Allen snapped out of his daze as Roxy stared at him.

"H-How... how can you be back?! This doesn't make sense... Mmmph..."

Roxy immediately covered Allen's mouth with her hand, looking around nervously before placing a finger to her lips.

"Shh... keep it down! Everyone's still asleep."

Allen blinked, his gaze shifting to Roxy's hand. She blinked back at him, then quickly pulled her hand away, tugging at the strands of hair on her forehead as she whispered,

"...I just came back to check if you were all okay. It seems like everything's fine, and you've joined the Greyrat family... Congratulations. Don't make a fuss. I'll leave soon..."

Allen stared at Roxy, still trying to process what was happening.

'Why? Why did Roxy suddenly come back? Everything up until tonight was more or less under control, but what's going on now? What does she mean by checking if we're okay??'

"But... if you just came back to check on us, why travel in the middle of the night? And now that you've seen me, you're leaving? What about Paul, Zenith, and Rudy? That doesn't make sense..."

Roxy scratched her cheek, not minding that Allen had dropped the formalities. After a moment of thought, she decided to tell Allen what she had learned, even though he seemed fine now...

"I came here because, while passing through the Adventurer's Guild in Donadi Territory—Rigette City, I found..."

She pulled out a neatly folded piece of high-quality paper from her robe and handed it to Allen after glancing at his expression.

Allen frowned as he took it and unfolded it, his expression turning to one of surprise.

It was a missing person notice, the paper worn, indicating it had been posted for some time. The writing carried a distinctly noble tone.

To All Adventurers:

I, James Boreas Greyrat, am deeply distressed to report that my beloved son, Allen Boreas Greyrat, has gone missing during his journey for education near the Red Dragon's Jaw. Despite my efforts, none of the search parties I've sent have been able to locate him.

I hereby issue this notice, seeking the assistance of adventurers in finding my son.

Allen is nine years old but already stands as tall as an adult woman. He has a sturdy build, brown hair, grey eyes, and slightly curly hair. His eyebrows are often raised, and his gaze is sharp. He usually combs his hair back, and when speaking, his eyebrows tend to rise, giving him a sharp yet composed demeanor.

If you encounter someone matching this description, please provide any information to the Boreas Estate in the royal capital.

A reward of 200 gold coins will be given for verified information.

A reward of 1,000 gold coins will be given for bringing him safely to the estate.

Thank you for your assistance.

Allen squinted as he finished reading the notice, then looked up at Roxy with a thoughtful expression.

"I'm sorry. When I met you, I... instinctively hid some things from you. It was to keep my whereabouts secret."

Seeing Allen's raised eyebrows, Roxy blinked, feeling a bit embarrassed.

"Well... um... adventurers not telling the whole truth is understandable... You did tell the truth, just never mentioned what kind of trouble you were in... I ended up jumping to strange conclusions... Sorry..."

Allen, still puzzled, decided to probe further.

"Even so, you didn't need to come all the way back just to ask me about this, right? You could've sent a letter... So there must be something else, isn't there?"

Roxy hesitated for a moment, then pulled out another piece of paper from her robe, this one slightly frayed and of lower quality. She handed it to Allen.

Allen took it and unfolded it, his expression darkening immediately.

It was a bounty notice, written in crude and straightforward language, a stark contrast to James's missing person notice.

Night Lion Thieves Guild Bounty Notice:

Target: Allen Boreas Greyrat

Description: Brown hair, grey eyes, and a face that looks annoyingly smug.

Bounty: 1,000 gold coins.

Swordsman Rank: Water God Style—Advanced. Killed nine of our men at the Red Dragon's Jaw. Those interested are advised to prepare accordingly for a 'hunt.'

Special Note: Only the body is required.

Upon completion, contact the local Night Lion Thieves Guild. Payment will be made upon delivery.

This bounty is valid indefinitely.

Night Lion

Allen stared at the notice for a long time, then let out a cold, humorless laugh.

'I see... No wonder Roxy rushed back. A 1,000 gold bounty from a thieves' guild... Tsk, James, you never fail to disappoint. Killing someone is clearly faster than bringing them back to the capital, huh? Such a blatant bounty... But why hasn't Paul mentioned this? Philip asked him to gather information...'

Allen looked up at Roxy, who seemed unsure of what to say.

"Was this bounty notice also found at the Adventurer's Guild? Paul has been helping me gather information, but he hasn't mentioned anything about a bounty."

Roxy had already read both notices multiple times on her way back. She realized that this was undoubtedly orchestrated by the Boreas family in the capital. The combination of the missing person notice and the bounty made it clear that James wanted Allen dead, while the missing person notice was just a facade to maintain the family's noble image. This situation left her at a loss for words.

After all, she had left her village because she was ostracized for not being able to use telepathy. But while she had only faced cold shoulders, Allen's own father had ordered his death.

'This child is only nine... What could he have done in the capital to deserve this? Murder? Arson? He doesn't seem like that kind of person... No wonder he was so cautious and fearful on the journey. He must have had some idea of what was coming, yet he still gave me what little money he had...'

She took a deep breath and replied,

"Actually, I got this bounty notice while traveling to Rigette... Three bandits suddenly jumped out of the forest and stopped me. I got it from them. The bounty seems to be circulating only in the underworld. At the Adventurer's Guild, I only found the missing person notice and didn't hear anything else... Speaking of which, the Adventurer's Guild in the Asura Kingdom is really quiet... There aren't many requests, so I noticed it right away."

Allen's eyebrows twitched.

"Bandits jumped out of the forest on your way to Rigette City? Were they looking for me?"

Roxy nodded.

"According to them, a group of bandits is searching for you along the southern foothills of the Red Dragon Mountains."

Allen's expression turned grim.

"...That... doesn't make sense. The traces I left pointed north. Why would they be searching the southern foothills?"
