Lord of the Time: I Can Reincarnate Infinitely

Chapter 385: 385: Big Paw

As the bus entered the tunnel, the atmosphere inside shifted dramatically. The once bright and open surroundings gave way to darkness, enveloping the students in an eerie shroud. The tunnel walls, made of rough concrete, loomed overhead, casting long shadows that danced ominously in the dim light. The air grew noticeably colder, sending a chill down the students' spines as they huddled together for warmth.

The tunnel seemed to stretch on endlessly, its depths swallowed by the darkness that surrounded them. The only sound was the rumble of the bus's engine, echoing off the walls of the tunnel like distant thunder. Occasionally, the screech of metal against metal pierced the silence as the bus navigated its way through the narrow confines of the tunnel.

Despite the steady hum of the engine, an uneasy tension hung in the air, palpable in the quiet whispers and nervous glances exchanged between the students. The darkness seemed to press in on them from all sides, suffocating and oppressive, leaving them feeling isolated and vulnerable.

"This tunnel gives me the creeps," one student remarked, his voice barely above a whisper. "It's so dark and cold in here."

Others nodded in agreement, their expressions reflecting a mix of fear and uncertainty. "I don't like it either," another student admitted, her voice trembling slightly. "It feels like we're being watched."

Their conversation was interrupted by a sudden jolt as the bus hit a bump in the road, sending them lurching forward in their seats. "What was that?" one student exclaimed, his eyes wide with alarm.

Another student pointed to a large paw print etched into the concrete wall of the tunnel. "Look at that," he said, his voice barely audible over the roar of the engine. "It looks like some kind of animal made that mark."

The students gathered around to examine the paw print, their faces drawn with curiosity and concern. "It must be some kind of historical marker," one student suggested, trying to ease the tension that hung in the air. "Maybe this tunnel used to be a passageway for wild animals."

As the students huddled together, their voices echoing softly in the dimly lit tunnel, they turned to Adam, seeking his opinion on the mysterious paw print etched into the concrete wall.

"Adam, what do you think made that mark?" one student asked, his brow furrowed with curiosity.

Caleb studied the paw print for a moment, his eyes narrowing as he took in its size and shape. "It's hard to say for sure," he replied, his voice thoughtful. "But based on its size and appearance, I'd say it's likely the work of the damned Capricorn."

Caleb examined the paw print closely, noting its sheer size and the deep indentations it left in the concrete. "Look at the size of this print," he remarked, gesturing to the massive impression on the wall. "It's much larger than any ordinary creature's. Whatever made this mark must be incredibly powerful."

He then scrutinized the appearance of the print, observing the distinct shape of the paw and the sharpness of its claws. "See how the claws have gouged into the concrete," Caleb pointed out. "They're long and sharp, designed for tearing through flesh and bone."

As he leaned closer to the paw print, Caleb caught a whiff of a foul, musky odor emanating from it. "And the smell," he added, wrinkling his nose in disgust. "It's pungent, like a mixture of rotting flesh and sulfur. Definitely not something you'd want to encounter in a dark tunnel."

The other students nodded in agreement, their faces drawn with concern. "That's definitely not a creature I'd want to run into," one of them muttered, casting a wary glance around the tunnel.

The other students gasped in surprise, their eyes widening with fear. "The Capricorn? But isn't that a Roar-level beast?" one student asked, her voice trembling slightly.

Caleb nodded solemnly. "Yes, it is," he confirmed. "And if that's truly what made this mark, then we need to be extremely cautious. The Capricorn is known for its strength and ferocity, and it won't hesitate to attack if it senses a threat."

The students exchanged nervous glances, their expressions filled with apprehension. "What should we do?" another student asked, her voice barely above a whisper.

Adam thought for a moment, his mind racing as he considered their options. "For now, we need to stay calm and stick together," he said, his voice firm. "And if we encounter the Capricorn, we need to be prepared to defend ourselves."

The students nodded in agreement, their faces pale with fear. "Thank you, Adam," one student said, her voice filled with gratitude. "You always know what to do in situations like this."

Caleb smiled modestly, his cheeks flushing slightly at the praise. "I just try to stay informed and be prepared for anything," he replied, his tone humble. "But we all need to work together if we want to make it through this."

As the students continued to discuss their plans, one of them jokingly asked if Adam's pet bear, Voli, could handle the Capricorn. Caleb's lips twitched with amusement at the question, but inwardly, he felt a surge of confidence in his companion's abilities.

"I wouldn't underestimate him," Caleb replied, his voice tinged with amusement. "Voli may look small, but he's stronger than he appears."

As the students continued to discuss the paw print and the potential threat it represented, Voli, perched atop Adam's shoulder, observed the conversation with a mixture of amusement and irritation. 'These humans,' he thought disdainfully, 'always underestimating me because I can't speak.'

Feeling a surge of frustration at being overlooked, Voli snorted derisively, causing several students to glance up at him with wide eyes. To them, it seemed like nothing more than an adorable bear making an amusing noise. Little did they know the fierce thoughts brewing in Voli's mind.

As he watched the students exchange nervous glances, Voli couldn't help but feel a surge of arrogance. 'They have no idea what I'm capable of,' he thought smugly. 'If they knew the power I possess, they wouldn't dare underestimate me.'

In his mind, Voli entertained the idea of unleashing his full strength upon his master's classmates, picturing himself effortlessly defeating them in battle. 'I could tear through them like paper,' he thought, relishing the image of his adversaries cowering before him.

Meanwhile, the students continued to regard Voli with affectionate smiles, oblivious to the dangerous thoughts swirling in his mind. To them, he was nothing more than a cute and cuddly companion, unaware of the formidable power he possessed.

As the bus rumbled on through the dark tunnel, Voli remained perched on Caleb's shoulder, his eyes gleaming with hidden intelligence. Though the students may see him as nothing more than a harmless bear, Voli knew that he was far more than meets the eye. And if the need arose, he was more than ready to prove his strength to anyone who dared to challenge him.
