Chapter 11: Chap10: Duels

The last group stood at the starting line, their eyes locked on the course ahead. Gang Orca raised his hand, signaling the start of the final race.

"Three… two… one… GO!"

The six competitors launched forward, each utilizing their Quirks to overcome the obstacles as efficiently as possible.

Gang Orca observed the results in silence before speaking.

"With that, the races are complete. Now, we move on to the next phase: the duels."

The class fell silent. Even those who had performed well in the races now felt the tension rising.

Gang Orca continued, his tone sharp.

He scanned the class before making the first match announcement.

"First duel: Daichi versus Hanabira."

Daichi stepped forward kinda confidently, rolling his shoulders as he exhaled. His smirk was unmistakable.

Hanabira walked forward with a calm expression.

Gang Orca raised his hand.

"Begin!"

Daichi inhaled sharply, activating his Quirk. With a powerful breath, he unleashed a small, concentrated tornado, sending it directly toward Hanabira.

The attack should have been overwhelming for someone like him. However, instead of dodging, Hanabira simply lifted his hand. Flower petals materialized in the air, swirling gently before drifting into the wind.

Daichi frowned.

"What? That's all?"

Hanabira didn't respond. Instead, he flicked his fingers, and suddenly, a green mist spread through the air.

Daichi took an instinctive step back.

"Wait… spores?"

A sudden itching sensation crawled down his throat, followed by a dry cough. His breathing became slightly heavier as he realized what was happening.

Hanabira's lips curled into a faint smile.

"Did you think flowers were harmless?"

Daichi gritted his teeth. He summoned another gust of wind, this time surrounding himself in a little tornado, dispersing the spores.

For a moment, he thought he had neutralized the effect.

But Hanabira was already moving. Large flowers sprouted from the ground, releasing even more spores into the air.

Daichi's eyes widened. 'If I keep blowing them away, he'll just produce more…'

"Damn it, this is annoying" He muttered before launching himself into the air with a powerful wind burst.

Hanabira reacted instantly.

Daichi spun in the air, dodging just in time and landing hard on the ground. But the second he touched down—

His vision blurred.

His breathing became uneven, his limbs feeling slightly sluggish.

Hanabira tilted his head.

"You're still breathing, aren't you? The spores have already started affecting you."

Daichi's fists clenched. 'I've been inhaling them this whole time…'

Hanabira took a step forward, his voice calm.

"If you keep moving too fast, the effect will only worsen."

Daichi's confidence wavered for the first time. He could feel his reaction time slowing, his body growing heavier.

Gang Orca observed for a few seconds before raising his hand.

"Enough."

Daichi turned to him, surprised.

Gang Orca's expression remained unreadable.

"Winner: Hanabira."

A hushed silence fell over the students.

Daichi stood frozen for a moment, unable to process what had just happened.

Hanabira turned, walking away without another word.

Daichi swallowed hard, his pride stinging.

As the dust from the first duel settled Gang Orca looked over the class

"Next duel" He announced, his voice unwavering.

"Akasuki Kama versus Daisuke Ryota."

Akasuki stepped forward, her expression focused. Her hands flexed subtly. Opposite her, Daisuke approached with a calm determination.

Gang Orca's gaze flicked between them.

"Begin"

Akasuki wasted no time, dropping to one knee and pressing her palms against the ground. Immediately, her hands took on the rough, earthen texture of the training field, becoming hard as stone.

Daisuke smirked, then in a blink, shrunk down to the size of a small bird. His small form zipped across the ground, making him a difficult target.

"Come on, Daisuke" Akasuki called out, her voice steady. "Hiding won't help you win."

Daisuke's tiny voice echoed up from the ground. "Who said I'm hiding?"

He launched himself toward Akasuki, his miniature fists packing a surprising punch as he aimed for her ankles.

Akasuki reacted instantly, slamming her stone-coated hand into the ground, sending shards of rock flying in all directions.

Daisuke narrowly dodged, his small size allowing him to weave through the debris with ease.

Realizing the ground wasn't working, Akasuki ran her hands over a nearby metal barrier, transforming her fists into gleaming steel.

"Let's see you handle this," she muttered.

With a swift swing, she pounded the ground, creating a small shockwave that disrupted Daisuke's footing. As he stumbled, she used her metal-enhanced strength to rip a chunk of the barrier and hurl it in his direction.

Daisuke reverted to his normal size mid-air, catching the thrown metal with both hands and redirecting it back at Akasuki with a grunt of effort.

Akasuki blocked the attack with her steel hands, the force of impact sparking loudly.

Daisuke grinned, his eyes narrowing.

"You're strong, but how about this?"

He shrunk down again, darting behind her before returning to full size in a split second, delivering a powerful kick to her back.

Akasuki staggered forward but regained her balance. "Not bad" She admitted, her voice steady.

Quickly thinking, she pressed her hand against a nearby wooden post, her skin taking on a rugged, bark-like texture.

Daisuke lunged again, but this time, Akasuki's wooden fists absorbed the blow, her natural armor softening the impact.

"Wood or steel, it won't matter" Daisuke taunted, shrinking once more to slip through her defenses.

But Akasuki was prepared. She reached down, grabbing a handful of gravel, her fingers morphing into a cluster of sharp, stone-like spikes. As Daisuke charged, she scattered the gravel, creating a makeshift barrier of jagged stone that forced him to retreat.

Daisuke paused, his breathing slightly heavier, his eyes calculating.

"You can adapt, but every material has its limit" he said, shrinking again to avoid another swing of Akasuki's transformed fists.

But this time, Akasuki anticipated his move, slamming her stone-encrusted palm onto the ground. The small shockwave sent a ripple through the earth, disrupting Daisuke's balance as he skidded backward.

Seizing the opportunity, Akasuki lunged forward, her fists morphing back into hardened steel. With a swift, hammer-like punch, she struck the ground where Daisuke had landed, forcing him to dodge clumsily.

He reverted to his normal size to maintain control but left himself open. Akasuki didn't hesitate—she swung again, her metal fist connecting with his shoulder, sending him sprawling.

Gang Orca stepped in, raising his hand to halt the fight.

"Enough"

The two combatants froze, panting from exertion.

"Winner: Akasuki Kama."

Daisuke slowly stood, rubbing his shoulder but managing a small, respectful nod toward Akasuki. "You got me this time."

Gang Orca glanced at the rest of the students. "As for you, the members of the first group, you are all sent to a general course, I have not seen anything positive either for the first or the last."

The students of group one all have blank looks. 'Hard for them.'

The intensity of the day left a lingering tension in the air, members of the other two groups looked at each other and understood one thing.

Each student silently vowing to push themselves harder.

Because in Class 1-A, there was no room for weakness.
