Chapter 5: #5 Eduring Humiliation
As the line moved forward, Karin gritted her teeth and bore the bites, one after another. Each time someone latched onto her, she forced herself to remain calm, her mind working even as her body weakened.
She started asking questions in between bites, keeping her tone soft and non-threatening. "What… what does chakra feel like to you?" she asked an Elderly Man who was biting her arm.
The Man paused after biting her. "Why do you care?" he asked suspiciously.
Karin quickly lowered her gaze, feigning meekness. "I… I just want to understand," she said quietly. "If I learn more about Chakra…If I can help better… maybe the bites won't hurt me as much."
The man looked at her with mild sympathy and shrugged. "Chakra's everything. You don't just feel it Child, you can't fight without it , you don't live without it. Doesn't matter how strong you are—without chakra, you're Dead."
Another piece of information. Chakra was essential to survival in this world, not just for fighting but for everyday life. Karin stored the thought away as the line moved forward, person after person draining her reserves.
By the time the last person left, Karin could barely stand. Her legs wobbled, and her vision blurred at the edges. She collapsed back onto the mattress, gasping for breath. Her body felt completely empty, the last Bite Marks had not even started to heal, she felt as if they had taken everything she had to give.
Her thoughts spiraled back to her past life. As the Celestial Blood Demon, she had endured countless battles, schemes, betrayals, and tortures. This new body, this strange world, these vile captors would not be her end. She had clawed her way up from nothing before, and she would do it again.
Gritting her teeth, Karin slowly dragged herself into a meditative position. Her body screamed in protest, her head spinning from exhaustion, but she pushed through the pain. She closed her eyes, forcing herself to focus inward.
She began with slow, shallow breaths, trying to sense the faint remnants of chakra within her body. It was weak, barely a flicker, but it was there. Like a guttering flame, it threatened to vanish with every beat of her heart.
Karin concentrated on the tiny spark, imagining it growing, flowing through her meridians as she had done with qi countless times before.
To her surprise, her chakra flowed far easier than it had the day before. Yesterday, it had been sluggish, like trying to push honey through a narrow tube. Today, it moved with an almost natural ease, like water rushing down a mountainside. It wasn't perfect, there were still blockages, and the flow wasn't as smooth as it could be—but it was progress.
As she worked, Karin recalled the importance of control over sheer quantity. In her past life, she had observed countless martial artists who sought to amass enormous reserves of qi suffer from devastating Qi Deviations because of it.
With that thought in mind, Karin adjusted her approach. Instead of forcing the chakra to move faster, she focused on guiding it with precision, keeping the flow steady and efficient. She visualized each blockage as a boulder in a stream, gently maneuvering the energy around the obstacles rather than attempting to break through them.
Hours passed, her focus unwavering. Sweat beaded on her brow, and her body grew weaker, but the flicker of chakra within her burned just a little brighter. By the time she opened her eyes, the dim light of the room had shifted. The sun was setting, casting long, eerie shadows across the walls.
Her body felt heavy and sore. Still, she smiled, if chakra was easier to work with in smaller amounts, then her depleted reserves might actually be an advantage. She would build her control first, ensuring that every ounce of energy was used to its fullest potential.
After her Meditation Session Karin laid back down to her Bed completely exhausted and quickly fell asleep.
The next day dawned cold and grim, and Karin was once again thrown into the grueling routine of being bitten and drained by the desperate, ragged group. She endured it silently, though every bite sent sharp stabs of pain through her body. She forced herself to observe her own chakra as it was drained, taking note of how it ebbed and flowed. Each person's bite was slightly different, some took more, others less. The process wasn't chaotic, but it wasn't entirely orderly either.
By the time the last person left, Karin's body again felt like a hollow shell. She collapsed onto the mattress, her limbs trembling and her breath shallow. But even in her weakened state, she focused inward, her mind sharp.
The repeated draining, while agonizing, was teaching her something vital: a basic understanding of the intricate flow of chakra. She had always been a quick learner, and this was no exception. Each draining session gave her more insight into how her chakra functioned, how it regenerated, and how it could be manipulated.
