Chapter 147: Collaterals
Collaterals
Chaos spread throughout the hidden realm and virtually nowhere was safe from the sudden instability.
In some places, creatures had to follow their instincts and flee, and moments later, catastrophic earthquakes started to happen as the ground was overturned and impossibly deep ravines were opened in the ground.
In other places, the ground split open before jets of pure ice Mana shot into the sky like icy blue pillars, and any creature that was caught by these jets, regardless of their resistance to the cold, was frozen inside out instantly.
However, due to the constant shift of the land, various rare treasures that had been previously undiscovered were brought to the surface to be claimed. But this brought its fair share of issues as well.
The various beasts of the hidden realm, upon sensing these rare treasures, no longer cared about their self-preservation and threw themselves at the treasures, hoping to devour them. But with the amount of creatures swarming each treasure, there was bound to be a bloodbath, which there was.
As Murphy's law states. Anything that can go wrong will go wrong. And that is exactly what is happening right now.
No one would have been able to guess that the reason for all this ruckus was due to a single being that found the way the realm worked irritating.
So, while Christopher was busy trying to fix fate according to his desires, everyone else was suffering because of it.

Titus grit his teeth as another violent tremor rocked the entire fortress, the cause being the Titanic explosion that occurred some ways away from the fortress.
He didn't know why, but suddenly, pockets of condensed mana deep under the ground suddenly became unstable and started erupting, resulting in these massive explosions that were occurring.
He was thanking his lucky stars that the fortress hadn't been placed directly over any of these pockets. Otherwise, who knows what could have happened?
That said, the current situation was far from ideal.
That's because the explosions weren't their only problems. In fact, as things stood, they were the least of his problems.
One of the explosions sent something their way, a large crystal that had very dense ice Mana coming from it.
Tristan the Dragon told him that it was a very rare and powerful ice-based treasure, and normally, such a thing would have made everyone ecstatic. However, at this point, Titus was beginning to wonder if it was even worth it.
That's because, despite the apocalyptic situation they were in right now, the senses of many beasts had been stimulated by the treasure that landed conveniently in their laps, and they were hungry for it.
That's why right now, Titus was staring at a horde of monsters that was dozens of times larger than the tide of rabbits they had fought earlier.
One might ask, isn't this something that would warrant the help of their general Umbra?
Titus looked into the distance where an utterly terrifying battle was currently taking place.
He couldn't see much due to the distance, but that entire area was pitch black with no light entering whatsoever, and judging by the horrifying roars happening inside that darkness, it was safe to say that Umbra was busy.
The Dragon had lured away the most dangerous foes to battle them without interruptions. So at the very least, Titus didn't need to worry about fighting anything he or his people couldn't handle.
'That said, could we handle this?' His mind buzzed as he continued to observe the monsters.
This time, it wasn't just rabbits, but a large variety of beasts. From wolves to bears reptilians to mammoths to even towering monstrosities that looked like an amalgamation of frozen flesh. There were also a variety of flying beasts that all looked dreadful and scary.
It was a sight that would have shaken anyone to their core, and Titus was almost the same.
Almost.
With a deep, steadying breath, Titus calmed his raging heart and put aside his doubts. There was no room for that here.

Immediately, he sent a mental command to everyone within the base.
'All ranged units, artillery, rail guns, snipers, archers, everyone with range, do not hold anything back. We aren't constrained by our energy capacity unlike during our training. Do not worry about getting exhausted either, Lady Eidrasil will deal with our exertion. Do not hold anything back and attack with all your might!' The order came loud and clear.
Not a moment later, chaos erupted.
Before when they were facing the rabbits, everything had still been in a controlled order, from the frequency of the shots the artillery cannons made, to the prioritization of targets from the rail guns, and so on.
But with how things were, that stuff didn't matter anymore, and instead, projectiles were being ejected at an astonishing rate.
Countless explosions occurred in a short amount of time as the bodies of beasts were blown apart and shredded by the onslaught of magic and technology.
The various magic machine guns and C-Rams came to life and unleashed hell on the flying beasts. Landmines were triggered resulting in horrifying explosions that carried various effects. From typical fire to chain lightning and metal shrapnel.
The rail guns no longer held back their horrifying power as various giant monstrosities had their bodies shaved apart and turned into mists of blood from the sheer force.
The damage the fortress unleashed was unlike anything the hidden realm had seen before and creatures were being slain left and right.
But despite that, they had only made a small, inconsequential dent in the massive horde, and it didn't take long before the ranged attacks weren't enough to hold the beasts back.
A tide of monsters rushed towards the ground soldiers who braced themselves, and it looked like a tsunami was about to crash into a fragile wall.
However, the enchantment of the base activated and the creatures were instantly weakened while the soldiers were strengthened. Still, the sheer number of beasts was overwhelming.
However, the Genesis Corps weren't your average interstellar force, and each of them was a trained elite.
That's why when the horde of monsters crashed into the shield wall, it didn't budge at all. With a collective yell, the first line of shield bearers held fast, and their comrades behind them started killing the beasts that treated to overwhelm them.
Oke should keep in mind that, with the massive number of beasts, and with how large the stro hold was, staying close together wasn't wise as that would allow the beasts to easily go around them or encircle them.
As such, they had been forced to keep a considerable amount of distance between themselves yo make sure the shield wall was long enough. But that would create numerous gaps in the formation, wouldn't it?
That would be correct. But one must not forget who these soldiers were.
There was a collective shout as the first line of soldiers who held the wall activated a certain skill they were required to learn in their line of duty.
Immediately, all the soldiers became connected, and in an instant, the very first layer had a thick, bronze wall that stopped any monster from getting past. And while the wall stopped anything from getting in, it didn't stop the attacks of the defenders from getting out.
Moreover, unlike before, the soldiers didn't need to be frugal with their energy consumption as Christopher had once again allowed them access to the boundless energy contained within the Primordial Expanse.
As such, caught in a situation where hesitation meant death, the soldiers didn't hold back on the energy usage and had this collective barrier active on its highest setting, bringing forth the greatest results.
At the same time, the soldiers in charge of the various ranged devices started using their abilities as well, and the ranged attacks became even deadlier.
Titus watched all of this and exhaled. Seeing his men fighting so hard, it was only normal that he helped as well, no?
With a thought, he activated his territory, and he activated it with enough potency to encompass the entire fortress.
Immediately, the soldiers, as well as their weapons, the various war engines, and so one, all experienced a comprehensive boost in their abilities.
"Tristan!" Titus yelled, and the Dragon nodded before leaping and transformed into his dragon form.
With a roar, the various soldiers that could fly soared into the sky to assist the C-Rams that had to turn their attention to the more powerful flying beasts that could endure their harsh punishment.
Titus then looked at Raya who nodded and jumped down the walls and turned into a flash of lightning the moment she hit the ground.
In an instant, she flashed across the line of soldiers holding back the beasts, and the beasts plaguing them were sliced apart a moment later.
He presence instantly lessened to pressure, but Titus knew that she would need to move deeper into the horde at some point to handle the tougher creatures, so his men wouldn't enjoy the respite for long.
