but my mother quickly stopped her with a light giggle.

"You're so lucky you're hurt right now, you white-eyed bastard!" she yelled, kicking the air.

As we yelled back and forth, the door opened. Six people stepped inside. The man in the middle was fat with purple hair. He wore a golden kimono with a golden crown. Behind him were four guards, all strong. The last one was a girl with dark hair and glasses.

Looking at the scene, the fat man chuckled apologetically and said, "Is Amara bothering you all?"

"No!"

"Yes!"

Amara and I spoke simultaneously, making us frown even more. Seeing how we acted, the adults in the room just sighed.

The fat man interrupted with an apology. "Onochi Dokukuro. I deeply apologize for what happened today. It was our incompetence that caused this tragedy."

"It's fine. But you do owe me," I said.

Mother was about to reprimand me for speaking to the Daimyo that way, but he stopped her and chuckled. "Yes, yes. I am infinitely grateful that you saved my precious daughter. So, in return, what would you like?"

"I'll use the favor in the future. For now, do you have any medical ninjas to heal me?" I asked.

"Onochi! Speak properly!" my mother reprimanded.

The Daimyo smiled. "It's fine." He looked at the lady beside him and said, "This here is one of the best medical-nin we have. Let her have a look at you."

I nodded, and the lady walked toward me. She examined me, and a green light formed in her palms. A refreshing sensation took over me, as if every single part of my body was being cleansed by cold water.

A few minutes passed, and my chest felt no pain. I got up, but as I did, I felt a sharp pain in my shoulders. "Argh! Why do my shoulders still hurt?"

The medical-nin looked at me with pity. "Your shoulders were damaged while dislocated. The attacker stabbed them in such a way that you won't be able to use them properly."

Hearing her words, I turned pale. I looked at my mother, who was stunned and couldn't move.

"T-That can't be right…" I stuttered.

My mind wavered as I thought about the past. I remembered what my friend once said, "You only have one life, might as well live it out now!"

How? How will I live out my best life if I can't even move my arms?

"Here, I can still move it… Argh!" I tried to move my arm, but the pain quickly stopped me.

The lady spoke in a sad tone. "You can still move them, but it will only hurt you and worsen your condition. If you want to use your arms freely again, you need rehabilitation. We would need to slowly push your shoulders back to where they belong while also destroying the newly adjusted form. Then heal it again."

"What do you mean?" my mother asked in a shaky voice.

"Every time your body is damaged, it naturally heals on its own. With the help of healing ninjutsu, this process speeds up. However, since your son's shoulders are a mess, we first need to destroy the fully recovered parts, then slowly put them back. Then heal them. Then repeat."

"Why can't we just put them back now?" my mom asked.

"That won't do. If we do that, there's a chance it'll all be damaged, and it might even affect his chakra control."

Scared, I asked, "How long will this process take?"

The medical-nin turned to me and said, "At the very least, it would take five years. Though that's just an estimate."

I frowned. "Didn't you say healing ninjutsu would help?"

"That's right. It will speed up your body's recovery."

"Then what's the—" Before I could finish, she spoke again.

"I can heal your body, yes, but I can't heal your chakra circulatory system or your chakra pathways. You need to recover them naturally. I'm not skilled enough for such injuries. I don't even think anyone in the Land of Wind is capable of doing so."

I looked down and thought to myself, 'Five years… It will only be five years.
