Marvel : I'm in Westview Town

Chapter 8: Chapter 8 : The CIA Takes Up the Case

Next Morning

The sky is reddish, and the horizon is painted white. The yellow leaves of the autumn trees rustle in the wind, and the people of Westview Town start a new day with the sunrise.

But today's atmosphere is obviously more serious than before...

Boom! Boom! Boom!

Finn had a regular schedule. He got up early, but someone knocked on the door quite insistently this morning.

It was Wanda who came, and she brought two men in suits and leather shoes who claimed to be CIA agents investigating the murder.

"Finn, please explain to them. The two of us came back together last night, and we didn't go anywhere on the way," Wanda spoke first.

"Sorry, Wanda, please allow me to ask the questions," one of the agents interrupted Wanda.

Then, looking at Finn, he said in a deep voice, "Mr. Finn, there were many casualties in the East Warehouse, and their people had a conflict with you yesterday."

"Is it those little bastards?" Finn was slightly taken aback.

He understood that the agent in front of him, who claimed to be from the CIA, was here to investigate the case of the gang's destruction last night. Whether or not the two individuals were truly CIA agents was up for debate.

However, the two now suspected Wanda of being responsible for the deaths of those gang members because she was the only one in Westview Town known to have such a peculiar ability.

A way to kill without leaving a trace.

According to the accounts of the two agents, the police had investigated the scene all night and found no clues, even after restoring it through professional technology.

The conclusion was clear: these were all sudden and unexplained deaths.

Obviously caused by some kind of supernatural power.

"Wanda was with me last night. She didn't go anywhere," Finn stated truthfully but carefully.

After all, it was he who killed those men, but neither the CIA nor S.W.O.R.D. could possibly suspect him.

"Mr. Finn, you are responsible for what you say," the CIA agent stared at Finn intently, studying his expression for any sign of a lie.

However, Finn's face betrayed no deception.

The agent exchanged a glance with his companion before continuing, "Wanda, we'd like you to come and look at the scene. As an Avenger, you have a responsibility to help with this task."

"No problem, but he's coming too," Wanda pointed to Finn, asking for his company. She simply didn't want to handle the situation alone.

Finn was visibly surprised at her request.

"No problem," the CIA agent hesitated briefly but nodded in agreement.

Anyway, the crime scene had already attracted a large crowd of reporters.

Even though the area was cordoned off, many photos had already circulated online.

It wouldn't hurt to have one more person like Finn present.

---

Not long after, the CIA agents drove both Finn and Wanda to the Warehouse.

The area was surrounded by police tape, with officers patrolling the perimeter.

After showing their credentials, the agents led Finn and Wanda into the crime scene.

"Without any clues, it's a perfect crime," Detective Inspector Gordon from the police department explained as he joined them.

The CIA agents observed Wanda and Finn closely, analyzing their reactions to the scene.

One of the agents then turned to Wanda, "Did you see anything?"

"I didn't feel anything. He hid it too well. Where's the body?" Wanda asked.

"Wanda, you seem to be on the right track," Finn said with a slight smile, watching her serious expression.

It seemed to him that engaging in such tasks helped Wanda distract herself from her inner turmoil.

"I just want to do my best," Wanda replied.

Though she was resistant to participating in any action now, seeing such a brutal crime in the town where she planned to live with her family made her determined to take this seriously.

"Some of the bodies haven't been transported yet. They're in the police car outside," Inspector Gordon responded.

Without further delay, they walked to the transport vehicle parked nearby.

The door was open, and a white cloth was lifted, revealing a pale corpse.

There were no visible wounds on the body.

"The forensic doctor dissected two of the remains and found no signs of disease. They were both in good health—comparable to athletes," Detective Gordon commented with a mix of awe and confusion. "Even the surrounding surveillance found no abnormalities."

"Perhaps a supernatural event," Finn added, glancing at the CIA agent.

The CIA agent ignored Finn's remark, turning instead to Wanda. "What did you see?"

"Nothing. They look like normal deaths..." Wanda shook her head.

She truly hadn't seen anything. There wasn't any trace of dark matter or other energy at the scene or in the bodies.

If there had been, she would've sensed it. Even the souls of the deceased gave no reaction.

The two CIA agents exchanged glances.

One of them spoke slowly, "Sorry to trouble you both. You can leave now. By the way, Detective Gordon, this is a poisoning incident, do you understand?"

"Understood," Inspector Gordon nodded without hesitation.

It was his first encounter with a potential supernatural case, and he knew such things couldn't be revealed to the public.

---

Soon after, everyone left the scene. The police completely sealed off the Warehouse and restricted access to surrounding roads.

However, with such a gruesome crime, it was unlikely anyone would dare pass through anyway.

Within hours, the East Warehouse was silent except for the officers standing guard outside.

---

Unknown to anyone, a rabbit hopped out from the corner of the otherwise empty Warehouse.

The next second, the rabbit exhaled a black mist, which began to take shape.

The mist coalesced into a woman.

"Poison?"

She surveyed her surroundings, taking a deep breath before sneering. "Oh, I'm afraid this is the handiwork of some necromancer!"

If Finn were present, he'd instantly recognize this woman as Agatha Harkness.

Unlike Wanda, Agatha was well-versed in spells and had studied countless tomes of magic.

She instantly realized this was the work of a necromancer.

But...

"Damn it, I can't feel where you are..."

Agatha muttered in frustration. She could sense mana but nothing more.

Whoever had done this had magic that surpassed hers!

"Why are you here? Wanda? Chaos Magic?"

Agatha's expression hardened.

She couldn't allow anyone to claim Chaos Magic for themselves. Such power was rightfully hers—it was her destiny.

"I'll find you, and I'll make you my puppet!"

Her face twisted with determination. Gathering dark energy in her hands, she waved forcefully, and her body dissolved into black mist before vanishing.

---

Outside, the police noticed something unusual and rushed into the Warehouse, only to find it empty.

"Strange... I swear I heard someone talking..." one officer murmured.

But there was no one left to answer.
