Chapter 20: Chapter 21: Chaos in Konoha
Konoha, Hokage Building
With a loud boom, the main doors of the Hokage Office were kicked open.
Inside the conference room, the Konoha Elders were listening to Tsume Inuzuka's report when they saw Tsunade barge in. Their brows furrowed, and an ominous feeling settled in their hearts.
Before Hiruzen Sarutobi could speak, Koharu Utatane took the lead and sternly questioned:
"Tsunade, are you rebelling? This is the Hokage's office, you—"
Unfortunately for her, Tsunade was even more aggressive.
Her face filled with rage, she roared.
"Shut up, you old hag!"
!!!
Koharu was stunned. She was about to lash out in anger, but the murderous glare in Tsunade's eyes made her freeze in place.
"Don't force me to kill you!"
The chilling threat sent shockwaves through the room. Everyone in the office was taken aback.
Tsunade's eyes swept across the room before she fixated on Hiruzen, who sat quietly.
"Where is Danzo?"
Hearing this, Hiruzen immediately realized what was going on.
At that moment, an Anbu agent suddenly appeared beside him and whispered something in his ear, deepening the frown on his face. He let out a sigh before facing the raging granddaughter of the First Hokage.
"Tsunade, calm down. We need to investigate this matter thoroughly."
But Tsunade had no intention of backing down.
After all, this was her grandfather they were talking about. It was bad enough that he had passed away—but for Danzo to desecrate his corpse? Unforgivable.
"Investigate? Old man, stop with the nonsense. Bring Danzo out here. One look at his arm, and I'll know everything."
Hiruzen couldn't possibly comply with this demand. He could only stall for time.
"I will send someone to look for Danzo, but you need to calm down first. This is a scheme by Sunagakure."
"A scheme?"
Tsunade let out a cold, disdainful laugh.
"If I see Danzo myself, I'll know whether it's a scheme or not."
At this point, Tsunade turned to her teacher and the two elders, who didn't seem particularly surprised by her outburst. Then, a sudden realization struck her. Her pupils shrank, her face darkened, and she gritted her teeth as she faced her teacher.
"Sensei… Don't tell me you already knew? Or worse, did you approve of this? Did you allow them to desecrate my grandfather's body? Have you forgotten? You are a disciple of Grandpa Tobirama!"
Her words sent shockwaves through the room. Even Homura Mitokado couldn't hold back his anger and shouted.
"Tsunade, this is not a place for you to behave so recklessly!"
But Tsunade met his gaze without fear and roared back.
"Oh? What's the matter? Does Elder Homura want to kill me too? Of course, that would make sense. After all, I'm the last remaining descendant of the Senju Clan. I bet you'd love to get your hands on my corpse for research!"
Homura and Koharu's faces instantly turned ashen after hearing this.
Yet, they truly had no way to deal with Tsunade.
Not only was she the last heir of the Senju Clan, but she was also one of the legendary Sannin. Neither Jiraiya nor Orochimaru were people to be trifled with. Fortunately, Orochimaru had been sent to the battlefield against Kumogakure.
Seated at his desk, Hiruzen Sarutobi could only sigh helplessly.
"I admit it, Tsunade. The village did indeed conduct research on the First Hokage's body, but it was only to uncover the secrets of the Wood Release and to enhance the village's strength. Moreover, I ordered the research to be stopped five years ago. As for the intelligence from Sunagakure, I can only confirm its validity after Danzo arrives."
But just then, another Anbu appeared beside Hiruzen and whispered something in his ear. Hiruzen's expression changed slightly, and he looked toward Tsunade, unsure of how to proceed.
"What is it, old man? Is there something you can't tell me?"
Hiruzen, clearly distressed, sighed and opened his eyes.
"We just received word that both Kumogakure and Iwagakure have launched surprise attacks on the borders of the Land of Fire. A full-scale war has broken out, and Danzo... he's gone to the battlefield."
Tsunade's fury exploded in an instant.
Was Danzo not confessing by leaving at this time!?
There was no way this was just a coincidence.
"Old man, you're the Hokage. Shouldn't Danzo have informed you before leaving the village?"
Seeing Tsunade's rage, Hiruzen knew that Danzo had likely gone into hiding to avoid suspicion. As for whether Danzo had actually implanted the First Hokage's cells and the Sharingan, Hiruzen didn't have proof. But instinctively, he felt that it was true, as Danzo was precisely the type of person who would do something like that.
However, he couldn't say that aloud.
In Hiruzen's mind, Danzo's importance outweighed even the cells of the First Hokage or the Sharingan.
He could only try to reassure Tsunade.
"Tsunade, I will give you an explanation about this, but right now, the situation is critical. Once the situation at the borders stabilizes, I will personally investigate Danzo."
At that moment, Tsunade's gaze turned icy. Her expression was devoid of anger, replaced by a cold smile. Without saying another word, she turned and left the room, not even looking back at her once familiar teacher.
As Tsunade stormed out, Koharu Utatane turned to the Third Hokage and raised her concern.
"Tsunade is getting more and more out of control. Just like Orochimaru!"
Homura Mitokado also raised his voice in a cautionary tone.
"Tsunade is a minor issue. The Uchiha Clan is the real problem. If Tsunade knows about this, the Uchiha have likely already found out."
Koharu Utatane snorted dismissively.
"Don't worry. Fugaku is too weak. He won't dare to turn against the village. We just need to keep an eye on the hawks among the Uchiha."
"What about Sunagakure?"
Hiruzen thought for a moment before responding.
"If it comes to that, I'll have to step in personally."
Koharu and Homura both nodded in agreement, reassured by Hiruzen's decision.
As Koharu had said, Tsunade's departure seemed like an individual issue, but the real trouble loomed with the Uchiha Clan.
It wasn't until much later that Fugaku Uchiha, accompanied by his clan, arrived at the Hokage Building.
As expected, Fugaku was rather weak-willed. Even though the Uchiha were fervently protesting behind him, under the threats from Koharu and Homura, as well as the pressure from Hiruzen about the village's greater good, Fugaku chose to compromise. His clan's anger and disappointment were evident in their gazes.
Just then, the Anbu brought in some bad news for the three elders.
"Hokage-sama, Elder Homura, Elder Koharu, Tsunade-sama has left the village with her student, Shizune."
"How audacious!"
"Is Tsunade planning to betray the village?"
The two elders raised their complaints but Hiruzen remained calm and asked.
"Do we know where Tsunade has gone?"
The Anbu gulped before shaking his head.
"We're not sure, but it's clear she's not heading toward Iwagakure."
Hiruzen sighed in relief, but he also understood that Tsunade had likely lost all faith in the village. However, being in his position, many things were beyond his control. One such explaple is Orochimaru's rebellion.
Fortunately, Tsunade's hemophobia prevented her from going to the battlefield. Her departure would have minimal impact on the village.
"We'll keep this quiet for now."
"Understood!"
And so, as turmoil spread throughout the ninja world, in the dark of night, Rasa had already taken two Anbu operatives and crossed the Land of Fire, heading toward the Land of Bears.
Following the Anbu's guidance, Rasa soon found himself at the location of Hoshigakure in the Land of Bears.
"You'll wait here. Keep an eye and inform me if anything happens."
Looking at the poisonous gas-filled canyon before him, Rasa gave a cold, commanding gesture.
"Yes, Kazekage-sama!"
With a wave of his hand, gold sand gathered at his feet and lifted him over the green toxic gas canyon. A small village marked with a star symbol came into view, and Rasa immediately sensed that his target was close.
