Scene: Dunphy Living Room – Phil's "Cool Dad" Strategy Continues

(We open in the Dunphy living room. Dylan is on the couch with his guitar, while Haley sits beside him, occasionally glancing toward the kitchen where Claire is still watching them like a hawk. Elliot sits in a chair nearby, casually observing. Phil enters, rubbing his hands together.)

Phil: (Excited.) "Alright, Dylan, let's do it! Show me what you got."

(Dylan strums a soft, romantic chord, looking at Haley.)

Dylan: (Singing.)

"My heart beats fast when I see your face…"

"Every time, it's like I'm lost in space…"

(Haley smiles, clearly enjoying it. Claire, standing in the background, not enjoying it.)

Claire: (Whispering to Phil.) "He's singing about outer space. That's where I wish I was right now."

Phil: (Whispering back.) "Babe, this is gold." (Beat.) "Elliot, what do you think?"

(Elliot leans forward, pretending to be deep in thought.)

Elliot: (Deadpan.) "I think... if this were a TV show, people would be screaming at their screens right now."

(Cut to Elliot's talking-head interview.)

Elliot: (Shrugs.) "Look, I'm all for a good love song, but the second he rhymed 'face' with 'space,' I kinda checked out." (Beat.) "Also, Claire looked like she was about to combust."

(Cut back to Claire, who suddenly claps her hands together, forcing a smile.)

Claire: "Oh, Dylan, that was beautiful!" (Beat.) "You should definitely play that for your own parents sometime. You know. At your house."

(Haley groans, while Dylan chuckles nervously.)

Scene: Outside the Dunphy House – Alex & Elliot's Moment

(Later, Elliot and Alex are outside, sitting on the Dunphy porch steps. Alex has a book in her lap, and Elliot is holding a notebook, scribbling down ideas.)

Alex: (Glancing at his notes.) "What are you working on?"

Elliot: "An idea for an app." (Grinning.) "Something to expose cringy love songs before they reach human ears."

Alex: (Snorts.) "That's actually... kinda genius."

Elliot: (Mock-serious.) "I know." (Beat.) "Also, I'm calling it The Dylan Detector."

(Alex laughs, shaking her head.)

Alex: "You do realize Haley would murder you, right?"

Elliot: (Shrugs.) "Eh. Worth it."

(A comfortable silence settles in. Alex hesitates before speaking again.)

Alex: "So... you and my sister, huh?"

Elliot: (Raising an eyebrow.) "What about me and your sister?"

Alex: (Shrugs, looking away.) "Nothing. Just... she flirts with you."

Elliot: (Smirks.) "She flirts with everyone."

Alex: (Still avoiding eye contact.) "Yeah, I know."

(Beat. Elliot watches her for a moment, then nudges her playfully.)

Elliot: "You jealous?"

Alex: (Scoffs.) "Please." (Beat.) "I just don't want you catching a disease from her or something."

(Cut to Elliot's talking-head interview.)

Elliot: (Mock-offended.) "Alex really has a way of making a guy feel special."

Scene: The Chaos That Is Luke Dunphy

(Inside, Luke is running around the house with a toy lightsaber. He swings it wildly, narrowly missing Phil's head.)

Phil: (Ducking.) "Whoa! Easy there, buddy."

Luke: (Determined.) "I have to defeat Darth Mom before she destroys Dylan!"

(Phil loves this.)

Phil: (Proudly.) "That's my boy."

(Cut to Claire, who overheard.)

Claire: (Flatly.) "I hate everything about this."

(Luke suddenly spots Elliot walking in from outside.)

Luke: (Pointing at Elliot.) "Elliot! You can be my Jedi Master!"

Elliot: (Without hesitation.) "Absolutely not."

(Luke frowns, then points dramatically at Alex, who just walked in.)

Luke: "Then you will be my Jedi Master!"

Alex: (Deadpan.) "I'd rather be exiled."

(Cut to Luke's talking-head interview.)

Luke: (Shrugging.) "No one believes in me, but that's okay. All the great heroes start out alone." (Beat.) "Plus, I still have Dad."

(Cut to Phil, who is now wearing a blanket as a Jedi robe.)

Phil: (Serious.) "Fear leads to anger. Anger leads to hate. And hate leads to... not being a cool dad."

(Beat. Claire sighs, rubbing her temples.)

Scene: Elliot & Haley – A Subtle Shift

(Later in the evening, Elliot is heading home when Haley catches up to him on the sidewalk.)

Haley: (Grinning.) "So... what's the verdict? You think my boyfriend survived my mom?"

Elliot: (Mock-serious.) "Barely. She almost waterboarded him with her stare."

Haley: (Laughs, then tilts her head.) "You know, for someone who claims to be smart, you spend a lot of time here."

Elliot: (Smirks.) "What can I say? The chaos is entertaining."

(Beat. Haley studies him, an unreadable look in her eyes.)

Haley: (Teasing.) "You sure you don't just like hanging out with me?"

(For a split second, there's a pause. Then Elliot just grins.)

Elliot: "That depends—are you flirting with me?"

Haley: (Grinning.) "You wish."

*(She gives a serious face before walking back toward the house.)

(Cut to Elliot's talking-head interview. He stares at the camera, wide-eyed.)

Elliot: (Slowly.) "Okay. This was (pause),Nice?"
