Marvel: Umbrella Corporation

Chapter 124: The Situation Develops

In the Umbrella Tower in New York~

Adam had just left the lab and returned to his office when he immediately received news about Lorna's Mutant Declaration of Independence and the killing of the Eclipse.

"She finally made her decision."

In truth, Adam hadn't done anything to manipulate Lorna—no hypnosis or mental control.

That night, he merely guided her to confront her inner desires, to understand what she truly wanted and what she intended to pursue.

To support this, he had secretly dispatched Raven to assist her.

However, he hadn't expected Lorna's personality to take such an extreme turn.

But recalling the storyline he had seen in his previous life, Adam thought, perhaps this was Lorna's true nature.

Otherwise, she wouldn't have repeatedly returned to her starting point after each rebellion.

"Red Queen, release some of the frozen mutants in Baghdad to assist Lorna."

The mutants Adam had captured previously, those who refused to cooperate, were all kept in cryostasis. Their genetic material was occasionally extracted for research purposes.

This method avoided the risks of releasing hostile mutants who might cause trouble for him later.

He had no intention of being a naïve altruist, releasing threats to his own safety.

"Yes, Master," the Red Queen replied.

Just as Adam picked up a document to review, the Red Queen's voice chimed in again.

"Master, a report just came in from the prison—Norman has disappeared."

"Oh, that old fox still had a trick up his sleeve?"

Although Adam had thwarted Norman's initial transformation into the Green Goblin through intelligence manipulations, he knew there was always a possibility of Norman finding another way.

"Leave it be. It might be good for the heroes to gain some experience.

Red Queen, how's the acquisition of Oscorp shares going?"

"Master, so far, 2.7% of Oscorp's shares have been acquired."

"Not bad. Keep it up."

Oscorp wasn't a small company, nor was it in turmoil like Stark Industries during its exit from weapons manufacturing.

Though Oscorp had been overshadowed by Umbrella Corporation in recent years, it still boasted a market value in the hundreds of billions.

For the Red Queen to acquire even this amount of shares within a year was quite impressive.

"How about the satellite launches for Starship?"

"Without breakthroughs in new technology, it's still one rocket every ten days, with a cost of twenty million per launch."

"Have Luna come over. It's time for these satellites to start making money."

Ten minutes later, Luna hurried into the office.

After a brief discussion, they decided to establish Umbrella Satellite Company to provide satellite communication, navigation, and imaging services.

Of course, the public versions of these services would lack the priority and precision of their internal counterparts.

They also discussed several other business strategies, such as increasing the acquisition of Oscorp shares, accelerating the development of new pharmaceuticals, maintaining military collaborations, and expediting the development of Sentinel robots.

Since Umbrella Corporation wasn't a publicly listed company, decisions could be made much faster, which greatly improved efficiency.

For less critical matters, Adam instructed Luna to propose them in the subsidiary companies' board meetings.

Although Umbrella Corporation itself was private, many of its subsidiaries were publicly traded companies, including Umbrella Biomedicine, Umbrella Pharmaceuticals, Umbrella Military Industries, Umbrella New Energy, and Umbrella Starship Company.

The main corporation functioned more like a research institute, focusing on technological advancements and new innovations.

"Boss, the hotel and commercial city projects in Raccoon City have exceeded a hundred billion in value. Should we consider going public for financing?"

Adam knew that monopolizing everything wasn't a sustainable strategy.

"Go public. Accelerate our control over Raccoon City, but ensure the financing doesn't exceed 40% of the shares."

"Understood."

With the major strategies set, Luna left to carry out her tasks, while Adam immersed himself in his research once more.

........

As time passed, significant global events began to unfold.

[October 9th] Ten days after capturing the mutated zombies, Baghdad fell. With the help of new mutants and Adam's secret support, Lorna managed to restore order to the city and announced the establishment of a mutant nation—the Brotherhood Nation.

Most countries voiced their opposition, but the ongoing zombie crisis limited their actions to verbal protests.

[October 11th] The Mutant Registration Act was revised to the Supernatural Registration Act, requiring all individuals with powers to register.

[October 13th] Several top executives of Oscorp were killed in a meeting by the supervillain Green Goblin.

[October 14th] Norman Osborn turned himself in for escaping prison and was released on bail the same day.

[October 15th] Oscorp's stock plummeted to below $30 per share, halving its value from the year's peak.

That same day, Umbrella Corporation announced a new AIDS treatment that temporarily restores immune cell functionality, causing a surge in its pharmaceutical division's stock.

[October 16th] Following the AIDS drug announcement, Oscorp's stock dropped further to $25 per share, despite mysterious funds stabilizing the market.

[October 21st] S.H.I.E.L.D. announced the capture of three spies, who were found dead in their cells later that day. Maria Hill faced significant criticism and overhauled the organization's leadership.

[October 25th] Hammer Industries joined the Sentinel Project, focusing on anti-mutant robotics, leading to a rise in its stock.

[December 3rd] Life Foundation announced its acquisition of Blue Origin, a rocket launch company, and a partnership with Umbrella Starship Company to develop reusable rocket technology with a $3 billion investment.

[December 11th] Umbrella Corporation revealed a cure for the Rift Zombie virus, causing another surge in its pharmaceutical division's stock.

That same day, Pioneer Technologies claimed to have developed its own cure, sparking rumors about Oscorp's dwindling research capabilities and further tanking its stock.

[December 21st] The International Health Organization declared the zombie virus under control in Iraq, prompting the United Nations to debate the 'Mutant Brotherhood' issue.

However, due to a lack of consensus among the five major powers, no resolution was reached.
