Chapter 156: Kill The Anomaly

"Senior Brother," said a young woman from the Heavenly Sword Sect, her voice soft but confident as she addressed a disciple beside her. "It seems no one is coming. They must be afraid of Senior Brother Hou and know they can't beat him."

Her gaze shifted to Hou Mengyao, who heard her words and responded with a proud tilt of his chin, flashing his perfect white teeth in a smug smile.

The disciple she spoke to nodded in agreement. "Of course. Who in the Young Generation could stand against Senior Brother Hou? This competition is as good as ours!"

As the disciples from the Heavenly Sword Sect conversed, a heavy fog began to rise from the forest, creeping upward.

At first, the fog hugged the forest floor, creating an eerie atmosphere. But then, without warning, a strong wind surged, driving the dense mist toward the cliff where they stood at an unnatural speed.

"What's going on? What is this fog?" One of the disciples asked, his voice tinged with unease.

The mist thickened quickly, shrouding everything in a white veil. Within moments, their vision was completely obscured. They couldn't see more than a few centimeters ahead.

Even more unsettling, as soon as the fog engulfed the cliff, the wind abruptly stopped, leaving an unnatural stillness.

"This fog isn't natural," Hou Mengyao declared, his voice sharp with disdain. "It seems someone's finally bold enough to make a move against me."

Inside his mind, he commanded, 'System, activate infrared vision.'

The infrared vision was a reward Hou Mengyao had earned from completing a past mission from the system, and it was perfect for situations like this.

'Do they really think they can beat me with such childish tricks? Pathetic.'

With his infrared vision activated, Hou Mengyao could clearly see eight figures moving through the fog. Seven of them were human, and the last was a large wolf.

Six of the humans wore strange glasses, likely some sort of artifact to counter the fog.

Hou Mengyao smirked at the sight. 'Oh, so they came prepared. Some kind of artifact to see through the mist, I assume. Clever, but not clever enough.'

Those cheap artifacts had been purchased by Tan Wei and Feng Fan. After the incident in Cloudveil City, they made it a habit to always keep a few stored in their space rings, ready for use whenever the need arose.

A blazing cauldron shot toward the Heavenly Sword Sect disciples, accompanied by two crackling lightning bolts that illuminated the dense fog.

"Enemy attack! Be careful!" shouted one of the disciples in alarm.

The Heavenly Sword Sect disciples scrambled to respond, but the suddenness of the assault and their impaired vision left them completely unprepared.

They couldn't even pinpoint where the attacks were coming from!

The fiery cauldron and lightning bolts struck their targets with devastating precision. Five disciples were hit directly, rendering them unable to continue the fight.

While chaos broke out among the weaker disciples, Gong Long, Cao Zhu, and Tan Wei seized the opportunity, pressing their advantage to keep the remaining weaker disciples busy.

Meanwhile, Huang Xue, Qian Xiaoli, Feng Fan, and Xue Qiang ignored the weaker fighters entirely, their focus locked on the strongest threat—Hou Mengyao. Weapons raised and determination in their eyes, they charged straight at him.

Heavenly Dragon Thrust!

Freezing Moon!

Phoenix Descent!

Family Jewel Destroyer Kick!

All of them didn't hold back, they directly threw their strongest attack toward Hou Mengyao.

Hou Mengyao sneered, his expression filled with disdain. "Petty tricks!"

A surge of sword qi erupted from his body, enveloping him in a menacing aura. With a single, fluid motion, he unsheathed his sword. In one horizontal slash, a massive wave of sword energy tore through the air, cutting a path straight toward his enemies.

Huang Xue's dragon, Xue Qiang's phoenix, Qian Xiaoli's moon, and Feng Fan's… hairy leg—every single one of their attacks was shattered by Hou Mengyao's overwhelming slash!

Shallow cuts appeared on their bodies and tore through their clothes as they were sent flying by the impact. Among them, Feng Fan, who was closer to Hou Mengyao, took the brunt of the blow.

But thanks to his strong physique, he managed to recover faster than expected.

Clenching his teeth, he circulated his cultivation technique, quickly stopping the bleeding from his wounds.

"This... How could he see us?" Feng Fan muttered, disbelief clear in his voice.

His plan had fallen apart, and worse, Hou Mengyao's strength far exceeded his expectations.

'Even if this guy is at the 7th Golden Core Formation realm, his cultivation technique shouldn't be this powerful. How is he overwhelming us so easily?' Feng Fan thought, his mind racing for answers.

Unknowingly, Feng Fan's assumption was correct.

Hou Mengyao's cultivation technique was only a Top Heavenly-level technique. On its own, that wouldn't have been enough to give him such an advantage. In fact, either Huang Xue or Xue Qiang could have taken him on solo under normal circumstances.

The real problem, however, was Hou Mengyao's sword intent.

Thanks to the system within him, Hou Mengyao had elevated his sword intent to an absolutely terrifying level. This gave him a cutting edge that none of them could match.

Worse still, none of Feng Fan's group had cultivated weapon intent. Even Qian Xiaoli, who had been cultivating for the longest time, had yet to achieve it.

This put them at an overwhelming disadvantage.

Hou Mengyao stood tall, gazing at the battered group with a condescending smirk. "You have eyes, but you failed to recognize Mount Tai!" He declared, his tone dripping with arrogance.

Hearing those words, Feng Fan's jaw dropped, and his eyebrows shot up in disbelief. 'What kind of over-the-top, cheesy villain line was that?' He thought, equal parts surprised and annoyed.

Hou Mengyao observed their expressions with a smug smile, expecting to see fear and awe reflected in their eyes. But when his gaze landed on Feng Fan—still calmly circulating his cultivation technique to heal his wounds—a sudden message flared in his mind.
