My Life in Multiverse

Chapter 185: Ch 183 - A Path Chosen

The Magic Knights gathered around them, awe-struck by the scene unfolding before them, watching Acier's return with reverence. But amid their wonder, Alex slipped away, heading toward the shadowed halls.

However, before he could disappear, a hand reached out, stopping him. Acier stood before him, her eyes gleaming with gratitude. "Thank you, Alex,"

She said, her voice resolute yet laced with emotion. "You've given me back my family, something I thought lost forever."

He nodded, a faint, almost melancholic smile crossing his lips.

"They deserved it, and so did you," He replied.

"Make the most of this second chance."

Acier's gaze softened. "You've earned your place among us, Alex. There's a home for you here."

Alex's gaze lowered briefly, emotions flickering in his eyes. "No, everyone will forget about me!"

In that moment, he had made a decision. Reaching deep into his well of Chaos Magic, he cast a powerful spell, a hax that would cloak his presence from the minds of his friends and allies.

"Forget me," He whispered to the wind, the magic rippling outward, enveloping not only them but the entire world in a veil of oblivion. It would ensure everyone could celebrate their victory and live on without the burden of his impending absence.

With that, Alex stepped back into the shadows, determination hardening within him. He had a grueling mission to explore the depths of the Underworld and eradicate every last devil.

Alex descended further into the abyss, his heart pounding with the thrill of the hunt. The ground trembled beneath him as he approached the deepest circle of the Underworld, where the ancient and powerful devils resided.

Summoning his shadow army, Alex unleashed his final assault. His five thousand soldiers stormed forward, clashing with the devils in a battle that shook the very foundations of the Underworld. Energy clashed against energy, shadows against fire and blood until the entire field was painted in darkness and devastation.

One of these devils, adorned with crimson armor and a crown of horns, stepped forward, its voice a chilling whisper. "You are bold to come here, human. You think you can destroy us all?"

Alex stood firm, unflinching. "This is where it ends for you and your kind."

With that, he unleashed his full might. Anti-magic coursed through him, blending with Chaos and the power of his shadows. Each swing of his weapon cleaved through the darkness, scattering devils as if they were mere shadows.

The older devil roared, its form shifting and warping as it tried to draw power from the cursed throne behind it.

"You will pay for your insolence!" It bellowed.

But Alex was relentless, his focus unwavering.

"You won't have the chance," He replied coldly.

In the midst of the battle, a lesser devil found itself beneath Alex's gaze, fear clear in its eyes. It stammered, its voice cracking. "P-Please…I'll submit."

Alex's eyes narrowed, devoid of mercy. "Submission isn't enough. You all brought harm to those above. I want to eradicate your entire race completely."

In the final moments of their struggle, Alex pushed his limits, channeling all his energy into a devastating strike. The blow resonated with a thunderous crash, echoing through the depths of the Underworld as the devil crumbled into dust, leaving behind a silence that felt almost sacred.

Chaos and Anti-Magic ripped through the air as Alex's soldiers and the devils battled, the sound of clashing energies filling the void. Each strike brought another devil to its knees, their darkness absorbed by his Devour ability, leaving nothing but silence in their wake.

With every devil he felled, he grew stronger, his resolve hardening as he pushed further into the heart of the Underworld.

As he looked around, he surveyed the remnants of the battle—fallen devils scattered across the cavernous expanse. With each victory, he felt a fragment of the Underworld's darkness lifted, yet he knew this was just the beginning. His mission was far from over; it would take a decade of relentless work to scour the entire realm and devour every devil alive.

But as he ascended back towards the surface, a quiet resolve settled within him. The world above had reclaimed a moment of joy, and for now, that was enough. His journey into the depths of the Underworld had begun, and with it, a promise to himself, to the fallen, and to those he would fight for.

In the coming years, he would become the shadow that hunted in the dark, a solitary force against the remnants of evil, driven by a singular purpose: to eradicate the devils and ensure that no threat ever emerged from their cursed domain again.

On the side, on the surface...

Nacht brought Yuno to a hidden safe house.

Citizens and nobles alike had gathered, their eyes filled with admiration and reverence as they looked upon their prince, Yuno Grinberryall.

Yuno was quite overwhelmed since he was very unfamiliar to all of it.

But amidst the celebration and joyful cries, one figure stood out: Ciel Grinberryall, the mother he had only dreamed of meeting.

Yuno stood in the grand hall, his heart pounding as he beheld her. Ciel's golden hair shimmered in the light, and her blue eyes sparkled with warmth.

She stepped forward, her voice breaking as she spoke his name. "Yuno."

Yuno's usually calm demeanor faltered. His throat tightened, and he clenched his fists, trying to steady himself. He had faced countless battles, but nothing had prepared him for this.

"Mother," He whispered, the word foreign yet deeply familiar.

Ciel closed the distance between them, tears streaming down her face. She wrapped her arms around him, and Yuno, who had always kept his emotions in check, felt his resolve crack.

Slowly, he lifted his arms and embraced her, holding onto the warmth he had never known but had always yearned for.

"I thought I'd lost you forever," Ciel sobbed, pulling back just enough to cup his face with trembling hands. "You've grown so strong, so brave."

Yuno's vision blurred, but he managed to smile. "I did it to protect everyone."

The room was silent, every eye fixed on the reunion. It was a moment that symbolized the kingdom's revival, a prince returned to his rightful place.

Citizens murmured among themselves, hope to blossom in their hearts.

"Our prince has returned."

"He should be our king."

Ciel wiped her tears, her gaze resolute. "Yuno, the people of this kingdom wish for you to lead them. To take the throne as the King of the Spade Kingdom."

Her voice held both pride and a mother's love. "This is your birthright."

Yuno stepped back, his expression shifting from tender to determined. He took a deep breath, the weight of the kingdom's expectations heavy on his shoulders.

"I'm honored," He said, his voice steady. "But I can't accept the throne."

Gasps of disbelief echoed through the hall. Ciel's eyes widened, but she listened, sensing there was more.

"I made a promise," Yuno continued, his gaze unwavering. "I swore to become the next Magic Emperor of the Clover Kingdom. It's a vow I made not just to myself, but to my friends, my comrades... and to someone I can't quite remember."

For a moment, a pang of something familiar and aching twisted in his chest, but he couldn't name it.

A bond was lost, a name forgotten, yet the feeling remained.

"The Clover Kingdom is my home too," Yuno explained, his voice filled with conviction. "And I have to protect it. I have to be the one who stands at the top, leading and safeguarding both kingdoms in my own way."

Ciel's heart ached, but she saw the fire in his eyes, the same fire she once had.

"I see," She said softly, her voice filled with understanding.

"You truly are your father's son."

A tear slipped down Yuno's cheek, but he smiled. "Thank you, Mother."

The citizens, initially stunned, began to murmur again, this time with a different kind of admiration. Yuno was not just a prince but a protector, a beacon of hope for both lands. Even though his path lay elsewhere, they could feel the sincerity of his promise.

Ciel placed a gentle hand on his cheek. "No matter what path you choose, Yuno, know that I am proud of you."

Yuno nodded, his heart filled with a renewed sense of purpose. He had made his choice, and even though something within him felt incomplete—an echo of a forgotten friend—he knew he would carry on.

For the future of both kingdoms.
