Chapter 26: Chapter 26: Predicted Your Prediction

Ren Asakura stopped in his tracks.

"Shizuka, do you need something else?"

Shizuka Hiratsuka thought for a moment before speaking.

"I'm taking you two somewhere."

Thinking about that place, Shizuka couldn't help but smile.

Since she couldn't deal with these two problem children's odd personalities, she'd just let someone else handle them.

---

They arrived at a clubroom.

Shizuka opened the door and walked in with the two troublemakers.

A gentle breeze swayed the white curtains, and cherry blossom petals fluttered through the air.

A long-haired girl sat by the window, reading a book.

This scene deserved a poem.

Her jet-black hair swayed with the wind, and the pages of her book turned rhythmically.

Hearing the noise, she turned her head toward the three visitors.

"Miss Hiratsuka, I believe I've asked you to knock before entering, haven't I?"

Shizuka waved her hand dismissively.

"Even if I knock, you never respond anyway."

The girl replied calmly, "That's because by the time I'm about to respond, you've already barged in. Anyway, why did you bring these two here?"

Ren tilted his head and spoke with his usual ease.

"Hachiman, look! A beauty! A long-haired, black-haired beauty! A rare and valuable character type!"

Even Hachiman had to admit that the girl before them was stunning.

Ren Asakura was famous throughout the school—almost everyone knew his name.

"And what business do this so-called 'top-ranked problem student' and this clueless-looking classmate have with me?"

The moment the girl spoke, Hachiman felt a sharpness in her words, like a hedgehog covered in thorns.

Just getting close to her felt painful.

But Ren acted as if he hadn't noticed at all and spoke in his usual carefree manner.

"Yukino Yukinoshita, I've heard of you. Top of your class, one of the most outstanding girls in our grade, and a school celebrity. Let me introduce myself—I'm Ren Asakura. Let's be friends."

Yukino closed her book.

"Can I refuse?"

Ren took a dramatic step back, clutching his chest as if he had been shot.

"I got rejected…! A beauty actually rejected me…! My heart… it hurts!"

Those who didn't understand the situation might have thought Ren Asakura had just confessed and been rejected.

Hachiman Hikigaya suddenly recalled the past. Ren had once approached him the same way, saying, "Let's be friends!"

Hachiman had been caught off guard and didn't reject him in time—before he knew it, they were friends.

Ren, as if possessed by a drama king, instantly regained his energy.

"I won't give up, Yukinoshita! I will become your friend!"

Then, he turned to Hachiman.

"Hachiman, today I'll show you how a cheerful and outgoing guy makes friends. Watch and learn!"

Shizuka Hiratsuka pressed her fingers to her forehead.

"Enough, enough! Stop messing around. Let's get to the point—they're both applying to join the club."

Yukino Yukinoshita blinked in surprise.

Hachiman scratched his head and introduced himself.

"I'm Hachiman Hikigaya, from Class 2-F. Sensei… what's this about joining a club?"

Shizuka turned slightly toward them.

"This is your punishment! You two are going to properly join this club!"

Ren suddenly burst out laughing.

"Shizuka, you never saw this coming, did you? I predicted your prediction! You already forgave me earlier, so your punishment doesn't work on me. It only applies to Hachiman!"

Shizuka shifted her stance, her leg moving into a textbook-perfect lunge.

Then, she threw a punch. The force of the wind from her fist barely missed Ren's face as it rushed past him.

Ren pretended to swallow nervously.

"Fine! I'm joining! I'll join right now! If anyone tries to stop me, I'll fight them!"

His expression was one of a warrior ready to face death.

Shizuka retracted her fist and smiled.

"Now that's more like it."

Then, she turned back to Yukino.

"As you can see, these two are infamous troublemakers in my class. I want you to help improve their personalities—at the very least, make them somewhat normal."

Ren shot his hand up and protested loudly.

"I am normal, sensei!"

"Shut up!"

Shizuka felt like she'd been getting angry far too often lately.

Too much anger makes a woman age faster.

"Anyway, that's my request," she said, facing Yukino.

"I refuse."

Yukino Yukinoshita rejected them outright.

Then, with a look of pure disdain, she said,

"Being stared at by these two men with their impure thoughts makes me feel like both my body and mind are under threat."

Even Hachiman Hikigaya hadn't expected this cold and aloof ice queen to say something that sharp.

Ren Asakura didn't hesitate to fire back.

"I like curves! I have zero interest in flat chests! I swear on my honor that I would never look at you with impure thoughts… wait, are you even an A-cup?"

It was too flat—Ren started to seriously doubt if she even reached an A.

A nameless fury suddenly flared up inside Yukino.

Shizuka Hiratsuka, seeing her anger rise, couldn't help but smile.

Anger doesn't disappear—it just gets redirected.

"Alright, alright, relax. Look, even though these two are massively awkward problem children, they'd never actually commit a crime. At the very least, they know how to assess risk and protect themselves. You can trust them," Shizuka said, stepping in to mediate.

Ren patted his chest, then slung an arm around Hachiman's shoulders.

"Relax, I swear—we're both good students! There's no way we'd do anything illegal."

Shizuka nodded.

"Yeah, if anything, their personalities are kinda cowardly."

Yukino let out a resigned sigh.

"Fine. Since it's a request from my teacher, I can't exactly refuse. I'll accept."

Shizuka felt a wave of satisfaction wash over her.

Finally! I've successfully dumped these two problem children onto someone else.

"I'll be counting on you, Yukinoshita," she said.

And just like that, Ren and Hachiman officially joined the Service Club.

---

Shizuka left.

Now, only two boys and one girl remained in the room.

Ren suddenly pulled Hachiman closer.

"Hachiman, the teacher's gone. Should we do something bad?"

Yukino visibly tensed up at his words.

Hachiman glanced at her.

"Uh… that doesn't sound like a good idea."

Ren leaned in, his voice full of mystery.

"What's bad about it? The teacher's gone, and I highly doubt Yukinoshita is the type to snitch."

Hachiman hesitated for a moment before sighing.

"Fine…"

Yukino had a terrible feeling about this.

Maybe she'd underestimated these two.

She'd been a bit too sharp-tongued earlier, and now that the teacher was gone, they might be planning to get back at her.

It wouldn't be the first time something like that had happened.

Just then, Ren stepped forward, reaching into his bag, as if to pull something out—
