Chapter 229: MD-Chapter 228 I Can't Control Myself!

Natasha took the magic staff and perked up: "Did you find Loki? I'll give it a try!"

"You knew you could use the magic staff to shut down this device?"

Selvig was surprised: "I remember setting up a failsafe here. Yes, using his magic staff can shut it down!"

Natasha glanced at Arthur: "Some of us have a lot of intelligence."

With that, Natasha approached the device, where a prominent blue energy was clearly visible.

Taking a deep breath, Natasha slowly moved the magic staff towards the energy field.

Arthur could only watch during this process; if he got too close, the Tesseract's energy would start acting erratically.

While it was possible that the portal might collapse from this, there was also a risk of being teleported again.

Once was enough; Arthur felt his heart couldn't handle another such experience.

Natasha struggled to insert the tip of the staff into the energy field. When she looked back, she saw Arthur watching indifferently and felt exasperated: "Aren't you going to come help me?"

"Trust me, if I come over, I'd only make things worse."

Arthur was also frustrated; his internal spatial energy was being uncooperative.

His body was now a mess, with spatial energy and Power Stone's power entangled, trapped by colorless energy, and he couldn't afford to be careless.

At this moment, if the energy erupted, who knew what kind of impact it would have on him.

Though it might have a positive effect, his current state didn't allow for any risk.

"I can shut it down!" Natasha spoke into the communication device: "Is anyone listening? I can shut down the portal!"

She used the Avengers' communication channel. Arthur didn't know what was said, but Natasha's expression soon changed: "A nuclear bomb?"

Arthur was taken aback, then turned his gaze towards the distance where Iron Man's suit was shooting a flame towards the faraway sky.

With a slight tremor of his wings, Arthur charged forward.

He wasn't sure what exactly he was charging towards. Logically, Tony launching a nuclear bomb into space shouldn't pose a major risk— at worst, there would be temporary oxygen deprivation or the arc reactor might briefly shut down, but things would recover once back on Earth.

So, theoretically, leaving it alone was fine; Tony just needed to throw the bomb out of the portal, and there wouldn't be any problems.

But Arthur…

"I can't control my wings anymore!!!!"

Arthur gritted his teeth and accelerated. Soon, he saw Tony approaching.

"What are you doing?"

Tony looked surprised at the oncoming Arthur, his tone also dazed.

Arthur made a sharp turn in mid-air and reached Tony's other side, trying to grab the "giant missile."

However, perhaps because its own energy was on the brink of explosion, the result was…

[Capture failed!]

"Get away from here!"

Tony spoke calmly, addressing Arthur: "Leave this to me. No problem. Don't steal my spotlight!"

Both of them were moving at incredible speeds and soon arrived at a New York street.

Arthur gave a wry smile: "Honestly, I'd rather not interfere. But I can't control myself."

Outside of the movies, there's no evidence to prove that Tony could survive after sending the "super missile" away and come back alive. His own experience told Arthur that relying solely on or trusting movies might not end well.

In the movies, Tony crossed back through the portal to Earth at the last moment.

Who knows if he can survive and come back this time?

A slight deviation could leave him stranded in space, leading to his certain death... There would be no chance of survival. Compared to that, Arthur might actually have a chance to live, though he didn't quite understand where this confidence came from. Perhaps after so many close calls, he truly began to believe he couldn't die.

With this thought, he hesitated no longer. A massive figure, over three meters tall, appeared next to Tony, blocking his waist and pulling him downwards.

"No!!!!!!!"

Tony's roar echoed as Arthur reached directly below the portal.

There was not much time left before the explosion!

Looking up at the portal, Arthur's expression was oddly calm, perhaps because he had done similar things many times before and felt little emotional turbulence.

Still, he couldn't help but want to swear.

But he didn't utter a single curse; instead, he plunged into the portal with the nuclear bomb.

In the familiar void, looking up, Arthur saw Chitauri pouring in from all directions, and above, a gigantic Chitauri mothership hovered, continuously dispatching troops and ships…

He released the nuclear bomb, and its tail flame blinked as it headed straight for the mothership.

Arthur, clad in his Steel Body, had also summoned a golden Eye of Horus to float beside him, illuminating his form.

Turning back, he saw the portal, with New York on the other side.

He tried to return to Earth through the portal but found himself unable to catch up.

Meanwhile, a flash of light blinked behind him, and turning around, he saw the nuclear bomb had exploded before hitting the enemy mothership.

"Just as expected, movies lie!"

Arthur looked at the spectacular fireworks and couldn't help but make a similar remark.

In the movies, Tony's nuclear bomb not only fell into the portal but also exploded after hitting the Chitauri mothership.

But now?

The portal was so far away, and the bomb had exploded. Even if he reached the portal's edge, the blast's shockwave would surely travel through the portal to New York.

Arthur didn't care too much about New York, but in this situation, if the shockwave from the bomb's explosion reached New York, he felt like a complete failure.

At this moment, Arthur had very limited options. He activated his mental shield and communicator: "If you can hear me… shut it down!"

As his words fell, a burst of rainbow light suddenly surged and enveloped Arthur.

Arthur was taken aback and then started to laugh.

As the light faded, Arthur saw the dark-faced Asgardian Heimdall: "Glad to see you, Heimdall."

"I'm also glad to see you, my friend. Your actions are commendable!" Heimdall spoke: "The All-Father is waiting for you."
