Chapter 107 Verdant Fall Luminous Shadow Sword
Faint footsteps echoed in the dim underground, a line of people walked through the gradually abandoned passage, the ground already accumulated with plenty of dust and debris.
"It's completely different from the last time," the girl thought silently, then she lightly waved her arm, a stream of pale blue Fireballs scattered around, illuminating the entire underground like a cluster of stars.
Shuttered shops could be seen everywhere, once bustling snack stalls, streets filled with throngs of tourists, stages with incessant music—now all eerily empty, as if a hundred years had passed.
"Is there no one here?" Ximu held up his rifle, its flashlight sweeping around.
"There should be people, but their living area is probably not here," Tilan shook her head, moving forward in the direction she remembered.
An hour later, the group finally arrived at the entrance to the underground residential area, where they encountered Gang members standing guard.
"Who are you? How did you get here?" They watched warily at the group of youngsters approaching, their eyes sweeping over them.
Although Ximu and Kinsenke had guns in their hands, the others did not, and the leading girls, Tilan and Efnie, looked very young, which slightly reassured the guards; this group did not seem to be desperados but had more of a scholarly air.
"Are you here for an adventure, for fun? This is not a place for you to be," the lead man with scars at the corner of his eyes lingered his gaze on Efnie for a long time but ultimately restrained himself—after all, the girl had several Fireballs floating around her, suggesting she might be a powerful Transcendent.
"We are indeed here for an adventure, could you gentlemen please let us pass? Ruby would be very grateful to everyone," the idol girl with purple-red hair jumped out from behind, finally drawing the guards' full attention.
"What a beautiful girl, but we are here on a mission," the man in front shook his head, while his subordinates behind him greedily ogled Ruby and Efnie.
"Ah, really? Can't you make an exception?" Ruby wore a pitiable expression, as if she was about to cry.
"This..." the lead guard seemed swayed, but remembering his subordinates were watching, he couldn't lose face and refused again.
"No."
"Boss, don't be polite with them, I find these girls very suspicious. We should just catch them, hehehe," laughing, he and the men around him chuckled. Enjoy new tales from My Virtual Library Empire
"Uh, well, seems like Ruby can't persuade you gentlemen," Ruby said, pressing her hand to her chest and closing her eyes. But then she suddenly opened them again, her eyes blazing with a beautiful purple-red color, within which symbols seemed to be condensing.
"Everyone, does Ruby's voice sound nice?" She smiled with her hands pressed together, addressing the men in front of her.
"...Nice, very nice," the men in front started to blank out, nodding uncontrollably.
"Then would you like to become Ruby's most loyal fans?"
"Yes, we want to be," the men replied faster and faster, a manic look in their eyes.
"Thank you, everyone! It's wonderful to have fans like you," Ruby clapped her hands joyfully, then she asked the men again.
"Now then, Ruby is a bit scared, could you please lead the way and protect Ruby?"
"Yes, we will protect you, lead the way for you."
"How wonderful~ All of you are so, so good~" Ruby's face lit up with a joyful smile, she lifted her skirt slightly, curtsying, and then had the men lead the way for her.
The group started moving forward once again, but this time, there was quiet discussion among the few people in the back.
"Ruby must be a succubus, with that kind of charm ability," one whispered.
"Cough cough, such charm ability is indeed surprising, but before Ruby mentioned it only works on those with Sequences 1-2," another said.
"Luckily, having such a girl around is a bit scary when you think about it."
"Don't say that, Ruby only revealed her Talent because she considers us friends. Otherwise, who would expose an Ability that makes others afraid for no reason?"
The people at the back quietly conversed, while at the front, Deloris walked shoulder to shoulder with Ruby, discussing the recent events.
"Why did you suddenly decide to use that ability today?"
"Because I've been holding back for so long, Deloris~ You know, it's like being a master who has finally developed some strength but has nowhere to show it off. It's very frustrating."
"Usually I have to maintain a sweet and harmless persona to get everyone's approval, even though there are special fans who like my wild and Queen persona, but they are few after all," Ruby said, presenting herself as rather pitiful in the hopes of gaining more support from her good friend in the future.
"You, this is also a real side of you, isn't it?" Deloris shook her head, and then her face broke into a smile.
After talking, Deloris directed her gaze towards the front, where the black-haired girl Tilan was walking; she wondered when she would get to see Tilan's dominant Queen side. However, the boys had said Tilan's portrayal of a Gang boss's daughter was very convincing, but as she hadn't seen it for herself, she still had her doubts.
Eventually, the group made its way deeper underground, emerging from a large sloping passage to behold a vast underground residential area in the distance, and at the end of their field of vision, an ancient city appeared.
"It's still the same as before," Tilan thought, but this time she didn't intend to continue hiding as time was of the essence.
Her form leapt up towards the dome above, and then she raised her hands—countless particles of Magic Power appeared in the pitch darkness, converging towards her.
