Chapter 61: Chapter 61
Hanabi heard Naruto's words but chose to ignore them, pursing her lips stubbornly.
Tsunade, irritated by the situation, muttered something under her breath before resuming their escape.
Naruto, Kakashi, and the others pushed forward, ignoring their dwindling chakra reserves.
Not long after, Inuzuka Jaw and his wolf, Wolf Fang, arrived at the area where Naruto's group had paused.
"They stopped here for a while," Inuzuka Jaw observed, glancing at Hiashi Hyuga, who was beside him.
"They must have run out of chakra and needed to rest," Hiashi said, his eyes narrowing as he scanned the distance.
With a soft step, Hiashi leapt forward, his Byakugan activating. The veins near his temples bulged, a testament to the chakra flowing into his eyes. As he pushed more chakra into them, his sight pierced through obstacles, giving him a clear view of Naruto's fleeing group.
"Uzumaki Naruto… Tsunade… Might Guy… Kakashi?!" Hiashi's teeth clenched. "Kakashi has betrayed Konoha?"
The realization hit him hard. The sight of his youngest daughter, Hanabi, among their captives only fueled his anger.
Hiashi had long harbored resentment toward Shin-Konoha, primarily because of their ability to lift the Caged Bird seal. This development had caused unrest within the Hyuga clan, as many branch family members sought to defect to Shin-Konoha for freedom. Hiashi had been forced to seal off the clan to prevent mass desertion.
Now, with Hanabi in Naruto's hands, the situation felt like a direct challenge.
"Ichiraku Teuchi and Ayame are with them as well? And Iruka… Mitarashi Anko… What's the connection between these people?" Hiashi muttered to himself. The randomness of the group only deepened his confusion.
Naruto, feeling uneasy as they ran, glanced around nervously.
"Something's not right… I feel like we're being watched," he muttered.
"You're just tense," Might Guy said, trying to reassure him.
"No," Kakashi interjected, his voice firm. "It's the Byakugan. The Hyuga clan is close."
Everyone froze for a moment, the weight of Kakashi's words sinking in. The Byakugan's unparalleled range meant they were running out of time.
Their pace quickened, but the burdens they carried—Hanabi, Teuchi, Ayame, Iruka, and Anko—slowed them down.
"We can't keep running forever," Naruto said, gripping a talisman in his hand. It was his last resort, a means to summon his grandfather, Uzumaki Chito, if things went south. But Naruto wanted to avoid relying on it unless absolutely necessary.
Despite their efforts, Hiashi and his group quickly closed the gap.
"Uzumaki Naruto, stop running! You can't escape!" Hiashi's voice rang out, sharp and commanding.
Naruto slowed to a stop, instinctively shielding Hanabi as he turned to face the Hyuga patriarch.
Hiashi scanned the group, his gaze softening slightly when he saw that Hanabi was unharmed.
"Hanabi is here. Take her and leave," Naruto said, his tone calm but firm.
Hanabi, however, shouted in protest. "I don't want to go back! !"
Naruto stared at her, dumbfounded.
Her outburst caught Inuzuka Jaw off guard, and he let out a chuckle before quickly apologizing to Hiashi. "Sorry, I couldn't help myself."
The Hyuga clan members behind Hiashi averted their gazes, some hiding smiles. Hanabi's fiery personality was well-known.
"Hanabi, return to me at once," Hiashi said, his voice strained as he fought to maintain his composure. She's my daughter… my own daughter… he reminded himself repeatedly.
"I don't want to!" Hanabi declared, shaking her head. "I'm going to find Brother Neji, and I want to meet Uzumaki Chito. It's all his fault I can't play freely anymore!"
Hiashi's patience frayed further.
Naruto, watching the exchange, asked coolly, "What's it going to be, Hiashi? Will you take her and leave, or do we settle this another way?"
Behind Naruto, four tails of the Nine-Tails began to manifest. The fourth tail flickered, unstable, as Naruto prepared for either combat or flight.
Hiashi sighed heavily, glancing at Inuzuka Jaw for his input.
"Miss Hanabi's safety should come first," Inuzuka said after a moment's thought.
Hiashi exhaled deeply. He knew where Inuzuka's loyalty lay—he had once been in the same team as Minato Namikaze, Naruto's father. That bond wasn't something Hiashi could ignore.
But as the Hyuga patriarch, Hiashi couldn't afford to be so lenient. His clan's reputation and Konoha's authority were at stake.
"The Hyuga clan cannot ignore Konoha's traitors," Hiashi said grimly.
Naruto, sensing the tension, shook his head. "So, that's how it's going to be?"
Hiashi's expression hardened.
"Negotiations have failed," Naruto said, his voice calm but resolute. "Let's fight!"
