Chapter 5: Naruto: Check out these scenes #5
As the video drew to a close, the atmosphere in the room shifted dramatically. People began to express their thoughts—some were deeply moved, while others couldn't help but scoff.
With a wild laugh, the Fourth Raikage remarked, "He risked everything just to seal a pair of hands? Truly remarkable!"
Danzo, a staunch supporter of the Sandaime Hokage, seized the moment to take a jab at his rival. "If I were in charge, this disaster wouldn't have happened." His tone dripped with sarcasm.
Sasuke, who had been unusually quiet, couldn't resist throwing in his own comment. "You gave it your all, but you only managed to seal a bridge." His words hung heavily in the air, a cutting remark directed at Danzo. [TN: I was confused at this at first but then I searched Samurai Bridge on the Narutowiki.]
Danzo could only manage a muted glare in response, caught between both fear and exasperation. He understood all too well that he couldn't match Sasuke's prowess, yet he felt trapped without an escape route.
In stark contrast to the fierce banter from the Fourth Raikage's side, Konoha was enveloped in a more harmonious atmosphere. Hashirama stepped forward, placing a comforting hand on Sarutobi's shoulder. "You did well, Sarutobi," he encouraged.
Naruto, with a bright smile, chimed in, "Exactly! The Will of Fire you left behind isn't just ours; we all carry it with us!"
However, Onoki interjected with a skeptical frown. "Will of Fire? Sounds more like brainwashing to me." He rolled his eyes, brushing off the sentiment.
Madara crossed his arms, a smirk dancing on his lips. "You speak as if your so-called Will of Stone is any different. Remind me, who took down the Tsuchikage you admired?"
Onoki's anger flared. "You bastard, Madara!"
Tobirama, seldom one to align with Madara, swiftly countered, "What's the issue? Do you want to fight? Madara is from Konoha, after all. If you're challenging him, then you're challenging us." His tone was firm, advocating for unity against outside threats.
The mere mention of Madara sent shivers down Onoki's spine. Facing Uchiha Madara alone was daunting enough; with Tobirama backing him, he wondered if he'd be pinned flat against the ground.
[Some say Sarutobi was the most spineless Hokage for allowing Danzo's manipulation, which led to the tragic fall of the Uchiha clan; others argue he was Konoha's greatest leader, navigating through decades of peace under his watch.]
[Regardless of public opinion, Sarutobi remains the indomitable torchbearer of the Will of Fire, an irreplaceable figure in Konoha's chronicles.]
[As the master of all chakra elements and a recognized professor of ninjutsu, the legacy of the Third Hokage, Sarutobi Hiruzen, is undeniable.]
However, when Madara heard about the destruction of the Uchiha clan, his reaction was immediate and fierce. "What? The Uchiha clan was annihilated? Tell me what happened!" His fury threatened to erupt as the very thought triggered a near-activation of his Susanoo.
Although no longer the Uchiha patriarch, Madara felt a compelling connection to his clan that was hard to ignore, enraged at the thought of their demise.
Tobirama's brow furrowed with concern. "Sarutobi, Danzo, enlighten us. I specifically assigned the Uchiha as our Konoha Military Police Force —what went wrong?"
Danzo hastily step forward, eager to clarify. "It's simple! The Uchiha clan plotted a rebellion, leaving us with no choice." He glanced at Sarutobi as though seeking validation.
With a heavy sigh, Sarutobi knew he had to lay out the grim truth. "To be frank, shortly after your passing, the Ninja World plunged into chaos once more. Many, including our Sarutobi clan and young hopefuls in Konoha, lost their lives on the battlefield."
"Even though we won, our strength significantly waned." He hesitated before continuing, "Then, the Nine-Tails—sealed for over a decade—unexpectedly attacked, leaving Konoha devastated once again. While the culprit behind the Nine-Tails' rampage remains unknown, we suspect Uchiha involvement."
"Following that incident, the Uchiha became increasingly wary of their other clansmen. As discontent built over time, it eventually reached a boiling point when I received intel about a planned uprising from the Uchiha."
"I had intended to appoint Uchiha Shisui to quell the unrest, given his mind-altering Sharingan techniques. But, right after I made the decision, I learned that Shisui had gone missing."
With that revelation, Sarutobi's expression darkened. His heart ached for Shisui, a loyal shinobi who could have altered the tragic course of events. Yet, this question haunted him: Why had Shisui disappeared precisely when he was needed most?
Danzo coldly scoffed, "It's no surprise that the villainous Uchiha met their end." His voice dripped with disdain.
Yet to everyone's shock, Tobirama, often hostile towards the Uchiha, fixed Danzo with a steely gaze. "Evil or not, the Uchiha were still part of Konoha." His stance was surprisingly supportive of their legacy.
Hashirama added with authority, "No matter what, a village shouldn't turn in on itself." His tone was firm, siding with unity over conflict.
Stepping forward, Itachi sought to clarify the misunderstanding. "Shisui's disappearance was due to Danzo's machinations. Had I not arrived in time to assist him, Shisui would have surely perished." His words were weighed with determination.
Danzo, unable to counter, cried out, "I acted only in Konoha's best interest!" His voice was defensive but tenuous.
Sasuke burst forth with outrage. "For Konoha's sake, you sold its secrets! For Konoha's sake, you nearly caused the Fifth Hokage's death! Is this your definition of protecting the village?"
"You even experimented on the Uchiha! Your secret research on Hashirama's cells led to horrific outcomes, resulting in the deaths of many innocent people. When we raided the Root Organization's base, we encountered abominations born from your failures—a nightmare we've cleaned up." Naruto's voice held unwavering strength, fueled by memories of their struggles.
Realizing he had no ground to stand on, Danzo's retorts faltered, and silence filled the space. He understood he couldn't lie at this moment.
Even Tobirama's eyes turned cold, simmering with disdain. "Danzo, your so-called actions for 'Konoha' are twisted." He was livid.
Madara, supremely irritated, directed his comments at Danzo. "You'll pay for this, and it sounds like the Sharingan you mentioned might have originated from here. Let's settle it with a duel." His words echoed with a sinister edge.
Finally, unable to restrain himself, Madara bellowed, "Hey! System, when will the duel arena open?"
[Ding! The duel arena is now open.]
[The arena features two modes: deathmatch mode and normal mode. In normal mode, no one dies; in deathmatch mode, the loser faces finality. The victor will receive rewards, while the loser receives nothing.]
With a mocking laugh, Madara smirked, turning to Danzo with a challenge. "Let's have a chat. System, initiate deathmatch mode!"
Sasuke stepped in front of him, refusing to yield. "No, let me handle this." His tone was unyielding.
Infuriated, Madara's Susanoo formed beside him, its ominous frame towering. "Who do you think you are? What gives you the right to dictate my actions?"
Sasuke stood his ground, his own Susanoo appearing at his side. "You old ghost, stay out of it!"
The tension crackled like lightning as Madara scoffed, "Looks like today's youths lack respect." His voice dripped with disdain.
With a venomous grin, Sasuke retorted, "Respect has to be earned, not demanded." The air was electric with hostility as both Uchiha elevated their chakra, transforming their Susanoo into colossal forms, each looming over the other.
Onoki gazed at the enormous figures, astonished. "Is this Uchiha Madara?!"
Tsunade observed in awe, "Did Grandpa really fight someone at this level?"
Mei Terumi lifted her brow, taken aback. "Are they really ninjas?"
Boom! Just as both sides were ready to clash, a massive wooden dragon and several golden chakra claws descended upon them, overpowering the two Susanoos.
"Don't stop me, Hashirama! This brat needs a real lesson!" Madara shouted, fiery determination lighting his eyes.
"Naruto, let me teach him a lesson he won't forget!" Sasuke added, animated with fury.
[Ding! Warning to Uchiha Madara and Uchiha Sasuke! Engaging in fights outside the duel arena is prohibited. Further violations will result in expulsion.]
Once the warning sounded, both competitors reluctantly lowered their Susanoos, some measure of calm returning to the scene. The people around finally exhaled, relief washing over them as the imminent threat abated.
As the individual both Uchiha aimed to challenge, Danzo stood shivering in the cold wind. His mind raced—he once believed that with the Sharingan arm, he could confront Madara, but facing the living embodiment of the Uchiha's legacy rendered that thought a distant fantasy.
