Lord of the Time: I Can Reincarnate Infinitely

Chapter 279: 279: Don't need to hate or to dislike

With a sudden and fluid motion, Mei brought her hands together, combining the waves of compressed lightning into a single, concentrated blast. The air trembled with energy as the powerful surge shot forward, aimed directly at the heart of the molten golem.

The compressed lightning struck the golem with explosive force, creating a dazzling display of electricity dancing across its fiery surface. The intense heat and blinding light obscured the holographic display momentarily, leaving the onlookers in suspense.

As the virtual smoke cleared, the once-mighty lava golem was reduced to scattered fragments of molten rock. Mei stood victorious amid the virtual aftermath, her hands still crackling with residual energy. The holographic simulation registered the defeat of the formidable opponent.

Cheers erupted from Mei's classmates as they witnessed her spectacular performance. Even Professor Zhuge, known for his stoicism, nodded in approval. Mei removed the virtual gear, a satisfied smile playing on her lips.

Caleb couldn't help but feel a surge of pride for Mei's impressive display of power. "Well done, Mei," he said, acknowledging her victory.

Mei turned to him, a glint of triumph in her eyes. "Thanks. It's all about knowing how to use your strengths effectively. That's the key to overcoming any challenge."
Experience new stories on empire

Caleb, in agreement, nodded his head. "Well, not knowing how to use your strengths is a bit stupid. Just as they said, knowing yourself will help you emerge victorious in hundreds of battles. However, that's only the first step. Knowing oneself and one's enemy lets one become a champion of not only battle but war."

"Well said..." Professor Zhuge gave Caleb a smile. "Well, kid... It seems you're quite wiser than your age."

Wiser than my age? Fuck you! I'm already an old bastard!

Caleb cursed silently in his heart. When it comes to the topic of age. He doesn't know why or if it was anxiety. He realized that he had become sensitive about such a subject. He might be younger physically, but his mental age should already be around 200 or even 300+! As for his soul... Well, that's even a lot worse. His soul age was damned millions of years!

Even if you combine the ages of the whole population of the Philippines. He would be older than them in terms of soul. Of course, soul age doesn't translate to wiser, smarter, or experienced. After all, most of those years were spent with him sleeping, wandering in the river of time.

How would he become wiser, smarter, or more experienced if he didn't even experience anything other than slumber? What really counts though was his mental age. At least, he lives and experiences 100+ lives in total. It might have, at the very least, helped him become wiser and smarter than his previous versions.

'Though I don't really know if I'm damned smart. I think that I hella a lot stupid and still a bit childish sometimes...'

Caleb sighed as he acknowledged his flaws. However, aren't flaws what makes people more human? Aren't imperfections make life dynamic? After all, the world itself is imperfect, and that's what makes it balanced and beautiful.

'Me and my philosophical thoughts. It seems I'm really getting a lot older...'

Just like that, Professor Zhuge called in Zhou's name. Yes, it was the damned bastard's turn. Zhou's turn made the atmosphere around the students buzz.

"Hey, do you think Zhou will be able to easily defeat his opponents in a matter of minutes like Mei? It would be incredible if does so."

"Are you stupid? Of course, he can! There's a reason why Zhou is the no.1 student of no.3 high school and not Mei... Despite them being in the same realm. Zhou's genetic powers are slightly superior in quality than Mei's."

"I agree. Zhou's abilities are too strong in terms of offense. As they say, offense is the best defense. He has the might of a lion and fire attribute thanks to the genes that he inserted into his gene lock."

"Well, what's the use of talking? Can't you guys just fucking watch and see the results for yourself? We will see it for ourselves. There's no need to waste your energy blindly guessing..."

As the students were immersed in their hubbubs. Mei nudged Caleb's arms and asked:

"What do you think? Do you think he will be able to surpass my record?"

Fatty, who had already recovered from a traumatic experience also looked at his friend, Adam's answer. At this moment, he felt a lot better. In the class, aside from his female classmate and Mei, he was one of the ones who got a B-score above Zhuge's assessment of performance!

What does that mean? He's elite!

Although he felt that his performance was a bit embarrassing for doing nothing but running. According to Zhuge, he had shown enough courage to face the demon beast. Yes, he looks scared and almost looks as if he would piss his pants off. However, courage and being a coward are different.

One shall know their distinctions. Courage doesn't make you immune to fear. You still feel afraid. However, even with fear, you will be able to face it and move forward. While a coward won't even dare to show himself to the enemy.

In terms of strategic approach. Running is a proven strategy by every creature. After all, running away is the instinct of every creature once faced with an overwhelming predator. Running also requires excellent spatial awareness, athleticism, stamina, and wits...

His running performance, being chased by the demon beast, showed all such qualities. Not to mention the boldness to choose a one-time barrier to escape... Well, he died in the end though after ten minutes of chase which is why he only got a B. If he didn't last for thirty minutes or even make the demon beast lose his trail... He might have got an A+ score...

Still, he's a lot better than the scores of the majority who didn't even get B. After all, they couldn't even last a minute. Most of them died in a span of seconds.

Seeing Caleb not answering, Mei nudged even harder.

"I get it... I think he will be able to kill the demon beast in a few seconds." Caleb shrugged.

"What? you're that confident in him. Don't you hate or dislike him?"

"Who said I hate or dislike him? Although I really find him a nuance and annoying, I don't particularly hate or dislike him. Him continuously provoking me doesn't mean that I won't be objective..."

Caleb's answer surprised both Fatty and Mei at this time. They didn't expect Adam to be so logical and rational.

'Though I don't need to hate or dislike someone to kill, right?'

Zhou's behavior didn't make him view him with dislike or hatred at all. However, that doesn't mean that he won't kill Zhou if he continues being a nuance, being an obstacle, or obstructing him. He could kill him simply for the reason of a conflict of interest or something... That doesn't him that he killed Zhou due to hatred, hate, or dislike.

Caleb secretly thought unbeknownst to them. If they knew, it would surely make them look at Adam in a different light. Albeit chilling, bad light.
