Chapter 78
“…How many points do I need to score?”
As I looked around the booth, I asked the manager, who pointed somewhere with his hand.
1st – Gunkoo: 1215 points
2nd – Resin: 813 points
3rd – Gorani: 800 points
–
–
–
8th – Pia: 411 points
9th – Yun Gae: 410 points
A large whiteboard hanging on the wall outside the booth displayed the rankings from 1st to 9th place.
Ranks 2 through 9 seemed to have been rewritten multiple times, with visible traces of erasures and previous scores, but the top rank was completely untouched.
“This challenge is going viral among YouTubers! Hurry and knock that smug Yoon Gaeout of the rankings!”
“Why me?! If you’re going to do it, aim to dethrone the first-place score!”
1215 points—a number that vaguely reminded me of Geum Sa-hyang’s birthday—but I had to beat that score.
Whether it was someone who came yesterday or today, the fact that the top rank hadn’t changed was clear.
Yun Gae, who was also a gaming streamer, was in 9th place.
The clips of Yoon GaeI occasionally saw were either of him singing loudly or doing bizarre reactions.
But whenever I dropped by his streams, most of the time, he was just playing games.
His main content was FPS games, with decent aim and reflexes.
He even played Lesik as his main game and reached Gold tier.
Though his rank had dropped a bit recently, his skills probably hadn’t deteriorated much.
Yet, Yoon Gaewas in 9th place.
“Can you demonstrate for us?”
The gun was a toy commonly seen in arcades—not a typical pistol or rifle but a musket-like weapon with a long barrel.
The bullets looked small and light, resembling either air gun pellets or high-quality BBs.
“This thing is really tricky. Manager, where on earth did you find something like this?!”
“Collecting these is my hobby. Haha.”
“Why?”
Chocoa, intrigued by the peculiar gun, leaned close behind me and asked.
“This… let me have one more try!”
“Sure, sure.”
Yoon Gaehanded a few 1,000-won bills to the manager, who chuckled and handed him dozens of fragile-looking bullets.
“This… this gun is seriously ridiculous! It’s like using some old-timey Wild West gun. Seriously…”
Gritting his teeth, Yoon Gaeloaded bullets into the side of the gun barrel.
“One… two… three… four…”
“Alright… start!”
The small timer was set to one minute, and as soon as Yoon Gaefinished loading, the timer activated and began counting down.
Click—Bang!
Click—Bang!
“…Ah…”
I could see why his score was so low.
The gun seemed to hold about 10 bullets at a time.
There were 20 more bullets on the table in front of Yun Gae, making a total of 30 bullets.
The targets… moved.
Five panels, roughly drawn to resemble Lesik characters, appeared on mechanical devices that moved unpredictably.
Each panel had points marked on different parts of the body, and every successful hit caused the scoreboard at the back to update.
“Oh…”
Beep-beep-beep!
The timer went off noisily as Yoon Gaecarefully set the gun down, looking frustrated.
His final score was 420 points.
He had hit one more target than before, raising his score by 10 points and moving him from 9th to 7th place.
Feeling the expectant gazes of everyone around me, I pulled out a 1,000-won bill.
The game seemed to officially start after loading the gun.
I picked up the gun Yoon Gaehad just set down.
It was surprisingly light but still felt hefty to me.
I checked the barrel and adjusted my posture for shooting.
“Miss, have you ever fired something like this before?”
“No, does this look about right?”
The manager nodded as the ceiling lights reflected off his glasses, momentarily dazzling me.
Click—
Supporting the long barrel and muzzle with my left hand, I firmly gripped the trigger and handle with my right.
When I placed the stock against my shoulder, a thin sight came into view.
Click—Click—
“…Give me the bullets.”
Headshots were worth 50 points, arms and legs 15 points each, and torso shots 30 points.
To beat 1215 points, I needed to land at least 20 headshots out of the 30 available bullets.
Based on Yun Gae’s demonstration, the bullet speed seemed fast.
I grabbed as many bullets as I could in one hand.
I could hold about two at a time and quickly loaded them into the gun using my fingers.
Click—
“Good luck! 3,000 people are watching! Gunkoo told you to bring it on! Show him who’s boss!”
Ninima held her selfie stick pointed at me and shouted.
“…Alright, I’ll take him on.”
After loading all the bullets, I pushed and pulled the gun’s handle once.
The sound of the chamber locking in place echoed.
I bit down on two bullets, their rubbery texture feeling oddly dry.
The manager silently watched and pressed the timer.
Beep—
Bang!
A short beep signaled the start as the panels popped up.
There was no time to analyze their movement patterns after just one instance.
Instead, I focused entirely on aiming and shooting during the demonstration.
With almost no recoil against my shoulder, the small bullet hit the target’s head and bounced off.
Once a target panel was hit, it quickly dropped down.
More precisely, it leaned back, making it inefficient to shoot a panel that was already falling.
There was no guarantee of gaining points by hitting a panel consecutively anyway.
I aimed for the head as much as possible, maneuvering the handle and pulling the trigger.
I widened my field of view to react to the panels popping up irregularly.
“Tsk…”
The first five bullets all hit the head, but one stray shot struck the torso.
I could clearly see and calculate when and where to shoot, but my body didn’t fully cooperate.
Unlike in a game where I only needed to move my wrists and fingers in front of a monitor, this required using my shoulders, arms, and even stepping lightly to adjust my aim, which made it harder to maintain focus.
Still, apart from the one stray shot to the torso, all other bullets hit the head.
My hands trembled slightly, but I used my other hand and fingers to reload four bullets at a time, twice, along with the two bullets I had held in my mouth earlier.
I bit down on two more bullets and pushed and pulled the handle again.
“Hoo…”
I stepped slightly farther away from the table while reloading.
The targets looked smaller now, but my eyes locked onto their heads with precision, guiding my hands to move accordingly.
With more precise and efficient movements, I pulled the trigger.
The final score was 1415 points.
Not bad, but I regretted the one stray shot at the start and another where my aim missed the head.
Honestly, if I tried again, I could probably score 1500, but my fingers and arms were too sore, so I decided to stop.
Swish, swish.
The manager, seemingly moved, updated the whiteboard.
“Ha! Stupid Yun Gae! Back to 9th place again!”
“….”
Lee Su-yeon – 1st: 1415 points
Gunkoo – 2nd: 1215 points
“Gunkoo, when I go live later…”
I spoke toward Ninima’s selfie stick, and the chat flooded with comments.
Gunkoo: …She actually broke my record.
Afterward, Yoon Gaeand Ninima decided to move on for the sake of content.
Chocoa and Min-young also tried shooting.
However, Min-young ran out of time while reloading, and Chocoa missed all her shots because, as she insisted, “the gun was weird.”
It was definitely the gun’s fault.
The three of us wandered around various booths, exploring cosplay, experience zones, and games with different equipment.
We also tackled every ranking-based challenge booth we could find.
We conquered tasks requiring reflexes, aim, and agility.
“But your stamina and endurance were practically the worst.”
“Haha…”
“Now even the camera battery is almost dead…”
To conserve the battery, Min-young turned off the camera while we were walking without filming anything.
“So, where are we going next?”
Chocoa asked while gazing out the window.
Inside the swiftly moving taxi, the lights streaming past the window made her look incredibly stunning.
“Ta-da… grilled clams!”
I exaggerated my reaction a bit, which made my sister glance at me with a worried expression.
“Then what will you eat, unnie?”
“Me… I’m full…”
And I wasn’t lying.
I felt like I had eaten twice as much as usual.
I’d barely finished my tonkatsu earlier, and on top of that, she and Chocoa kept feeding me food from the food trucks.
Though I was feeling slightly bloated earlier, I felt fine now.
“Mm…”
She seemed a bit uncomfortable about eating seafood I couldn’t have.
There was no need for them to worry about me, but their concern was heartwarming.
“It’s fine. Even though we celebrated your birthday yesterday, today is your day too. You said you wanted to try this. And tomorrow, we’re going to see the ocean, so eat well and get plenty of rest.”
“…You’re the best, unnie. I love you!”
“Thanks. Eat a lot.”
“….”
A short while later, the taxi stopped.
Traveling like this cost a bit, but I didn’t mind.
On trips like this, happiness and family always come first over money.
“Ooh…!”
“This looks delicious.”
Hearing their voices as I watched cheese melt perfectly over the sizzling clams on the grill made me smile.
“Have you had this before?”
“Uh… I do eat seafood occasionally, so I’ve tried it before. It looks really good.”
Since I couldn’t eat the seafood anyway, I volunteered to do the grilling.
Once they were perfectly cooked, I placed the clams onto plates for Chocoa and Min-young.
“Aaah…”
I let out a grandmother-like groan as I lay down on the bed, finally feeling true comfort.
“Unnie worked the hardest, so you should shower first.”
“Exactly. We’ll unpack the luggage.”
“Huh? Really? Thanks…”
I grabbed my pajamas and underwear from my suitcase and headed to the bathroom.
Since I’d left my cat-themed pajamas at home for Strawberry, who was probably alone, today’s sleepwear was just a plain pair of pants and a short-sleeved shirt.
I placed my clothes into the basket, undressed completely, and entered the shower area.

Lee Min-young POV
Swooshhh
The light sound of running water echoed in the room.
Min-young moved as quietly as possible toward the bathroom.
Though Chocoa noticed her, Minyoung simply gestured for silence with her finger, not showing any sign of embarrassment.
“….”
Chocoa opened her mouth to speak but stopped upon seeing what Min-young was holding.
In her hand was a pair of short dolphin shorts.
