LET'S GO GAMBLING! [OPM]

Chapter 3: 3

Let's go gambling!

Some of these chapters may be a bit of a nothing burger to some of you. I'm fine with that. It's mostly just Kenshin messing around and finding out. I'm going to prioritize chapter amount over chapter length, so some chapters may be around 1.5k words long, some longer, it all depends on how much I wanna tell and how quickly.

Kenshin found himself on his bed, the bandages still on his body as several hours had passed since he got home. He was nursing an absolutely painful headache from having to listen to that goddamn DING noise that the slot machines made.

He was going to have nightmares about that damn thing...

The sun had already set, and a myriad of miscellaneous items were scattered around his whole house, from literal money bags to fancy pieces of artwork, designer bags, shoes, several very luxurious accessories and even a katana. He gambled away most of his useless crap and kept what he believed to be useful.

Kenshin couldn't, not because he didn't want to but because the soft, rainbow glow coming from his nightstand kept him up. There, on that small piece of furniture lay 11 golden tickets. Thank fuck they weren't that hard to get with his luck, but why the hell did they have to drop at such inconsistent numbers?!

He got 8 the first time, and with a feverish desire to obtain more, he spent several more hours smoothing out his brain with slot machine noises. Only to then get 1 stat ticket every few dozen rolls.

What a scam.

While it was very nice that he could get stronger for free, the price may as well have been his sanity with this goddamn headache splitting his head open. He kind of wished though that he had an intelligence attribute included in the roster, just so he could get super smart and... do smart things.

Having enough for one day, Kenshin reached for the golden tickets and unceremoniously threw them at his status screen. He really should check if other people can see it...

He just spent seven golden tickets making his dick bigger.

At least he hoped he would also be more attractive, what kind of a guy wouldn't wanna be more attractive for free?

Moving on, the rest of his tickets went to his stamina, after he heals from his injuries he should check if his attributes are static or if they can be improved through other means too. If Kenshin can just weightlift to get a higher strength attribute then he wouldn't need to waste so many golden tickets.

An almost painful sensation coursed through his nether regions, "...I need new pants."

That's what eleven inches of dick get you.

Yippeeeee~

Kenshin found himself outside, idly walking through the streets of Z-City. A few days had passed since he maxed out his charm attribute, and since then, he surprisingly didn't get anything good from the gamba. The headache he kept getting by the end of the day was the cherry on top of the metaphorical cake that said; "Ya ain't shit."

Originally he wanted to go out and look for a new job, but after winning so much cash thanks to his Compulsive Gambler ability, he gave up on that prospect very quickly. If he could find a second way to buff his attributes outside of the usual golden ticket, then he could join the Hero Association and get paid some proper money.

That or he could just lay low and live comfortably.

Nah.

He didn't trust them enough to believe that they wouldn't have some form of spyware installed in every electronic across the planet. Besides, Tatsumaki. And, most of all, who doesn't dream of being better than they are now?

Humans and their greed, oh dear.

With his bandages and stitches finally removed, Kenshin could finally see if his attributes were static or dynamic. He was going to the gym. He clutched the expensive designer duffle bag he had gotten from the gamba under his arm. It contained a spare change of sports clothes. After all, he didn't want to go home stinky.

Now that Kenshin had some money to splurge, he bought himself a new flagship phone and some high-end headphones. Who the fuck would go to the gym and exercise in silence?

The gym in question ended up being a dozen-minute walk away from where he lived, so it was close by. World Fitness was the name of the gym, a relatively cheap place to exercise with standard equipment. It was perfect for Kenshin who lacked the hero physique most people wanted.

Walking inside, Kenshin bought himself a membership—as was required—from the bored-looking woman at the counter. It did cost a pretty penny but hey, if his plan worked then it was worth it. If not, he's just gonna cancel.

He left his stuff over in the changing room, but as he was putting the membership card into his wallet he noticed a slim piece of paper at the back. It read; "call me~ XXX-XXX-XXX-XXX".

"...Nice," he commented idly and put the card along with the piece of paper into his wallet before locking the locker behind him.

Him getting that woman's number just about confirmed that his charm affected not only his dick size but also his general appearance. Very, very nice. Man, it sure is fucking awesome to just look better because of an actual cheat code.

"Life is daijobu."

Kenshin just about realised that he should've maybe paid for a personal trainer, but it's fine. He's just here to test some things. There was a decent amount of people already occupying some of the machines, but Kenshin didn't really care, he put on his headphones, fired up his Botify soundtrack and b-lined it to a treadmill.

While being physically strong was nice and all, Kenshin's plan was to increase his stamina and speed. Lifting 100 kilos every minute was nice, lifting 15 kilos every second was nicer. Speed and stamina mattered a lot more for the early game anyway, since he could at least run from monsters better if he couldn't beat them.

"MOCKTAILS, MIXERS, ICE~ THE SNACKS ARE REAL NICE~"

The music blared into his ears from his headphones as he set the treadmill to the comfortable speed of a light jog. He had time now that he wasn't actively rotting behind a store counter, so Kenshin decided to get some gains the steady route instead of burning himself out too quickly.

"BURNICE~ BURNICE~ BURNICE~ BURNICE~ BURNICE~ BURNICE~ GO! GO!"

And so Kenshin's day slowly burned away, he literally spent the entire time on the treadmill, his increased stamina pulling through and letting him jog all day. But the need to experiment was too strong towards the end of his training, so he set the treadmill to a faster speed and got to running faster.

His thighs were burning within half an hour and he was breathing like an asthmatic after smoking a pack of cigarettes.

Seeing that the sun was already starting to set and that the gym was going to close soon, he gathered his stuff and left after a quick shower and a change of clothes. During his quick shower, Kenshin checked his attributes again and was pleasantly surprised.

A single increase wasn't much but it proved that he could, in fact, get better attributes through hard work. Golden tickets were nice, but sometimes, his EX+ luck just didn't want to give him any.

And while he did only train for a single day, and that was technically only on a treadmill, the quick increase in his attributes certainly felt satisfying. But Kenshin wasn't stupid enough to believe he could increase any single one of his stats through only a single day of hard work later on. There was just no way he believed he could later on make his strength go from S+ to EX+ within 24 hours.

"This is nice..."
