Chapter 132: The End of Humanity (Part Four)
"Hi?"
"Hey! Snap out of it!"
The call from the plump middle-aged man brought Chen Yu back from his thoughts; his eyes refocused.
"If there are no other issues, you should rest tonight and set off early tomorrow." the plump middle-aged man tapped the table, "I'll have someone send you out."
"Okay." Chen Yu nodded, not saying anything else, and turned to walk out of the office.
"Snap!"
"Remember!" the plump middle-aged man sat back in his boss chair and snapped his fingers, "Be here at seven sharp tomorrow morning."
Leaving the medieval-style castle.
With a solemn expression, Chen Yu wandered around the vast air-raid shelter, lost in thought.
Not knowing what to think.
It wasn't until the lights in the air-raid shelter dimmed—a simulation of nightfall—that he returned to the "community" of the tube building, went upstairs, and knocked on room 301.
Soon, Chen opened the door, and upon seeing it was Chen Yu, her brow immediately furrowed, "Little brother, where have you been running off to again?"
"Had some things to handle." Chen Yu entered the apartment, looking around, "Have you guys had dinner yet?"
"Not yet, we were waiting for you." Chen closed the door and hurried into the kitchen to start heating up the food, "Mom and Dad are in the master bedroom, call them."
"Hmm."
Before long.
Hot dishes were served on the table.
The Chen family of four sat at the dining table, silently eating their food.
"This smoked meat tastes quite good." Chen Yu attempted to start a conversation, "Did the property management send this too?"
"The property management only sent us rice and vegetables." Chen scooped up a mouthful of rice, chewing unclearly, "This was from that friend of yours, the one with the full beard."
"Oh." Chen Yu nodded, fell silent for a while, then put down his chopsticks, "By the way, Dad, Mom, I have something to tell you."

"Uhh... with that tone, I've got a bad feeling about this." Chen's eyes were intense as she scrutinized Chen Yu.
"Speak." Chen picked up some food as usual.
"I've got some things to do recently, and I'll be leaving tomorrow. It might be a while before I can come back." Chen Yu got straight to the point.
Upon hearing this, Chen also put down his chopsticks, exchanging a glance with Ms. Chen. After a moment's hesitation, he spoke, "Son, there's a saying I don't know if you've heard of."
"Which is?" Chen Yu asked.
Ms. Chen said, "Parents around, do not venture far."
Chen added, "If you travel, have a purpose."
Ms. Chen asked, "What are you going to do?"
"Just... handling some things," Chen Yu scratched his ear, "It's not convenient to tell you. But don't worry, it's not dangerous."
"The problem is," Chen looked troubled, "in this unfamiliar den of evil, it's very dangerous for us. Especially for Mom and Dad, they are really scared."
"Scared my ass." Chen swallowed the food in his mouth, "We old folks aren't living that much longer anyway; what's there to be scared of?"
Ms. Chen nodded in agreement, "If you must go, Xiaoyu, then go. Don't worry about us."
Chen exclaimed, "Dad!"
"Shut up!" Chen slammed the table, stern-faced, "Some things are not for Xiaoyu to decide. We can't hold him back any longer."
"..." Chen pursed her lips, silently lowering her head.
"Everyone has their duties," Chen waved his hand, "Xiaoyu, just be safe. Your sister is ultimately an 'evil creature', and we won't be easily bullied here."
"Sigh." Ms. Chen sighed, "With everything so chaotic outside, having a place to live is pretty good."
Chen Yu looked at his three family members, his eyes filled with complexity.
Their family's current situation was actually very bad.
Under the influence of various forces, Chen Yu was essentially walking a tightrope.
One misstep and his family could get involved.
And...
If he couldn't complete the "mission" in ten days, then he might as well collect his three family members' bodies...
"..."
The dining table fell into silence.
For a long time, no one spoke again.
It wasn't until Chen picked up his chopsticks and tapped the table, commanding "Eat," that room 301 managed to avoid becoming dead silent.
"Done eating."
Ten minutes later, Chen put down his chopsticks, stood up, and licked his lips, "Xiaoyu, what time are you leaving tomorrow?"
"A little after six in the morning."
"Then sleep here tonight."
"Alright."
Chen Yu nodded and said, "Dad, you sit down first."
"Ah? What now?" Chen sat back at the table.
"This." Chen Yu pulled out a pure black bead from his chest and gently placed it on the table.
"What is this?" Ms. Chen curiously stared at the bead.
"It should be a Soul Bead." Chen's eyes twinkled.
"Right." Chen Yu's gaze shifted back and forth between Ms. Chen and Chen, "A genuine Soul Bead."
Ms. Chen asked, "What's a Soul Bead?"
"Simply put, it's a valuable treasure. Any 'evil creature' that dies will condense into this thing."
"So, is this mainly what you Transcendents hunt 'evil creatures' for?" Chen caught on quickly.
"Right." Chen Yu nodded, "It's very powerful. Any Transcendent who consumes it can enhance their strength and possibly even upgrade their supernatural abilities."
"If your sister... I mean, if something were to happen to her, would she turn into a Soul Bead too?" Ms. Chen was taken aback.
"Yeah."
"Then showing us this, what are you implying?" Chen picked up the Soul Bead, examining it closely.
"I want to give it to you and Mom to eat," Chen Yu said succinctly, "Ordinary people who consume it have a high probability of awakening supernatural abilities."
Upon hearing this, everyone was astonished.
