Chapter 976: Chapter 975 Apology

Gu Huanhuan wasn’t currently filming, so she was just waiting for the endorsement from Song’s company.

Sister Gao was very efficient and had already submitted some of her profile and experiences to the other party, waiting for their review and then to have a face-to-face talk.

Gu Huanhuan was quite laissez-faire about her work, so when she wasn’t working, she spent time playing with her daughter at home.

Wen Chi had been busy these past two days, and it wasn’t until he had some time that he realized he hadn’t explained the other day’s questioning by Gao Jie, so he called Gao Jie to apologize to him tonight.

Gao Jie agreed right away and reminded Wen Chi to bring his wife.

That evening, Wen Chi told Gu Huanhuan about it, and after handing Warm Sunlight over to the nanny, they left the house.

The restaurant where they were to dine had been booked in advance by Wen Chi, and a while after they arrived, Gao Jie also showed up.

Upon seeing him, Wen Chi and Gu Huanhuan both stood up, and Wen Chi introduced them to each other.

“Hello, it’s great to meet you, I’ve heard much about you,” Gao Jie greeted first.

“Hello,” Gu Huanhuan responded with appropriate measure.

After the three of them sat down, they started eating. Since there was a lady at the table, Gao Jie kept the conversation fairly proper, and everyone was chatting and laughing.

Nearing the end of the dinner, Gu Huanhuan needed to go to the restroom. As soon as she left, Gao Jie’s true colors were revealed; it was clear how hard it had been for him to maintain his gentlemanly facade.

“Bro, I admit defeat to you; I am thoroughly impressed. Lucky in academics and work, and even in taking a wife, you always have the upper hand,” Gao Jie made a “tsk tsk” sound from time to time.

“What are you trying to say?” Wen Chi responded irritably.

“Out with it, how did you fool your wife into marrying you? With that cold attitude of yours, I don’t believe women would throw themselves at you,” Gao Jie said sourly.

“Can’t help it, my wife just loves me that much, don’t be too envious,” Wen Chi said somewhat arrogantly.

“But honestly, it’s no wonder you wanted to enter the grave of marriage; although your wife is a star, she doesn’t have the airs of one, and she’s gentle and kind—a good woman,” Gao Jie couldn’t help but sigh, reflecting on how life is so different for each person.

“Hey, hey, hey, a friend’s wife is off-limits,” Wen Chi reminded him.

“Where is your mind going?” protested Gao Jie, “You know Song Ying has liked you, right? From our college days until now?”

Wen Chi was taken aback for a moment, then furrowed his brows, “I didn’t know, and I’d rather not know. Let’s not bring this up again in the future.”

Should Huanhuan misunderstand, it would cause a big problem.

Gao Jie quickly made a zipping motion over his mouth with his hand.

“However, you’ve really put me in a tough spot. I was hoping to play matchmaker for you two, and now I don’t know how to face Song Ying,” Gao Jie looked at the man responsible, who still had an innocent look, which was infuriatingly exasperating.

“That’s your own problem, find a way to deal with it yourself,” Wen Chi’s schadenfreude was asking for a beating in Gao Jie’s eyes.

Gu Huanhuan came out of the private room, wandering around before finding the restroom—there was actually one right next to the private room, but she didn’t know.

After she came out, a tall figure charged towards her, nearly bumping into her.

“Sir, are you all right?” Gu Huanhuan frowned slightly as a strong smell of alcohol wafted over.

Gu Huanhuan’s frown deepened.

Song Jie’s eyes widened slightly; through his haze, he seemed to see an angel, stunning and sweet-voiced, and he could smell a floral fragrance—unlike the strong scent of perfume, it was light and natural, pleasant to the senses.

Song Jie gave her a slight smile, “Sorry, miss, I was headed to the restroom.”
