Mech Wars The Rise of the Hero in Exile

Chapter 13: Chapter 13

Similarly, space mechas are also not suitable for air combat within the planet's atmosphere. They are even heavier than land—combat mechas. In zero-gravity space, such machines are acceptable, but in the atmosphere, they are definitely easy prey.

The fat guy secretly curled his lips. Unfortunately, this action didn't escape Milan's eyes. She grabbed the fat guy's ear and said angrily, "This is the most advanced mecha in our laboratory, you dead fatso. You've seen nothing. How dare you look down on it?!"

Over the past few weeks, this seemingly gentle, innocent, and harmless beauty had bullied the fat guy more than anyone else. So, this grab and twist of her hand was really quick and decisive.

Tian Kaiwen yelped in pain, and the pained expression on his face was so heart-rending that it would make anyone feel teary-eyed.

Milan had long seen through the fat guy's tricks. She twisted his ear hard again before letting go, saying resentfully, "Come here! I'll show you what a real transforming mecha is!"

She pressed the automatic remote control device in her hand, and the cockpit cover of the mecha popped up. She climbed into the cockpit along the mechanical legs. Just before the cockpit door closed, she glared at the fat guy and said, "Country bumpkin, watch carefully."

With Milan's operation, the fat guy was truly shocked this time. The outer armor of the mecha disintegrated into small, thin pieces as if by magic, then quickly shrank together like a compressed sponge and vanished into a square hole on the back of the mecha.

Then, the mecha began to change. The first transformation was its color: a strange, flowing light flashed, and the mecha's entire body turned black. Following this, the limbs and head rapidly folded in towards the body, initiating an overall transformation. This transformation was like melted cheese, and just a few seconds later, the cheese solidified into a black stone with intricate and realistic patterns resembling a meteorite.

"Life's impossible!" the fat guy gasped in his heart. "Liquid metal!!!"

"Keep watching!" Milan's voice came from the mecha's electronic amplifier.

With a "snap," the mecha almost instantly popped out its limbs and returned to its original form. At the same time, the outer, hanging armor also popped out from the square hole and quickly covered the whole body.

The fat guy felt a bit overwhelmed.

"My God! Liquid metal with memory properties! Using it for this... This woman is crazy!"

Subsequently, the mecha simulated the forms of a land-based air-combat fighter, a space-combat fighter, a small transport ship, and an all-terrain universal land-combat mecha, respectively.

Milan jumped off the mecha and asked triumphantly, "So! Try curling your lips again."

Tian Kaiwen was left speechless. After a long while, with a silly expression on his face, the rascal asked, "This toy must be quite valuable, right? How much can it be sold for?"

Milan was almost driven mad. She said viciously, "Toy? You go and try it yourself and see if it's a toy!"

Based on what the fat guy had learned in mecha design, metallurgy, and physics, this thing really seemed like a toy. Liquid metal sounded great, but in fact, this kind of metal that could change its shape at will had a problem—it was soft!

This kind of shape-changing metal had been discovered thousands of years ago. Although this metal, which could be transformed in a short time by controlling a special resonance frequency through a computer, had both liquid and solid states, its hardness could never be increased. If it was made into an alloy to increase hardness, its liquefaction would be incomplete, and the conversion time would be prolonged. A liquid-metal alloy with a hardness level equivalent to that of steel would probably take a week for its liquid-solid conversion. Therefore, apart from some special uses, this rare metal was seldom used in the military.

What was the use of a weak and flimsy thing, no matter how many forms it could take? In the fat guy's eyes, this mecha was probably no better than his privately - collected high - simulation rubber doll from ancient Earth. The hardness of these metals simply couldn't meet the needs of combat! Moreover, this kind of metal was usually very heavy. Just like gold, pure gold was a relatively soft metal, and liquid metal was not only heavier and softer than gold but also more expensive.

However, very soon, the fat guy realized that the thing in front of him was definitely not a toy but a lethal weapon. A lethal weapon that could be regarded as the greatest invention in the history of mechas in the past hundred years!

Milan put a piece of the same metal as the mecha into a metal measuring instrument. The exaggerated indicators made the fat guy suspect that there was something wrong with the machine for a moment! The hardness of this thing was six times higher than that of the currently known super-hard alloy, while its weight was the same as that of the lightest ultra-light alloy. More importantly, the unique ductility of liquid metal made the comprehensive defense ability of this metal expand infinitely!

That wasn't all! The most astonishing thing was that this super - alloy actually had the properties of memory metal! The person who invented this metal was definitely a genius among geniuses! This was simply a miracle that only a god could create!

"Alright, I admit, this thing is not a toy!" The fat guy was completely defeated. Facing this mecha that absolutely dominated the current technological peak, even the most shameless person couldn't deny it. After all, facts were facts.

Looking at Milan, who had a smug smile on her face, the fat guy, unable to control himself, made the same mistake again. "Where did you steal this mecha from?"
