Chapter 1: CHAPTER 1
2008, Los Angeles.
Evening.
A Batman movie set.
"Click!"
With the director's call, the day's filming finally came to an end.
A woman in a tight catsuit and blindfold hurriedly left the set.
It was Annie—the actress playing Catwoman!
Stepping outside, she looked around, as if searching for something. When her gaze landed on a business car parked by the roadside, her eyes lit up.
She quickly got in.
Inside, her eyes immediately fell on the young, handsome man seated in the back. Her tone carried a hint of playfulness as she pouted.
"Dear, you haven't visited me in so long!"
"Annie, you know how hard it is to keep the company running smoothly," the man replied with a sigh.
As he spoke, he handed her a bouquet of flowers.
The moment Annie took the flowers, any trace of resentment vanished. A sweet smile bloomed on her face as she snuggled into his arms.
"Thank you! I love them!"
Kaelin Darkhaven wrapped an arm around her slender waist.
The car's front and back were separated by a soundproof partition, ensuring the driver couldn't see or hear them.
Kaelin pressed a button, and the car slowly started moving.
"Oh, wait a minute! I haven't changed yet!" Annie suddenly exclaimed.
In her excitement to see Kaelin, she had rushed straight to the car after filming, still dressed in her Catwoman costume.
"No need," Kaelin said with a smirk. "I want Catwoman."
…
[System detected. Binding in progress.]
A sudden mechanical voice echoed in Kaelin's mind.
"Damn it!"
His eyes snapped open in shock.
Annie looked up at him, puzzled.
"Sorry, continue," he quickly reassured her, masking his surprise.
But deep inside, he was overwhelmed.
After waiting for twenty years, his golden finger had finally arrived!
That's right—Kaelin had transmigrated.
Or more precisely, reincarnated.
Born into a Chinese family in New York, he had assumed he was simply reborn in the 1990s—until he saw Stark Industries on TV. That was when he realized… he was in the Marvel Universe.
A world where villains appeared endlessly, constantly threatening humanity's survival.
And these villains only got stronger over time.
Not to mention Thanos—the ultimate population control advocate—who wanted to wipe out half of all life in the universe. Or the Celestials, slumbering beneath the Earth, waiting to awaken.
Even on Earth alone, threats were everywhere.
Take Magneto, for example.
This world wasn't just home to superheroes; it also had mutants. There was Professor X's Mutant Academy and Magneto's Brotherhood, each wielding immense power.
The only silver lining?
From years of observation, Kaelin determined this was the movie universe—not the comic universe. Compared to the comics, the movies were much safer.
His parents had owned a mid-sized film and television company.
But five years ago, they died in a car accident.
After taking over the family business, Kaelin used his knowledge from his past life to create a series of blockbuster films, earning massive profits. He reinvested those earnings, and today, he was already one of the wealthiest individuals in America.
Suppressing his excitement, he focused on the system's interface in his mind.
After a few minutes of exploration, he understood its function.
The system was bound—but not activated.
To activate it, he needed to get married as soon as possible.
And the stronger his spouse's potential or power, the better his newbie reward.
"Marry a powerful woman?"
Names from the Marvel Universe instantly flashed through Kaelin's mind.
There were many strong women in this world…
But only a select few stood at the top.
In the end, only four names remained in his mind:
Ancient One, Phoenix, Scarlet Witch, and Captain Marvel!
These four were undoubtedly the strongest individuals on Earth.
Since the rewards fluctuated, Kaelin naturally aimed for the highest-level rewards.
The first choice was the Ancient One.
As the Supreme Sorcerer, her strength was unquestionable.
If she hadn't died, Thanos would never have had the chance to snap his fingers.
Break his fingers!
Unfortunately, aside from her age, Kaelin couldn't accept this option.
Even if he could, she would have to agree to it. If he dared to propose such a thing in front of the Ancient One, even with her renowned self-restraint, she might not be able to resist eliminating him on the spot.
This option was immediately ruled out!
Next was Phoenix.
According to the original timeline, she should have died at Wolverine's hands by now.
However, this was a fusion world—Kaelin couldn't be certain!
Even if she were alive, she was not an option.
After all, she had no control over the immense energy within her.
Staying by her side would be like holding a ticking time bomb.
Who knew when she might lose control and obliterate him?
Instantly reduced to dust.
Pass!
That left Wanda and Captain Marvel.
Captain Marvel was currently somewhere in the universe, playing Superman.
Pass!
In the end, only Wanda remained.
The Scarlet Witch, with her fully awakened chaos magic, was undoubtedly one of the most powerful beings in the Marvel universe.
Even before she became the Scarlet Witch, she had nearly torn Thanos apart with her bare hands.
Had she unlocked her true power before his arrival, Thanos would have been nothing more than a gem deliveryman—defeated in an instant.
At this point in time, Pietro and Wanda were still ordinary people, living in the small country of Sokovia in Western Europe.
It would be easy to control her with "money and power."
Undoubtedly, she was the best choice.
Having made his decision, Kaelin exhaled deeply.
He picked up the phone beside him, found a number, and dialed.
"Boss!"
A sweet voice came through the receiver.
"Avril, have Soran and the others gather at the base tomorrow morning."
"Understood, boss!" Avril responded before continuing.
"Boss, in America, all assets—except for the film and television companies and Stark Group stocks—have been sold off."
"As for the company you wanted to acquire in China, I've sent information on some major corporations to your inbox. You can review it when you have time."
"Got it," Kaelin nodded and hung up.
In the Marvel world, living in America without special abilities was a foolish choice.
After all, nearly every major catastrophe occurred here—especially in New York, the epicenter of cosmic disasters.
Kaelin had wanted to leave long ago.
Unfortunately, his parents had insisted on staying.
He couldn't exactly tell them that an alien invasion was coming in a few years.
If he did, their first thought wouldn't be whether to leave but rather how to find him a reliable mental hospital.
And he couldn't abandon them.
However, after his parents passed away, Kaelin used the following years of stability to amass wealth.
Now, with Tony Stark becoming Iron Man and the Marvel Universe's major events officially unfolding, he had finally put his plan into motion—leaving America.
The safest place in the world? China.
Other than Thanos' snap—an unavoidable event—hiding in China was the best option.
After hanging up, Kaelin tossed the phone aside and fell into deep thought.
Now that his system had activated, he needed to restructure his plans.
For over 20 minutes, he remained deep in thought—until he felt a sudden numbness in his lower back.
"Hiss!!"
