Chapter 39: Chapter 37 The Fall of Yagura
Boom!
Under Sasuke's guidance, the storm of thunder crashed down, striking Three Tails with devastating force.
A blinding flash erupted as the sheer power of the lightning engulfed the beast. The roar of electricity crackled through the air, sending waves rippling across the lake.
As the thunder dissipated, the massive tailed beast was gone.
Only Yagura remained—his body charred, unconscious, and floating limply on the water.
"Mizukage-sama!"
Ao rushed forward anxiously, followed closely by several Mist Anbu.
"Terumi Mei, you—"
"Relax, he's not dead," Sasuke interrupted, his tone calm.
"I controlled the intensity of the lightning. Tailed beasts are resilient, and this was only meant to incapacitate him."
Terumi Mei nodded, wasting no time as she reached for Yagura.
Ao activated his Byakugan and studied Yagura's chakra flow, his expression shifting.
Sasuke's Sharingan spun.
"Sharingan: Waning Moon!"
A faint cracking sound echoed within Yagura's mind. His glazed-over eyes gradually regained their clarity.
"Terumi Mei… Ao… What's… happening?"
Suddenly, he clutched his head in pain, memories flooding back all at once. His breath hitched as realization set in.
"I… I was the one who reignited the Blood Mist…"
His voice trembled.
Terumi Mei and the others watched, their expressions complicated.
"The illusion is broken," she murmured, relief and sorrow mixing in her tone.
Suddenly, Yagura coughed violently, blood trickling from his lips. His chakra flickered erratically, his body unable to bear the strain.
"Something's wrong! Get him medical attention—now!" Sasuke ordered.
The Anbu immediately moved, lifting Yagura and rushing toward the village.
As they disappeared into the mist, Ao clenched his fists. His gaze shifted to Sasuke.
"The Lightning Style you used just now… its power was monstrous."
He had underestimated the Konoha boy.
Sasuke said nothing. Instead, he watched Yagura's fading figure, deep in thought.
"It's likely severe mental damage," Terumi Mei muttered. "After years of genjutsu… and everything he's done under its influence…"
"Hmph. That Lightning Style certainly didn't help," Ao muttered, crossing his arms.
"I don't know if Mizukage-sama will survive this."
"Even if he does, he can't remain Mizukage," Terumi Mei replied solemnly.
Ao sighed.
---
BAM!
Ao slammed his palm against the table, his face twisted with anger.
"Damn it! We were deceived for years!"
His voice was filled with fury, the weight of Kirigakure's dark past pressing on his chest.
Memories of fallen comrades, of innocent shinobi slaughtered under Yagura's rule, flooded his mind.
"That puppet master in the shadows… If we ever find him, I swear he'll pay in blood!"
"For now, rebuilding the village comes first," Terumi Mei said firmly.
Ao took a deep breath, forcing himself to calm down.
"Sasuke," Terumi Mei turned to the young Uchiha. "Do you have any idea who was controlling Yagura?"
Sasuke met her gaze, his expression unreadable.
"I can't say for sure… but if someone is controlling a tailed beast using the Sharingan, there's only one possible suspect."
His words hung in the air.
The Uchiha.
Terumi Mei narrowed her eyes, processing the implications.
"An Uchiha?"
She frowned.
Before she could press further, a Mist shinobi entered the room.
"Lady Terumi Mei, the elders request your presence for an urgent discussion."
Terumi Mei glanced at Sasuke and smiled.
"Guess I'll have to owe you an explanation, little rascal."
With that, she turned and left.
---
Inside the council chamber, the elders sat in silence.
Master Yuan, the oldest among them, finally spoke.
"Yagura's condition is… grim."
"He has suffered extensive mental damage. At this rate, he only has a few days left."
Terumi Mei remained quiet.
Despite the grim news, a part of her felt relief. Kirigakure could finally move forward.
"Then… the village needs a new Mizukage," she said, her voice steady.
The elders exchanged glances before Master Yuan nodded.
"After much deliberation, we have decided—Terumi Mei, you will be the Fifth Mizukage."
Terumi Mei blinked, momentarily stunned.
"Me?"
"Do you refuse?" one of the elders asked.
She straightened her posture and took a deep breath.
"For the sake of Kirigakure, I accept."
A satisfied nod passed among the elders.
Ao, standing beside her, couldn't help but smile.
The village had suffered enough. With Terumi Mei as Mizukage, Kirigakure could finally move toward a new era.
"One more thing," Master Yuan added. "The truth about Yagura must never leave this room."
"What about the Konoha boy?" another elder asked.
Terumi Mei chuckled.
"I can personally guarantee he won't spread a word."
"Very well."
---
By the time night fell, Sasuke found himself in a lavish guest residence within Kirigakure.
The village had arranged it for honored guests—but he knew better. This was both a reward and a means to keep an eye on him.
Sasuke smirked as he settled into the room.
"This trip to the Land of Waves turned out quite fruitful."
Not only had he gained Haku's Ice Release, but he had also absorbed a significant portion of Three Tails' chakra.
Unnoticed by the others, he had taken a severed piece of Three Tails' tail, carefully extracting its chakra for himself.
As he moved toward his bed, he noticed something unexpected.
A figure lay beneath the covers.
Raising an eyebrow, Sasuke pulled back the blanket slightly.
The scent of jasmine filled his senses.
A sultry voice whispered in the dim light.
"Little rascal, I'm here to fulfill my promise."
Terumi Mei.
Sasuke chuckled.
"I knew you wouldn't break your word, Mizukage-sama."
He slid beneath the covers, his arms wrapping around her.
"Hmm, so you heard?" she murmured.
"The elders appointed me as the Fifth Mizukage."
"Oh? That makes you the most powerful woman in the village now."
Terumi Mei smirked, leaning close.
"That's right."
Her lips brushed against his ear.
"So tell me, little rascal… want to know what it's like to be with a Mizukage?"
Sasuke's smirk deepened.
"Absolutely."
The room was soon filled with warmth, laughter, and the whispers of two figures lost in the moment.
---
The next morning, Sasuke woke to find Terumi Mei gone.
He stretched, his hand reaching for the empty space beside him.
"Hmph, so that's what a Mizukage is like, huh?"
He smirked.
"Last night… I made history for the Uchiha clan."
As the sun rose over Kirigakure, a new chapter was about to begin.!
