Chapter 116 Beating Everyone Up (Part 3)
The mushroom cloud's dust slowly dissipated.
Inside the arena, a man and a "fungus" finally began their close-quarters brawl.
Getting up from the ground, Chen Yu dusted himself off and sighed for no reason, then turned to the proctor beside him and asked, "So, if I go out to buy some military hardware now, would I still make it back in time?"
"Definitely not," the proctor frowned, sizing up Chen Yu, "Once you enter the examination area, you can't leave. Why didn't you prepare in advance?"
"Damn it, nobody told me we were comparing firepower here."
"You can't leave anyway, just fend for yourself," the proctor waved dismissively.
Chen Yu had no choice but to switch his focus, returning to the guy who had been "shot in the groin," squatting down and patting his shoulder, "Bro, you okay?"
"I'm fine," the man clutched his lower abdomen, his face pale.
"Sure you don't need to go to the hospital?"
"No need."
"Looking at your condition, you probably can't get up on the stage," Chen Yu suggested, "How about you sell your military hardware to me for a high price? It wouldn't be a wasted trip then."
"No way." The man's eyes were firm. "My opponent this round is trash. It's a rare opportunity, I should be able to take him down even with injuries. At the very least, I want to rank in the top ten and get the reward."
"Anyone who made it into the top twenty and onto the stage shouldn't be trash, right?" Chen Yu looked around in confusion, "Who's your opponent?"
The man lifted his trembling right hand and took out a sphere numbered "9" from his chest.
Chen Yu: "..."
In the midst of their conversation,
The man and the mushroom on the stage had already determined the winner.
Unsurprisingly, the human Transcendent was defeated. His arm broken, he immediately chose to surrender.
Within the vast stands, the cheers of several hundred thousand people gradually quieted down.
"The first round's first match of the combat examination has ended," the chief examiner declared, expressionless, waving his hand, "The winner—'Lunarmagus Lasar Clan,' **."
The Moon Demon Laselle species wiped the light green fluid from its wound with a tentacle and turned to leave.
The defeated Transcendent lay on the ground gasping for a while longer, then got up, picked up his severed arm, and staggered off the stage.
"For the arena battles, the first round, second match! Contestant number 3, *** and the warrior from the Secret Tribe please take to the stage. Wait on the north and south sides respectively."
"Number 3?"
The candidates in the prep area were stunned, exchanging glances.
"Shouldn't it be the turn of the two with number 2 according to the order?"
"Strange."
"It might be a mistake by the chief examiner. I noticed before that he seems not to be good with numbers."
"So, should I go up or not?" The candidate holding the number 3 sphere looked lost.
Hovering above the arena, the chief examiner inexplicably gazed towards the prep area and repeated, "Would the two contestants numbered 3 please come up to the stage for combat. Hurry."
And so,
The two Transcendents carrying the "number 3" spheres hesitantly took to the stage.
Again it was a combination of one person and one alien species.
Chen Yu recognized the alien among them.
It was the monkey he had severely shot twice for cutting in line.
Its compatriot's brain was still in his liquid nitrogen canister.
"Go for it!" The tens of thousands of spectators cheered warmly again.
"Boom, boom, boom!" The sound of drums swept over the entire venue once more.

And what followed was as expected.
The opponents simultaneously pulled out their respective military hardware and began a spirited exchange of fire.
"Hello, are you Chen Yu?" Just then, Chen Yu's shoulder was suddenly gripped by a hand.
He turned and found a team of nearly ten people standing behind him, forming a semi-circle around him, with him at the center.
"Who are you looking for?" Chen Yu sensed the hostility of their approach.
"Chen Yu," the team leader squeezed Chen Yu's shoulder tighter.
"That's him," Chen Yu pointed towards the Transcendent squatting on the ground, clutching his lower abdomen, "His name is Chen Yu."
The Transcendent looked up: "?"
"He's not," the team leader's eyes flashed coldly, "You are."
Chen Yu: "Then why the hell are you even asking?"
Team Leader: "Proper procedures must be followed. Are you Chen Yu?"
Chen Yu: "No."
Team Leader: "..."
Chen Yu: "Got a bug or something?"
"What's going on?" A man with long hair came over from not far, eyeing everybody's attire, "Are you from the Inspection Bureau?"
"Under the Inspection Bureau, working in the department that handles foreign affairs," the team leader said emotionlessly, pointing at Chen Yu, "Is he Chen Yu?"
Chen Yu narrowed his eyes and shook his head at the man with long hair.
The man with long hair got the message and flashed an OK sign, then nodded at the team leader, "Yes, that's Chen Yu."
Chen Yu: "..."
"Good." The team leader nodded to Chen Yu, "Identity confirmed, please come with us."
In the center of the arena,
The chief examiner, who had been watching the combat all along, glanced at the situation in the prep area with peripheral vision, his brow furrowing slightly as he flew closely past Chen Yu.
Looking down from above at the team leader, he asked, "Who are you?"
"The Inspection Bureau's external affairs temporary squad," the team leader replied stoutly, pulling out his ID for the chief examiner to inspect, "Following the Headquarters' orders to inquire about some issues with Mr. Chen Yu."
"What issues?"
"We are not at liberty to reveal that."
"Then I'm afraid I must refuse the Inspection Bureau's request," the chief examiner pointed at Chen Yu, "Candidate Chen Yu is about to participate in the upcoming arena battle. He cannot leave."
Hearing this, the team leader hesitated, turned to confer in hushed tones with his subordinates, and then said to the chief examiner, "We can disclose some details about the case. Mr. Chen Yu is involved in two 'alien species' guest dismemberment cases, which are of great importance and high priority. Please cooperate."
