Chapter 100: Izuku x Ochako (fluff)

The crisp February air nipped at Izuku's cheeks, a stark contrast to the nervous flutter in his stomach. Today was Valentine's Day, his first with Ochako, and the pressure to make it perfect felt immense, like a physical weight pressing down on his chest. He clutched the small, heart-shaped box of mochi she loved, the paper slightly crinkled from his fidgeting. Last fall, they'd finally confessed their feelings amidst the chaos of hero training, a whirlwind of blushing smiles and shared dreams. Now, here he was, ready to embark on his meticulously planned celebration.

He spotted Ochako across the bustling street, her face glowing despite the chilly weather. Her cheeks were rosy, and her signature hair seemed to bounce with anticipation. His heart did a little flip, and the nervousness morphed into giddy excitement. He waved, a wide, genuine smile stretching across his face.

"Izuku!" she chirped, crossing the street with a bounce in her step. "Happy Valentine's Day!"

"Happy Valentine's Day, Ochako!" He presented the mochi, his smile only widening when she gasped and took the box with a delighted giggle.

"You remembered! These are my favorite!" She pecked him on the cheek, the light touch sending a jolt of electricity through him. His carefully constructed plan was already off to a good start.

Their first stop was Sugoi Sweets, a local bakery where Ochako had a well-documented obsession with their strawberry shortcake. He watched her with a soft smile as she devoured a slice, her cheeks dusted with powdered sugar. The pure, unfettered joy on her face filled him with a warmth that chased away the residual nervousness. They chatted easily, reminiscing about their early days as classmates, sharing lighthearted jokes, and simply enjoying the comfortable silence between them.

Afterwards, they strolled through the park, the bare branches of the trees creating intricate patterns against the clear blue sky. Izuku led her towards the koi pond, a place they'd often visited together during their training. He'd secreted away a bag of fish food, and they spent a few peaceful minutes tossing pieces to the brightly colored fish, watching them jostle and dart in the clear water. The mundane activity felt infused with magic, their hands brushing as they shared the bag, a small spark igniting between them.

"This is...really nice, Izuku," Ochako murmured, her eyes reflecting the blue of the sky. "Thank you."

He felt his heart swell with contentment. "It's nothing, Ochako. I just wanted to do things… things you enjoy."

He'd planned the rest of their outing with equal care. They explored a quirky little antique shop filled with oddities and forgotten treasures, Ochako's laughter echoing through the narrow aisles as they unearthed peculiar trinkets. Then, they visited the local bookstore, where they browsed through shelves of colorful covers, their conversations shifting from personal anecdotes to the fascinating worlds contained within the pages. Izuku had even managed to discreetly pick up a first-edition of a classic romance novel that she'd mentioned wanting, his heart pounding with the hope of surprising her later.

The sun began to dip below the horizon, casting long shadows across the city. Izuku led her towards a small, quiet Italian restaurant, a place she'd gushed about after spotting it on a previous outing. He'd even made a reservation, a testament to his meticulous planning. The restaurant, bathed in soft golden light, was filled with the subtle aroma of garlic and herbs. They shared pasta, their fingers occasionally brushing as they reached for the same breadstick.

"This is… perfect, Izuku," Ochako said, her eyes sparkling as she took a sip of her water. "I mean, not 'perfect' perfect, but, well… I don't think I could have asked for a better Valentine's Day."

He felt a wave of relief wash over him. "I'm glad," he said, his voice thick with emotion. "I really wanted to do something special for you, for us."

After dinner, they walked hand-in-hand towards his apartment, the city lights twinkling around them like scattered diamonds. His heart beat a nervous tattoo against his ribs as he considered the final stage of his plan – a quiet, romantic movie night at home. He'd dimmed the lights, strewn a comfy blanket across the couch, and prepped a selection of her favorite snacks, including her favorite herbal tea.

When they stepped inside, Ochako's eyes widened in surprise. "Wow," she whispered, her gaze sweeping over the softly lit room. "This is… really thoughtful."

He blushed, his hand instinctively reaching to rub the back of his neck. "I just wanted to create a cozy atmosphere," he mumbled, feeling slightly self-conscious after all his planning. He pulled out the book he'd bought earlier, presenting it to her with a hopeful smile. "And... I saw you looking at this once, so I thought..."

Ochako gasped, her eyes going wide with surprise as she took the book. She turned the pages slowly, her fingers tracing the cover with reverence. "Izuku... I... this is amazing."

She wrapped her arms around him, squeezing him tightly. "Thank you," she whispered, her voice thick with emotion. "For everything."

They settled onto the couch, wrapped in the soft blanket, a comfortable silence settling between them. Izuku carefully selected a romantic comedy from his streaming service, the gentle sounds of the movie filling the room. He took her hand, his fingers intertwining with hers, a warmth spreading through him that had nothing to do with the blanket.

As they watched the movie, he could sense that the meticulously planned details, the grand gestures, hadn't created the feeling of perfection. The true magic of the day wasn't in the grand plan, but in the shared laughter, the comfortable silences, the small touches, and the quiet moments of connection. The true magic was in spending time with her.

"You know," Ochako murmured, her eyes fixed on the screen, "it doesn't matter what we do, as long as we're together."

Izuku looked at her, her face illuminated by the soft glow of the television, and his heart swelled with love and gratitude. She was right. It was in these moments, these simple, imperfect moments, that their love truly blossomed. "I love you, Ochako," he whispered, the words feeling more real than ever before.

She turned, a soft, tender smile gracing her lips. "I love you too, Izuku."

The movie continued to play, but their attention was no longer on the screen. Their intertwined hands, the soft warmth of their bodies nestled close together, the shared smiles – these were the things that truly mattered. And in that moment, surrounded by the quiet comfort of his apartment, Izuku knew, with absolute certainty, that everything was indeed, perfect, just as it was. His first Valentine's Day with Ochako was not just a success; it was a memory he would cherish forever.
