Chapter 972: Chapter 971 Sick (2)

Late at Night

Around 1 a.m.

Everything was silent, the surroundings still dark, as people had long since entered their dreams. There were hardly any pedestrians on the streets, only a few cars scattered, sprinting along.

The red light of the Bin City Central Hospital operating room was still on.

The man leaning against the outside wall of the operating room was wearing a set of navy blue home clothes. His sleeves were half-rolled up, but this did not diminish his tall stature; he still stood straight and slender. He was even wearing a pair of men’s slippers, having been in too much of a rush to change.

At this moment, his brows were tightly furrowed, and he appeared quite grave, staring unblinkingly at the door of the operating room.

Usually, he was the one inside performing surgery while family members waited outside. Today, as the family member waiting out here, he could better appreciate that agony.

Time passed by, second by second.

In his anticipation, the operating room light finally went out.

A doctor in his thirties, wearing a white lab coat, emerged from inside. He had a resolute face and, upon removing his mask, looked at the equally tall man in front of him.

“It was appendicitis; we’ve performed an appendectomy. There’s nothing to worry about now,” the doctor patted Wen Chi’s shoulder.

Wen Chi nodded, his heart that had been suspended in mid-air finally settling down, “Thanks.”

“Hey, we’ve been old classmates for many years now. Is there any need to be so polite? Take good care of her.” The doctor who performed the appendectomy on Gu Huanhuan was Wen Chi’s high school and college classmate. The two had known each other for a long time and were quite close—his name was Li Jian.

It just so happened to be his shift tonight. When he saw Wen Chi carrying Gu Huanhuan in, he immediately conducted an examination and then decisively proceeded with the surgery.

Li Jian saw that the surgery had been successful and then returned to the rest area on the same floor to take off his lab coat and planned to have a drink of water.

Although it was not a major surgery, to a doctor’s eyes, there is no distinction between big and small operations because all surgeries carry risks and must be taken seriously.

Seeing that Gu Huanhuan was still not out from the operating room, Wen Chi followed Li Jian to the rest area.

“What, do you want some water too?” Li Jian asked, a bit curious.

“What do we need to be careful about?” Wen Chi asked.

Even though he was a doctor himself, his specialty was different, and surely there would be different considerations for different diseases.

That’s why he came to seek advice from Li Jian.

Li Jian paused for a few seconds before joking, “Who is it that’s got you so worried?”

“My wife,” Wen Chi did not hide it.

There had been rumours that Wen Chi had married a star for a wife, and it turned out to be her.

Seeing is indeed believing.

It seemed that Wen Chi loved her deeply, or else he wouldn’t have rushed to the hospital in the dead of night, carrying this girl, and then calling him to come over for a check-up immediately. It was the first time Li Jian saw anxiety and concern on his face.

Since he was a doctor, he was usually very composed and calm, but this time the girl was sick, and he was terribly anxious.

He was so panicked that at first, Li Jian thought she was Wen Chi’s sister because the young girl looked so young and small. He didn’t expect her to be his wife.

“Don’t be too nervous; she’s young and will recover quickly. After an appendectomy, it is important to rest during the recovery phase and avoid strenuous exercise. Secondly, be a bit careful with her diet; it should be balanced. Avoid high-fat foods, seafood, and fruits, and try to stay away from extremely spicy foods,” Li Jian advised calmly.

Wen Chi listened intently, committing Li Jian’s words to memory.
