Chapter 22: Chapter 22
Kong crashed onto the water's surface with a brutal impact, but at the last moment, he instinctively lowered his density, preventing himself from sinking. He lay sprawled across the waves, barely conscious, his body screaming in pain from the devastating blow.
Akainu hovered above, eyes cold and calculating. "I'd kill you right now… but you're more useful as bait to draw your father out." With that, he kicked off the air, closing the distance in an instant, his hand reaching for Kong's throat.
But the moment his fingers made contact, Akainu's eyes widened in shock. His strength vanished in an instant, his limbs growing heavy, his control slipping.
Before he could react, his body dropped like a stone—plummeting toward the sea below.
Kong's grip tightened around Akainu's hair as he yanked him mid-fall, preventing him from sinking into the sea. Embedded deep in Akainu's leg was Smoker's former weapon, which Kong had secretly launched from his foot just as Akainu moved in to grab him. It was a perfectly executed dirty trick, and best of all, the sea stone had pierced straight into Akainu's flesh with almost no resistance.
Akainu's eyes widened in shock. He hadn't expected Kong to store a weapon made of sea stone inside his own body. The realization hit him too late. The protective coating around the weapon, a thin, see-through bag, had melted the moment it touched Akainu's magma body, exposing him to its full effects.
Even with the sea stone sapping his strength, Akainu gritted his teeth and swung, his hardened fist slamming into Kong's stomach. The impact sent Kong skidding backward across the water's surface, coughing up blood.
'If this were pure sea stone…' Akainu gritted his teeth. If the weapon embedded in his leg had been made of 100% pure sea stone, he would be completely helpless in Kong's hands. But it wasn't. Even weakened, he could still fight. This rookie pirate wasn't going to take him down so easily.
Boom!
Akainu barely had time to react before Kong's fist slammed into his face with crushing force. The impact sent him rocketing backward, but just as he reached the peak of his momentum, he twisted in midair, kicking off an invisible platform with Geppo to halt his flight. He barely dodged Kong, who was already closing in for another attack, determined not to give him time to remove the sea stone.
Akainu surged forward, his fist crashing into Kong's face with brutal force. But Kong refused to back down. As he was sent flying, his leg stretched out with perfect precision, slamming into the handle of the embedded sea stone weapon in Akainu's leg.
The weapon drove deeper. Akainu's muscles tensed, his teeth gritting as pain surged through his body, the sea stone sapping more of his strength.
"You little—!" Akainu's rage boiled over. Before Kong could recover, Akainu reappeared beneath him, moving with terrifying speed.
Boom!
A devastating knee slammed into Kong's gut, driving the air from his lungs. His body bent around the impact, his insides feeling like they'd just been set on fire.
Kong coughed up a mouthful of blood as his body was launched skyward, hurtling toward the heavens like a shooting star.
"Soru." Akainu vanished in a blur, reappearing above Kong in an instant. Kong's eyes widened—he barely had time to register the movement before…
Boom!
A devastating kick slammed into his side, sending him rocketing downward. But Akainu wasn't done. Before Kong could regain control, Akainu appeared again. Another kick. Boom. Then another. Boom. Each strike sent Kong ricocheting through the air, his body snapping in different directions like a ragdoll caught in a storm.
Then, the final blow.
Akainu materialized one last time in front of him. With one monstrous kick, he sent Kong plummeting toward Alabasta.
Boom!
Kong crashed into the desert with the force of a meteor. The ground erupted on impact, sending a massive shockwave across the sands. A deep crater carved itself into the land, a cloud of dust and debris rising into the sky.
Akainu landed with a heavy thud, his boots sinking slightly into the sand. His eyes flicked down to the weapon still embedded in his leg, his jaw tightening in frustration. With a grunt, he reached down, attempting to yank it free.
Then, he froze. Across the battlefield, dust swirled, slowly settling. From within the crater, a shadow moved. Kong was rising.
His breath came in ragged huffs, his body battered, twisted, yet slowly, methodically, it was reforming. Bones shifted back into place, muscles knit themselves together. The grotesque deformations from Akainu's assault were reversing before his very eyes.
"To think this is just a weakened version of yourself…" Kong grinned, blood dripping from the corner of his mouth. His legs trembled but held firm, and then, his aura exploded outward.
The air itself seemed to shudder under the weight of his presence. The sand at his feet whipped up into a vortex. Akainu looked towards the sky, and there he saw thunderstorms gathering above… summoned by the sheer might of Kong conqueror Haki, which had grown stronger.
Kong rolled his shoulders, cracking his neck.
"I accept the challenge." His eyes locked onto Akainu, filled with wild, reckless excitement. "Come at me."
Akainu's fists clenched. This brat… 'he should be unconscious. No—he should be dead.' And yet, Kong was still standing.
Akainu's magma-coated fist slammed into Kong's stomach with enough force to shatter boulders, but Kong didn't budge. His body rippled from the impact, his muscles tightening as he braced against the raw power behind the blow.
Then, he moved. With a sharp twist, his flesh shifted, liquefying and expanding around Akainu's arm. Before the admiral could pull back, Kong's body snapped shut like a vice, trapping Akainu's fist inside.
Akainu's eyes narrowed in fury. He yanked, but Kong refused to let go.
Then Kong struck. His entire body lunged forward, molding around Akainu like an amorphous mass. His limbs stretched and coiled, wrapping around Akainu's face and upper body like a living straitjacket.
Akainu's muffled roar of frustration rumbled from within the shifting mass. He struggled, his hands clawing at Kong's flesh, fingers digging deep, but Kong gritted his teeth, enduring the pain.
Akainu's thrashing grew weaker. His movements slowed. Then, finally, he went still.
Kong didn't let go right away. He held firm, tightening his grip, making absolutely sure the admiral was out cold before finally releasing him.
Akainu's unconscious body collapsed onto the sand, his breath shallow. Kong stood over him, panting. His entire body ached, and his bleed ran down his body like a river… but he hardened the skin around his injury, ensuring that he wouldn't bleed to death… then
"Haha… I beat an admiral…" Kong lay sprawled across the ground, his chest rising and falling heavily.
