Multiverse Family System: Rise of the Charlotte Family

Chapter 25: Aptitude Pills

---

Splash, splash~~~

Joey boarded the ship accompanied by Opera and his five brothers. Alongside them were Brûlée and Broye, his two younger sisters.

Or so it seemed.

Once aboard, Joey called out, "Custard, Angel! How much longer do you plan to hide?"

"…"

At the sound of his voice, Brûlée and Broye glanced around curiously.

Soon enough, from the cabin, two more little girls emerged, equally adorable.

Brûlée and Broye were only five years old, while Custard and Angel were just seven. In short, four little girls were now part of the group.

"…"

The two elder sisters lowered their heads apologetically.

Custard softly spoke, "Big brother, I'm sorry! We shouldn't have followed you."

"Haha…" Joey chuckled. "I'm not angry. You're my family, my little sisters. No matter the time or place, you should never feel the need to hide. As long as it's safe, it's fine. If it were dangerous, of course, I wouldn't have allowed it."

"Huh?"

"Really?"

The two young girls instantly perked up.

Angel excitedly asked, "Big brother, does that mean you'll take us out with you?"

Joey shook his head. "Since you're already aboard, I can't send you back now, can I? But let me be clear—this isn't a leisure trip. We have work to do."

"Yes!"

The two girls nodded obediently.

Joey didn't mind their presence. After all, they were his sisters, and he wasn't some reckless pirate. There wasn't much danger for them to fear.

---

As the ship set sail, Opera finished arranging things and approached Joey.

"Big brother, where's our first destination?"

Joey, seated with Brûlée on his lap, responded, "Opera, what do you think is the most important thing for the Charlotte Family to build a nation?"

"To build a nation?"

"The most important thing?"

The other brothers joined the conversation, their curiosity piqued.

After a moment of thought, Gala ventured, "Big brother, is it the citizens?"

Joey nodded. "Exactly! To establish Totto Land, we need citizens—especially ones from different races. That's what makes it special. Mom's vision isn't just to create an ordinary nation; she wants a land where people of all races can live together harmoniously. Citizens are the foundation of that dream."

"True."

"That's right."

"Exactly."

The brothers nodded in agreement.

Opera, deep in thought, asked, "So, is that why you bought such a large number of Onis and Dwarves, big brother?"

Joey didn't answer directly, instead offering a mysterious smile.

In this world, Onis and Dwarves didn't naturally exist. Yet Joey had acquired them in massive quantities. Over time, their cost had become absurdly cheap—just three Devil Fruits could purchase 10,000 Onis or Dwarves.

While their innate talents were decent, they didn't compare to the likes of Demons, Angels, Titans, or Dragons—races that were in a completely different league.

Moreover, Devil Fruits had become valuable commodities, and countless people sought Joey out for trades.

Why? Because possessing a Devil Fruit meant the potential to grasp the concept of Laws, even if only in their nascent form. That alone made them invaluable.

In the past 14 years, the chaotic pricing of earlier days had stabilized. Currently, ten Devil Fruits could buy a complete Divine Root. Back then, Joey had spent 22 Devil Fruits for a single one.

Now, with the price drop, Joey possessed five complete Divine Roots. However, they were becoming harder to acquire, so he used them sparingly. He didn't want to regret it later.

Still…

Seeing the potential of Katakuri and Cracker, Joey realized they were the perfect candidates.

"It's about time," Joey thought to himself. "This training journey for Katakuri and Cracker is the ideal opportunity to enhance their potential."

After a brief moment of contemplation, Joey upgraded both of their talents again.

---

Joey nodded in satisfaction. "Mom, Katakuri, Cracker… the next phase of your rapid growth is about to begin."

But his plans didn't stop there.

The world was on the cusp of another chaotic era. With the fall of the Rocks Pirates, the triumvirate of Roger, Whitebeard, and the Flying Pirates would dominate the seas. The Charlotte Family had to seize their share of power in this new age.

"If that's the case," Joey mused, "it's time to enhance the potential of all these kids."

Using Aptitude Pills, Joey boosted the potential of ten siblings: Perospero, Compote, Daifuku, Oven, Amande, Opera, Counter, Cadenza, Cabaletta, and Gala.

Each pill could raise potential a level until Gold Level 1, and though it wasn't as powerful as a Divine Root, it was still invaluable. Joey spent 65 Aptitude Pills, nearly his entire collection of 70 pills.

It was worth it. The family was entering a crucial growth period, and these investments would yield immense returns.
