Chapter 135 Departure (Part 1)
Capital City, The Sanctuary.
Within the grandiose hall.
Dead silence.
You could hear a pin drop.
All faces filled with suspicion.
Only Chen Yu, hands in his pockets, lay back in a rocking chair with his legs crossed and shaking, the epitome of nonchalance.
After a long while.
The Alliance's chief squinted his eyes, his tone eerie, "It seems, I might have not heard clearly. The condition that the 'evil being' leader gave for releasing you, was to have you kill all the Transcendents?"
"That's correct," Chen Yu nodded.
"Just by yourself? A mere B-level, not quite there yet, ability user?" Behind the crowd, a knight in steel armor sneered.
"Of course, raw individual strength cannot shake the entire Transcendent realm," said the young man in a duckbill cap, his expression growing serious, "They... must want you to stir up some trouble, right? Could it have something to do with the alliance of the fourteen clans?"
"The alliance of the fourteen clans?" Chen Yu pondered, scratching his ear, "The other side mentioned something about 'an alliance of myriad clans' to me."
"It's the same thing," the chief took a big step forward, staring straight at Chen Yu: "Tell me in detail about their plan. Now."
"It's quite simple. All the races in the world are governed by the 'Enforcement Center', right? The allied forces want to wage war on humanity and need the Chief Enforcer's 'War Authorization'. They want me to... blend in..."
It took five minutes.
Chen Yu raised his voice and spilled all the steps arranged by the "obese middle-aged man" without holding anything back.
Not a single detail was concealed.
Those present were chilled to the bone listening.
"My Lord," a Transcendent with an ugly expression spoke up first, "Did the Enforcement Center really ask you to include Chen Yu in the squad?"
"...Yes," the Alliance's chief nodded with a somber look, "This morning, the Enforcement Center's Union Department indeed issued me an order. It notified me to integrate a Transcendent with 'dual abilities' into the diplomatic squad, claiming that many 'people' within the enforcers are extremely interested in Chen Yu. I originally thought that they had decided on a whim after watching the arena fights. Little did I know... it was those damned 'evil beings' pulling strings behind the scenes."
"No wonder," the young man in the duckbill cap adjusted his cap brim, "The squad that was supposed to depart this morning was delayed by you. It turns out it was to wait for Chen Yu."
"That's right," the chief stared at Chen Yu, "That's why I found the timing of his appearance so convenient. Now everything makes sense."
"Chen Yu," the young man in the duckbill cap looked at Chen Yu too, "Did the evil being's leader specifically tell you how to 'make trouble'?"
"Not really," Chen Yu spread his hands, "It asked me to improvise and to play it by ear. So initially, I planned, when the squad met with the Chief Enforcer in full public view, to go up and provoke him. Guaranteed that the Chief Enforcer would rage on the spot and directly issue the 'War Authorization'."
The entire audience: "..."
The Alliance's chief subconsciously wiped away the cold sweat beading on his forehead.
"Alright," Chen Yu let out a deep breath and stood up from the rocking chair, "I've said all that needs to be said. Do you have any other questions?"
"Yes," the young man in the duckbill cap gradually took control of the situation, "Judging by your current attitude, you are firmly standing on the side of the Transcendent world."
"Isn't that stating the obvious?" Chen Yu laughed, "I am a Transcendent, so naturally, where I stand decides where my head's at."
"Then what about your parents, who are held hostage by the evil beings?"
"I don't know," Chen Yu's smile faded, and he spoke calmly, "Do you have any good ideas?"
The executives within the hall exchanged glances once more.
No one spoke.
"It's tough," the knight in steel armor clenched his fist, "Their lair seems to be hidden in a spatial crevice. Without the core coordinates of the real world, we couldn't find it."
"What are core coordinates?" Chen Yu asked.
"Take this Sanctuary, for example," the knight explained, "The core coordinate is in the archway of the square. It's a fixed 'entrance' that can't be moved. And individuals with Sanctuary access can open temporary portals within a certain range at will."
"Oh," Chen Yu suddenly understood, "When I was brought into 'Eden' from beneath the Sky-reaching Tower, that bearded man opened a temporary portal."
"Exactly," the knight nodded.
"In that case..." Chen Yu pulled out his phone from his pocket, looking at the full signal on the screen, a light flashing in his eyes, "I might know where the 'Eden' core coordinate is."
...
Half an hour later.
In a room of an annex to the left of the sanctuary's grand hall.
Chen Yu, the Alliance's chief, and the young man in the duckbill cap were seated opposite each other, holding a hushed conversation.
"Firstly, Chen Yu, I want to thank you on behalf of the entire Transcendent world and all of human civilization for your noble act," the chief said solemnly, passing a small cloth pouch to Chen Yu, "From this moment on, your past 'sins' are absolved by the Alliance. This bag of soul beads is your compensation for joining the 'diplomatic squad'."
"Thank you," Chen Yu said without a second word and immediately opened the pouch to check.
There were five beads inside.
"You're well aware of the crisis our human race is currently facing, so I won't beat around the bush," the chief said with a sharp look in his eyes, "Within ten days, you and all members of the squad must exert every effort to stop the 'War Authorization' from being issued. Whatever means necessary, no matter what the sacrifice. Once the case for war passes the Enforcement Center, and the allied forces of the fourteen clans swarm us, we will be unable to defend ourselves. That would be the end of mankind."
