Lord of The Mysterious: She Comes from the Chaos Sea

Chapter 3: Chapter 3: The Night Welcomes Its Loyal Follower

Trapped in the domain of the demonic wolves, Hermione knew all too well that she was in grave danger.

Moreover, without the presence of the "Lady of Misfortune" standing before her, she would have had no way to avoid becoming food for the wolves.

However, through her communication with this "Lady of Misfortune," Hermione quickly realized that the Lady seemed to hold a certain fondness for her, or at least for the human race as a whole.

Saying it was fondness might be a bit of an overestimation on her part.

But even if it wasn't fondness, there was definitely curiosity.

This realization made Hermione understand deeply that, if she wanted to increase her chances of survival in the heart of the demonic wolf tribe, she had no choice but to earn the protection of the Lady of Misfortune.

For this reason, Hermione now looked at her with a sincere expression.

As for whether the Lady of Misfortune had the power to protect her life among a tribe of bloodthirsty, brutal wolves, who saw all living creatures as nothing more than food...

Although "Hermione's Memories" and the "Video Explanations" contained no information about the Lady of Misfortune, Hermione had already deduced her status among the demonic wolves. The Lady was undoubtedly a subordinate deity of the Annihilation Demonic Wolf Flegrea

The eight gods who rose from the chaotic age all had violent natures.

Compared to the other six, Flegrea and the " Devil Monarch Farbauti were the most terrifying.

They acted purely on instinct, driven by madness, almost without reason, with a goal to destroy and corrupt everything in their path!

The bloodthirsty Flegrea was even known as the "Destroyer of Demonic Wolves." When enraged, Flegrea would even torture and kill its own wolves and offspring to satisfy its bloodlust!

Therefore, no living creature dared approach Flegrea.

Only its subordinates could, at best, survive in its presence.

And the fact that the Lady of Misfortune had been able to pick her up alive from in front of the Annihilation Demonic Wolf Flegrea's palace meant she was certainly one of these subordinates!

A subordinate deity, no less, was an existence second only to the eight ancient gods in the current age!

The video story had mentioned the hierarchy of this Lord of the Mysteries .

According to the later developed potion system:

- Sequence 9, Sequence 8, and Sequence 7 were lower ranks.

- Sequence 6 and Sequence 5 were mid-tier.

- Sequence 4 and above were considered semi-divine!

- Sequence 0 was a true god!

Subordinate deities referred to those powerful beings ranked Sequence 1 or Sequence 2 under the ancient gods.

The Lady of Misfortune was undoubtedly one of these subordinates!

Concealing all her monstrous traits, the Lady of Misfortune appeared as a transcendent beauty among humans, her face barely visible behind a black veil, and her crimson lips curled into a subtle smile:

"You may stay here."

Hearing this, Hermione felt a sense of relief. While she had guessed the Lady would likely grant her request, actually receiving an answer made her both happy and grateful.

The Lady of Misfortune continued: "You're clever, and perhaps you've already guessed that I have a certain interest in humans."

After a pause, she said with a faint smile, "But this interest is something I've only recently developed... If you want to survive here, you must prove your value before me."

Value..

Hermione believed she had enough value!

It wasn't arrogance—if the Lord of the Mysteries truly unfolded as the video suggested, she would practically be a "prophet"!

Furthermore, she had a clear understanding of the plotline!

From the video, she had gained insights into the potion system, the laws of extraordinary Characteristics, the forthcoming Blasphemous slate, the future paths to true gods, and even the old days and the. These understandings far surpassed the wisdom of any intelligent life in the current Second Epoch, even exceeding the knowledge of the great ancient gods!

With this in mind, Hermione felt quite confident. But her expression suddenly changed...

Because she remembered something crucial from the video: the more one knew about the Lord of the Mysteries , the faster they would die!

Without the proper rank, understanding the true nature of the gods, the truth of the stars, or the reason behind Earth's uniqueness would inevitably draw the attention of higher beings, leading to an uncontrollable descent into madness and becoming a non-human monster!

But... why was she still fine?

Was it because many of the higher beings hadn't yet become true gods in this era?

For instance, the future Night Goddess, Eternal Sun, and other true gods worshipped by humanity had clearly not yet come to power during the Second Epoch, when the ancient gods ruled, and were likely hiding somewhere in some forgotten corner...

If she could meet some of these yet-to-be-born true gods ahead of time, wouldn't she be able to walk confidently in the future?

Unfortunately, the video didn't elaborate much on this part.

Hermione only knew that the future Storm Lord, Eternal Sun, and the God of Knowledge and Wisdom had once been angels under the ancient sun god—a being who had emerged from the Chaos Sea in the Second Epoch. But these details were only vaguely mentioned in the video, and Hermione was careful not to consider them too deeply. After all, such blasphemous knowledge was unrelated to her!

But... even if these future true gods had yet to be born, and the strange knowledge in her mind hadn't attracted their attention, what about the  Outer Deities watching Earth from the stars?

For example, the fallen mother goddess dwelling on the Moon; theThe Mother Tree of Desire that could make men give birth; and other utter god, decayed beings such as the Monarch of Decay, the Supernova Dominator, and the Ring of Fate —all of them had existed since the era of the original creator...

Hermione quickly ran through these terrifying pieces of knowledge in her mind, but she could still feel completely normal, without any bizarre transformations!

Could the warnings in the video be false?

Or perhaps the knowledge in the video was a lie?

"You seem confused..." The voice of the Lady of Misfortune interrupted Hermione's thoughts.

"I..." Hermione snapped out of her trance, pausing for a moment. She deliberately showed a frightened expression and said to the Lady, "I suddenly recalled a secret rumor that only a few in human tribes have heard."

"Oh? What rumor is that?" the Lady asked with interest.

Hermione took a deep breath and slowly spoke, "They say that looking directly at a god will lead to death."

"Oh, so that's what you were thinking." The Lady of Misfortune's voice lifted slightly, and she warned Hermione, "It's not just looking at a god. Even gazing upon the form of a mythological being—even an incomplete form—will damage your soul, pollute your mind, and eventually lead to uncontrollable death."

"Like how you fainted this time after witnessing part of my mythological form and that of the siblings." The Lady paused before continuing:

"You're lucky this time. It was only fainting. If you experience this again, you might not be so fortunate."

"So here, you must avoid becoming food for the demonic wolves, but also... do not listen to what you shouldn't, do not see what you shouldn't, and you must find ways to avoid those things that should remain unseen or unheard..."
