Chapter 213 Wen Yun: Oh no, the little bok choy might be in trouble_3
She didn't even remember what she had said, seeming like she had never been so talkative before. Her heart just kept pounding fiercely, completely oblivious to the passing of time.
It wasn't until the very end, for some reason, that she blurted out she wanted to go out and have some fun.
It was late, she didn't want to go anywhere, or rather, she didn't care where to go. It just felt... the night seemed exceptionally long, with a full dozen hours still until tomorrow.
Out of the blue, she really wanted to see him.
She didn't hold much hope at first, but to her surprise, Xu Qingyan agreed. He said it was too late, and he would take her to see the lights and wander the night market before coming back.
She had planned to change her clothes and leave, when suddenly Sister Yun announced she was coming over.
Lin Wanzhou wasn't guilty of anything, if Wen Yun had wanted to object, she would have done so already. Besides, it was just going out to look at the lanterns and stroll through the night market for a bit before returning.
However, she didn't want to put Qi Ting in a difficult position, so she could only ask Xu Qingyan to wait downstairs for her later. It seemed wrong to cancel, especially since it was her own suggestion.
As she was lost in her thoughts, a knocking sound, "knock, knock, knock," began.
The two girls standing by the door were startled, turning their heads to look at each other for a moment. Qi Ting's eyes seemed to ask, Sister Yun or Teacher Xu?
Lin Wanzhou was wooden, her expression even more blank than a sheet of paper.
The door opened, and it was Xu Qingyan.
Qi Ting let out a sigh of relief, guessing Wen Yun wouldn't arrive so quickly, and then greeted him in.
"Teacher Xu is here?"
"Yeah." Xu Qingyan entered the living room and looked up at Lin Wanzhou, "You told Qi Ting, right? It's getting late now, we should hurry and go..."
He didn't finish his sentence when Qi Ting's phone rang, and the three of them glanced at it.
Oh snap, it was a call from Sister Yun, Qi Ting took a deep breath and answered.
"Hello, Sister Yun, where are you?"
"No need to pick me up, I'm in the elevator right now." Wen Yun's voice came through along with the sound of the elevator doors, "I'm here now, open the door for me."
Suddenly, the living room fell silent.
Xu Qingyan felt a bit awkward, with Wen Yun showing up like this. He had met her backstage at "The King of Songs" and they had exchanged greetings, but it was their first encounter face to face.
But he had nothing to feel guilty about; he came late at night just to cheer the young lady up. To watch the lantern show, then wander the night market, and finally, everyone would go their separate ways.
Meeting Wen Yun formally under these circumstances was indeed a bit stiff. However, as long as he wasn't embarrassed, the embarrassment would belong to someone else. Later, he would just pretend to be a guest set to leave soon.
When he looked up, however, he noticed the two girls were extremely nervous.
"Okay... I'll open the door now." Qi Ting hung up the phone, her face full of confusion as she looked at Lin Wanzhou and asked softly, "Sister Zhou Zhou, what should we do?"
"I don't know..."
"What are you talking about?" Xu Qingyan was completely befuddled, "Just open the..."
"You can't!" Lin Wanzhou's face turned red instantly, cutting him off.
At that moment, there was a knock on the door, causing chaos inside, yet they had to suppress their voices.
Just as Wen Yun was about to knock a second time, the door finally opened. Qi Ting's face, feigning composure, appeared and she called out, "Sister Yun."
"Hmm, where is your Sister Zhou Zhou?"
"She... got sleepy, went back to her room to sleep." Qi Ting said, swallowing hard as she turned her head, her gaze drifting toward the direction of Lin Wanzhou's room door.
"Sleeping so early, did she go to sleep right after the call?" Wen Yun asked doubtfully, feeling something was off, "I'll wash my hands first and then go check on her."
The sound of running water in the bathroom started, leaving Qi Ting the only one in the living room, awkwardly standing there.
"Sister Yun, are you planning to sleep over tonight?"
"Of course not, I just came to check on things, I'll be leaving in a bit." Wen Yun came out, shaking the water off her hands, "After you've checked on your Sister Zhou Zhou, you can send me back."
"Okay." Qi Ting nodded, her expression tenser than ever.
She feared no one, except for two people. One was Lin Wanzhou, and the other was her half-teacher Wen Yun. If either of them got angry, it would be the end of her.
Luckily, Wen Yun had already walked over and hadn't seen the uneasy expression on Qi Ting's face.
Thump, thump, thump.
"Zhouzhou, are you not feeling well?"
"No, just a bit sleepy." Lin Wanzhou's voice was calm, as usual, having no difference, "Sister Yun, why have you come?"
"A change in schedule, came back earlier than planned." Wen Yun stood at the door, then added, "I am a bit worried about your condition, may I come in and see?"
"Yeah."
Then, Wen Yun pushed the door open, entering the tidy bedroom of Lin Wanzhou.
The room had an open wardrobe. The curtains were half-drawn, revealing a gap in the window outside. The air conditioner was humming, set to eighteen degrees cooling.
The room was as cold as an icehouse, with Lin Wanzhou under the covers reading a book, and a tablet lying to one side.
"Sister Yun."
At her call, Wen Yun nodded, glanced at the air conditioner, and asked.
"Why is it so cold?"
Lin Wanzhou replied, "I've been having insomnia these days, turning on the cooling and covering with the blanket helps me sleep better."
Then she lowered her eyes to continue reading, showing no intent to get up.
"Take care of yourself, these days aren't like those at Yun Yi, where no one will force you to work continuously." Wen Yun walked to the window and closed it firmly.
Qi Ting stood at the doorstep of the room, nervously watching, clearly having seen Zhouzhou bringing Teacher Xu into the room.
The places where someone could hide in the room were limited; could he have just vanished into thin air? There wasn't a single gap under the bed; it was impossible to hide anything there.
Wen Yun casually drew the curtains shut and glanced at the inner side of the bed.
"If you're cold, you should cover up more." Wen Yun said, opening the wardrobe where clothes were packed tightly, with a cotton quilt on the top shelf.
"Do you need another blanket?"
Lin Wanzhou shook her head, "No need, I slept like this yesterday too, and I wasn't cold."
