Chapter 634 - 634: Escalating Intensity
Chapter 634: Chapter 634: Escalating Intensity
If anyone still thought that this monster siege happened by accident, the explosion made it clear to everyone that it was undeniably calculated in advance.
Every single move was premeditated. It was horrific. This one-two punch had completely left the players of the Prosperous Era Guild stupefied.
Already suffered massive losses, they desperately gathered a formation and used the rarest materials to activate the altar, thinking victory was within grasps and Prosperous Era’s reputation would be proven, but then, this sudden catastrophe occurred.
So ruthless, even the Beast Speaker was caught off guard.
But just because they didn’t react doesn’t mean the beasts didn’t. The griffin, infuriated by the assault on their young, rampaged once more, atrociously hunting the bastards who dared to harm their offspring.
Immediately followed by the rising of blinding lights again –– it was only when countless perplexed spirits gathered around the graveyard did the Beast Speaker finally snap out of his shock.
He bellowed furiously, shouting, “Reorganize the formations, MT, bear the hate-agro, protect the healers and the fragile ones from getting hit.”
As he spoke, he quickly rushed towards his corpse. He had to revive as quickly as possible. He needed to take the reins in order to change the situation.
“No matter who you are, don’t let me find you, or I swear I will never rest till you’re finished!” The guild master of the Prosperous Era growled angrily into the night sky.
Meanwhile, Li Yao merely let out a bored belch. The griffins were still attacking like crazy.
“This time, they’ve really got themselves into big trouble. After this crisis, it’ll greatly deplete the Prosperous Era Guild.” Tanuki sighed, “Although, they do have the chance to make up for it. Whether or not they can seize it is the real question.”
“What chance, Tanuki, stop making us guess.”
“Right, even if the Prosperous Era guild falls this time, they still have a chance to venture it out?”
“As far as I know, after such complete destruction of the altar, even if it’s repaired, spirit would have left the altar and deemed it as Jaunk, is this loss not huge in itself?”
“Exactly, very few guilds even have an altar. An altar is just too overpowered, in the future it will be too hard to break the guild’s stronghold.”
“Yup, to my knowledge, altar quests are incredibly difficult; this kind of loss is hard to recover.”
The audience was expressing their thoughts animatedly, everyone seemed to enjoy the spectacle, conveying a sense of schadenfreude.
If other guilds’ players felt this way, then why would the little guilds with no clout and the freelance players, who had no say in affairs, think differently? They couldn’t wait to see these large guilds eat humble pie.
“You all are seriously underestimating the depth and reserves of a top-tier guild. The loss in levels can be compensated. Don’t forget, during the treasure hunt just a few days ago, so many guilds died countless times, but after they killed one Warcraft boss their levels skyrocketed by two or three levels, and here there are two such beasts. If the timing is good, their levels might even reach higher than before.” Tanuki casually pointed out.
Everyone suddenly had a little clarity.
Tanuki continued, “As for the altar, as long as they catch up on levels, with a large number of Prosperous Era’s top-notch players, they can just build a new altar. At the moment, not many guilds even dare to wage a guild war. This blow has not taken much of a toll on them.”
However, she left some thoughts unsaid; she didn’t want to offend the Prosperous Era Guild.
What she thought was, since the mastermind behind the scene managed to calculate an attack to this extent, would they let them easily kill the boss? The answer surely would be no. She was also curious to know how far the minds behind this scheme were willing to go.
“It’s not yet the time to execute the next step of the plan. We need to bring everyone’s level down to 20 first, but that will only happen after a few hours. We can’t waste this bunch of Warcraft’s experience.”
Li Yao, fully satisfied from the meal, was bored of watching the spectacle, and jumped into the fray.
“I would like to undertake the mission as well.”
Li Yao directly spoke out to a leading player in the Prosperous Era guild. The group leader, too busy to attend to anything else, had given him a mission scroll right away.
The mission offered to Li Yao, who was at only 24 level, would provide him with a basic reward of one Gold Coin, with additional ones depending on the number of monsters he killed.
Though seemed very attractive at first, was actually not worth the effort. For ordinary players, the income from the Gold Coins was not comparable to the loss they would incur.
Currently, trapped as they were, many freelance players reluctantly joined the fight, while several lifestyle players took the opportunity to log out.
But even that wasn’t safe. If the defence failed and the inn was destroyed, they would die even if they logged out in the inn.
Nevertheless, Li Yao accepted the mission, put it straight into his backpack, and then with a flash, slipped into an alley.
The alley was deserted, and any solo player fighting there would be suicidal.
Li Yao looked up at the sky, processing a surge of calculations in his brain.
His hand gripping the short spear, he threw it with all his might. The spear, veiled with a gloomy light, felt like it was flashing with lightning.
A griffin swooped down and fiercely crashed onto a construction site. The building started to shake and its integrity began to decrease.
The griffin flapped its wings, attempting to take off when a dark speck shot into its arm –– a part covered with sparse feathers and an inherently weak area at the inside of the wing.
As the spear pierced its flesh, the griffin screeched in torment, and before it could take off, it already started rolling and plummeted towards the ground.
BOOM…
The griffin’s enormous body landed in the alley, its massive physique finding itself stuck in the narrow space between two buildings. It struggled frantically, but had no room to spread its wings and escape.
Its huge form and incredible weight, thanks to the huge momentum, had made it lodged in the alley, making its escape extremely difficult.
Li Yao slowly materialized with the short spear in his hand, and plunged the spear after spear into the griffin’s critical weak-point.
In Li Yao’s perspective, being large in size had its advantages; larger creatures were immensely powerful and had high attack points.
But under certain circumstances, advantages could turn into disadvantages, just like now, the griffin stuck in this alleyway at Li Yao’s disposal.
After ten spears, the griffin unbelievably fell. Li Yao immediately gathered its materials. The materials of a Warcraft creature were incredibly precious, if combined with a blueprint, a rare Magic Attribute Set could be created. Although the quality would remain the same, the properties and characteristics would far surpass the normal equipment of the same quality.
Moreover, some materials were also critical to secondary professions like alchemy, Li Yao, despite being rich, could not afford to let these resources go wasted.
“Although it’s nearly the same as before, but the efficiency is way off.”
Not being one to settle for less, Li Yao was kind of dissatisfied with the efficiency. After all, he could kill an ogre in three shots with a sniper rifle, but now, much more time was wasted compared to before.
Only Li Yao could afford to relax in this kind of situation, while others were fighting for their lives. If others saw how easy it was for him, they’d inevitably vomit blood out of frustration.
But he had no other choice at this points, so Li Yao adapted to level up.
Compared to the frantic fighting outside, Li Yao’s situation was much more comfortable, although the Prosperous Era had lost its advantage, but they all had dropped at least one level, the unfortunate ones more than two levels.
Yet, Li Yao was still dissatisfied. Unless they all dropped their levels to 20, he wouldn’t proceed to the final step of his plan…
