Chapter 637 - 637: The Plan to Wipe Out the Family

Chapter 637: Chapter 637: The Plan to Wipe Out the Family

At four in the morning, the Blue Moon was hanging high, casting a faint, weapon-like sheen over the sky. Despite the clear weather, everything still appeared hazy, as if shrouded in thin clouds.

At that moment, two sleeping centipedes, corrupted by their greed, suddenly opened their lantern-like eyes. Their eyes, initially red, had turned pale blue under the dim light of the Blue Moon.

Though Li Yao had been expecting this transformation, seeing it firsthand still left him feeling a chill down his spine.

Hiss hiss…

The two gigantic pairs of eyes turned towards Li Yao. Startled, he quickly averted his gaze and huddled against a stone wall, holding his breath.

These colossal worms, comparable to mountain pythons, withdrew their gaze.

Then, their eyes shot out four rays of light, which landed on the grey worm eggs. The originally grey eggs also started to radiate a faint blue glow.

In this moment, their eyes held a hint of tenderness. Afterwards, their massive bodies burrowed into two dark and murky holes like a flash of lightning, disappearing from sight.

Despite their behemoth size, their movements were so silent that it was eerily strange.

Li Yao counted to thirty cautiously before peering at the spot where the two giant worms had been.

“I hope my information is correct, or I’m done for.”

Li Yao was a little nervous now. As great as his skills and strategies might be, he stood no chance against these high-level monsters. If they had not left, they could have killed him instantly.

Although he had tamed multiple serpents in the past, it was because they were restrained by the power of the ancient gods and due to some fortuitous circumstances. But these worms and other creatures wouldn’t be subdued as easily.

Li Yao crept cautiously towards one of the dark holes, only able to hear a faint rustling sound that was gradually moving away.

Finally, Li Yao relaxed. He hurried over to the place where the two worms had been resting, but a thorough search turned up nothing.

“These truly are selfish, all-devouring worms.”

He had already known that he wouldn’t find any spoils in a worm’s nest especially one belonging to an all-devouring worm—but he couldn’t help feeling disappointed.

This was a level sixty Warcraft boss. Missing such a rare opportunity and coming back empty-handed was extremely frustrating.

“Never mind, I should focus on the task at hand.”

Li Yao took out several bottles of fuel and began throwing them around. Soon, the entire cave filled up with the smell of fuel.

Finally, Li Yao reached the position of the two luminous worm eggs. He attempted to put the eggs into his bag, but they didn’t fit.

“The level difference is indeed too much”, he stated.

Upon saying that, Li Yao pulled out a small bag with a gentle blue glow. As soon as the bag emitted a flash of light, it scooped up the two worm eggs. Li Yao then buckled the bag onto his waist.

He suddenly noticed several egg-sized crystals shining with a grey light under the two worm eggs.

“At least this trip wasn’t entirely fruitless. These high-grade essences of the undead will serve as great offerings and materials.”

Li Yao quickly gathered about a dozen crystals into his bag.

Roar…

Just as he finished collecting the crystals, an enraged roar echoed from within the two dark holes.

“Damn it, they really are high-level monsters. Their reaction was too fast.”

The moment the two worm eggs were taken, the distant monsters felt the loss of their offspring’s presence and immediately started retreating.

Li Yao threw a few bottles of fuel on the ground beneath him and tossed a torch on each side.

At the same time, his figure vanished.

Boom, boom…

The inside of the cave was filled with countless dead branches and leaves, and the bones that had been dry for who knows how many years. Ignited by the fuel, the whole cave was soon engulfed in flames.

The cave even exploded, shaking the entire mountainside.

Shush, shush…

Two massive figures rushed out of the cave. Their eyes glowed like electricity, and their originally blue pupils had turned blood red.

The high temperature from the boundless flames was unbearable, but the two worms seemed to be unaffected, merely letting out a deafening roar.

Without wasting any more time, Li Yao quickly returned to the plaza through the shadows.

As the gryphon creatures had become scarce, everyone in this Prosperous Era had gathered to attack the two gryphon bosses.

The two gryphon bosses were fighting desperately; they hadn’t found their offspring yet, so they couldn’t afford to flee.

Li Yao ignored the ongoing fight against the bosses. Their health was only depleted by half, and it was still too early to kill them.

He directly tore up the mission warrant, and five half gold coins landed in his bag.

“I need to be quick.”

Even though their offspring had no aura within the bag, these high-level bosses had many methods to sense them. The two super bosses were undoubtedly en route.

Although the guild hall was not far from the square, there were hardly any players around. Only a small squad of players was performing regular defenses.

Li Yao was tucked behind a building, two short spears appearing in his hands.

Double Dragon to the Sea!

Two rays of darkness directly immersed the magician and mage they found at the entrance, distracting themselves by observing the battlefield.

Unaware of what was happening, these two fragile characters were instantly killed by Li Yao.

Only when a flash of white light passed did their teammates realize what happened and yelled: “We’re under attack!”

As the Shield Warrior was about to use his body to shield the healer, a black ray of light pierced through them, cutting down the Druid healer.

Only a Shield Warrior and a Paladin remained who then charged towards Li Yao’s position.

Without running away, Li Yao hurled two more short spears. The Paladin didn’t have time to cast his invincibility spell before dying.

“Die!”

The Warrior had already begun to charge at Li Yao. Twisting his body, Li Yao dodged, using a pillar for cover.

Unable to halt his charge, the Warrior collided head-on with the pillar. Li Yao sidestepped and began his attack with a twin-handed spear.

After a swift Dragon Shadow move, the teetering Shield Warrior collapsed.

With his back turned towards the fallen Warrior, Li Yao didn’t bother to look at him. He threw two short spears backwards.

The Shield Warrior, who was just about to stand up, toppled over again as two spears pierced his back.

Tanuki had been closely watching the battlefield all this while, he expressed: “The people from this Prosperous Era truly have great potential. Taking down the two bosses is just a matter of time. And they didn’t forget to keep a watch at the guild hall, they stationed a team there and just in case anything happens, they can delay for a while and get reinforcements. What the…”

At this point, he saw Li Yao appear and effortlessly destroy a small team within seconds.

The audience had been distracted earlier, but many of them witnessed this scene. Without any proper words to describe it, they simply exclaimed in disbelief.

“What kind of monster is this? Isn’t this an elite player from the Prosperous Era? How can they be so weak? This… this…” Tanuki stammered while trying to find the right words: “It’s indeed a place filled with lurking talents.”

The crowd was watching the replay of the video clip, going back a few times. They were puzzled. What was this person doing inside the guild hall? Why is there no movement anymore?

However, just as they had this thought, they felt the ground shaking, followed by a rumbling sound from underground.

The shake was so strong that the players fighting the bosses were thrown off balance, causing a lot of them to fall over…
