My System is Too Overpowered

Chapter 6: Subordinate (1)

Ma Jeong finally shifted his gaze toward the Shadow Ghost Squad Leader.

With just a glance, he could tell—the man stood at the Late-Stage Fusion Realm, a minor realm above him. The Squad Leader wasn't bothering to conceal his cultivation, making it easy to sense his strength.

But he wasn't alone.

Aside from him, five more cultivators had reached the Fusion Realm. The rest were at the Refinement and Spirit Realms—a force far too powerful to belong in the Blue Wind Domain.

Ma Jeong's eyes gleamed with understanding.

'So, these people are responsible for her downfall… and now they're here to finish the job.'

It wasn't hard to piece things together. These assassins weren't from the Blue Wind Domain—they were from the Central Domain.

A thought crossed Ma Jeong's mind.

'I wonder… how do my divine techniques compare to the ones used by the so-called elite cultivators of the Central Domain?'

At that moment, a mechanical voice rang in his mind.

[Ding! Host, do not compare the divine techniques granted by the system to such trash. The techniques provided by the system belong to the highest tier—even superior to the Supreme Divine Techniques.]

Ma Jeong blinked.

'Oh? Is that so? My bad.'

Sensing his system's irritation, he quickly apologized. The last thing he wanted was an angry system withholding rewards!

While Ma Jeong was conversing with his system, the Shadow Ghost Squad Leader's face darkened.

This nobody—this mere cultivator from a backward domain—dared to ignore him?

Unforgivable!

"How dare a lowly cultivator like you ignore me, the Leader of the Shadow Ghost Squad of the Demonic Cult!"

As if trying to justify his importance, the man launched into a long-winded monologue, rambling on about his status, power, and fearsome reputation—like a typical third-rate villain.

But Ma Jeong barely paid him any attention.

By the time the man finished his speech, he had already activated his divine technique.

"Yin Ghost Claws!"

A ghostly aura exploded around the Squad Leader as dark, spectral claws shot forward, aiming to tear Ma Jeong apart!

Just then, a mechanical voice echoed in Ma Jeong's mind.

[Ding! A Late-stage Fusion Realm enemy has been detected. Activating ability: 'Stronger Against Strong.' Host has gained Peak-Stage Fusion Realm cultivation.]

BOOM!

In the next instant, a terrifying aura erupted from Ma Jeong.

His cultivation surged—Peak-Stage Fusion Realm!

With a casual flick of his hand, the Yin Ghost Claws were instantly dispelled, vanishing into thin air like mist before the morning sun.

The Shadow Ghost Squad Leader's eyes widened in pure disbelief.

"W-What?!"

A chill ran down his spine.

The oppressive Peak-Stage Fusion Realm aura rolling off Ma Jeong was undeniable.

"Y-You were hiding your cultivation?!" he stammered, his confidence crumbling.

But Ma Jeong didn't even bother answering.

Instead, his gaze shifted—toward Wi Soyeon.

As Ma Jeong's gaze fell upon Wi Soyeon, he couldn't help but admire her.

Even in her current state—weakened, disheveled, and drained—she possessed a beauty that could make the moon itself pale in comparison.

The first moment he had laid eyes on her, his breath had hitched.

Now, looking at her up close, that same feeling resurfaced.

After a brief pause, his voice rang out—calm, yet commanding.

"I see great potential in you; you're a rare talent. From today on, I will take you as my subordinate. How about that?"

His words weren't loud, but they carried a weight of absolute authority—like a divine decree that could not be questioned.

To Wi Soyeon, it was like a thunderclap in her ears.

"What?!"

Her heart pounded as she lifted her head, her stunned gaze meeting the black-haired young man's serious, unwavering expression.

Her mind raced.

He… wants to take me as his subordinate?

Even though Wi Soyeon's cultivation had fallen, she was once a Transcendent Realm cultivator—a force to be reckoned with.

How could she accept becoming a mere Fusion Realm cultivator's subordinate?

The very thought made her blood boil.

Her pride screamed at her to refuse him outright, but when she thought about her situation, the words wouldn't come out.

If she wanted to survive—if she wanted to reclaim her strength and take revenge—then she had no choice but to submit.

She clenched her fists before slowly kneeling on one leg, lowering her head.

"Subordinate Wi Soyeon pays her respects to Master. It is an honor to serve you."

Her voice was steady, but deep in her heart, she was seething.

Humiliation. Rage. Unwillingness.

She, the successor of the mighty Demonic Cult, a once-proud Transcendent, had now been reduced to a mere subordinate of a Fusion Realm cultivator.

If she could accept this without hesitation, that would be even stranger.

Ma Jeong, watching her closely, could tell exactly what she was feeling.

Thanks to the Shadow Ghost Squad Leader's little monologue, he had already pieced together what had happened.

'Must have been a rebellion,' he thought, a playful smirk tugging at his lips.

No matter—what he wanted, he had already obtained.

[Ding! Congratulations to the host for completing the subordinate-taking task. Rewards: Void Movement Technique and Indestructible Saint Body Art.]

A flood of powerful knowledge surged into Ma Jeong's mind.

Void Movement Technique—an ability that allowed him to teleport anywhere in the world in an instant.

Indestructible Saint Body Art—a divine body cultivation technique that granted him unmatched physical strength and an unbreakable body.

As the comprehension of these divine techniques poured into him, his aura suddenly exploded outward, sending shockwaves rippling through the air.

A storm of energy swirled violently around him, and an overwhelming pressure filled the surroundings.

The Shadow Ghost Squad Leader and his men instinctively stepped back, faces twisting in shock.

Ma Jeong slowly exhaled, feeling the immense power surging within him.

Then, finally, he turned his gaze toward the Shadow Ghost Squad Leader and his squad—his eyes calm, yet filled with an undeniable sense of dominance.

Ma Jeong stood with his hands clasped behind his back, his expression indifferent.

"Since I'm in a good mood, I'll give you insects a chance to scram." His voice was calm, yet it carried an undeniable authority.

The Shadow Ghost Squad Leader's face twisted in rage. He knew he wasn't a match for this man—just that brief surge of aura had told him enough.

But he couldn't accept this humiliation.

He was a prideful man, a figure feared across the Central Domain. And now, he was being treated as nothing but empty air—as if he wasn't even worth acknowledging.

To make matters worse, envy boiled inside him.

The ability to command Wi Soyeon—the once proud goddess of the Demonic Cult—was something countless men in the Central Domain would die for.

Taking a deep breath, he forced himself to remain calm.

Judging by that young man's overwhelming aura, even if they managed to kill him, the price they would pay would be far too great.

After weighing his options, he finally spoke, his tone controlled yet sharp.

"It seems there's been a misunderstanding," he said, his cold gaze shifting toward Wi Soyeon. "That bitch over there is a traitor to the Demonic Cult. It would be in your best interest not to meddle in our affairs."

Wi Soyeon's eyes burned with rage as she snapped her head up.

"How dare you call me a traitor! It was you people who started the rebellion!" she shouted, her voice laced with fury.

The Shadow Ghost Squad Leader sneered.

"The rules of the Demonic Cult are clear," he said coldly. "Only the strong and the victors have the right to decide what is right and wrong. Someone as weak as you has no rights. Just accept the new Cult Leader's judgment."

"YOU—!" Wi Soyeon clenched her fists, ready to lash out, but before she could speak, Ma Jeong raised a hand, stopping her in her tracks.

A chilling silence filled the air.

"I must admit," Ma Jeong mused, his voice eerily calm, "in this world, strength is king."

Then, his red eyes gleamed with an ominous light.

"And since I am stronger than you..." His lips curled into a smirk. "If I kill you here, you will have no choice but to accept that judgment."

The Shadow Ghost Squad Leader's face twisted with fury. He could no longer hold back his rage.

"Shadow Ghost Squad! Form the Dark Shadow Assassin Formation!" he roared.

The Shadow Ghost Squad immediately moved into position, their bodies flickering like phantoms, forming a deadly killing array.

But before they could fully complete the formation—

Swoosh!

Ma Jeong vanished.

A split second later, he reappeared in front of one of the Fusion Realm cultivators.

Before the man could even react, Ma Jeong's hand pierced straight through his chest, emerging from the other side in a spray of blood.

A look of shock froze on the cultivator's face.

"Y-you…" He choked, his life fading in an instant.

Ma Jeong's expression remained unmoved.

The Fusion Realm cultivator's body dangled limply, impaled by Ma Jeong's hand, blood spilling to the ground in a dark crimson stream. His eyes, once filled with life, had already turned dull.

With an indifferent expression, Ma Jeong withdrew his hand.

Thud!

The lifeless body slumped toward the ground—

But before it could even touch the earth, Ma Jeong's figure blurred.

Swoosh!

He vanished, reappearing before another Fusion Realm cultivator.

The man barely had time to widen his eyes in shock before—

Slash!

A swift strike ended his life in an instant.

One after another, death descended like a silent storm.

Ma Jeong's movements were unstoppable, his Void Movement Technique turning him into a phantom. He was there one moment—gone the next—then reappearing only to reap another life.

The Shadow Ghost Squad had no chance to react.

In mere moments, the once-elite assassins of the Demonic Cult lay scattered, their bodies motionless, lifeless.

Silence.

Only the gentle rustling of the Azure Bamboo Forest remained.

The Shadow Ghost Squad Leader staggered backward, his entire body trembling. His once proud and arrogant expression was now twisted with sheer terror.

"W-what…" he stammered, his lips quivering, his face drained of all color.

This was beyond what he had ever imagined.

His entire squad, wiped out in mere seconds.

By just one man.
